Very surprising that in 21st century in USA , Americans are interested in RUMI-----very surprising indeed for me. In my early student days , I learnt lot of Persian & Arabic literature ( My father was scholar-----was teacher of Persian & Arabic !) So even now----at my age 77 ----I still remember a lot of Persian and Arabic Poetry/Recitals. Literature by SADEE in Persian Language was taught to me page to page from GULISTAN and BOSTAN books authored by Sheikh SADEE in 13th century.!! SADEE and RUMI are contemporaries-----in the same years in 13th century----both are well-known Persian Poets. They actually met each other in actual life in 13th century!! I will be getting interested again in PERSIAN POETRY /LITERATURE. For me , it will be sort of "COMING HOME"

I remember listening to these Rumi sermons from Reverend Wendy as they were my first experiences in coming to be familiar with Unity. I am so grateful to have found The Unity Center and for the role it's played on my spiritual journey.

Your talk was Good - Thank you!! I belong to a minority religion, and love to learn about & from other faiths. UNfortunately, religion has divided rather than unite the world in the past, and has thinking minds turning to Atheism instead, instead of belief in the One, the Good, The Almighty, God. Aways GOOD to see religious tolerance, peace & persons with open minds. I actually have come across some in the US who avoid YOGA, because they believe it goes against their "religious beliefs" - (they think it's a Hindu thing - when Yog actually means education/ learning!?) I went to a Catholic school in India, spent most of my life in the US, but have experienced more closed minded people here, than ever before. The Christians here are "afraid" to open their minds to other religious faiths, and their narrow mindedness makes me sad - Some actually believe Jesus is not only Almighty God, but a "Jealous God" - Sweet Jesus - The Prince of Peace!! The Great Philosopher & Prophet Zarathustra said: "Man must first think for himself, before he can believe." Thank you Rev. Wendy for opening minds & broadening views - "educating" Americans. Shine ON & Be Well - Ushta-te!!

Greetings of peace. I thought I'd listen to some Rumi on my drive home but the guy expressing the poems was over the top breathy, and trying too hard, so I thought, nah mate, I need something a bit more real. found this and so far so good! All praises to the Almighty who designed this into my day. I subscribed. I can do more of this. X

Raise yourself to such great heights so before every destined act, Allah himself asks what is it you desire. Khudi can be explained as the physical individual or even the person within. Ego, thoughts, spirit and all that is hidden. We're the best of creation. This is a call to reflect that. Heard it from Junoon first. Later Iqbals poetry. Khudi: one's self

The last sermon of the Prophet-peace be upon him- is known as Khutbatul Wada'. It is mentioned in almost all books of Hadith. Following Ahadith in Sahih Al-Bukhari refer to the sermon and quote part of it. (See Al-Bukhari, Hadith 1623, 1626, 6361) Sahih of Imam Muslim also refers to this sermon in Hadith number 98. Imam al-Tirmidhi has mentioned this sermon in Hadith nos. 1628, 2046, 2085. Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal has given us the longest and perhaps the most complete version of this sermon in his Masnud, Hadith no. 19774. This Khutbah of the Prophet-peace be upon him- was long and it contained much guidance and instructions on many issues. The Prophet-peace be upon him- gave this sermon in front of a large gathering of people during Hajj. Whosoever heard whatever part of the sermon reported it and later some scholars put it together. It is a great khutbah and we should all pay attention to its message and guidance. Following are the basic points mentioned in this khutbah: O People Lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefor listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today. O People Just as you regard this month, this day, this city as sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds. Allah has forbidden you to take usury (interest); therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. Allah has Judged that there shall be no interest and that all interest due to Abbas Ibn ‘Abd al Muttalib (the Prophet's uncle) shall henceforth be waived. Beware of Satan for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things. O People It is true that you have certain rights in regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives, only under Allah's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat you women well and be kind to them, for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with anyone of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste. O People Listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to. All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black, nor a black has any superiority over a white- except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim, which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not therefor, do injustice to yourselves. Remember one day you will appear before Allah and answer for your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone. People, no prophet or apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born. Reason well therefore, O people, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Quran and the Sunnah (Hadith), and if you follow these you will never go astray. All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listened to me directly. Be my witness, O Allah, that I have conveyed your message to your people."

Rumi writes about attaning enlightenment and not to seek this world that is only a chimera, but the real world that is not physical. Holy people and saints All around the world, in different ages and religions, were seekers also in spite of their religious dogmas. Jesus Christ said Do not seek to store your treasures where moths corrupt and thieves steal but seek ye your Father which is in heaven......

My longing comes to my lips as supplication of mine O God! May like the candle be the life of mine! May the world's darkness disappear through the life of mine! May every place light up with the sparkling light of mine! May my homeland through me attain elegance As the garden through flowers attains elegance May my life like that of the moth be, O Lord! May I love the lamp of knowledge, O Lord! May supportive of the poor my life's way be May loving the old, the suffering my way be O God! Protect me from the evil ways Show me the path leading to the good ways

Yousef Ghaneemah : stop spreading lies! In the desert of Arabia, where there was no sign of culture, how nomads learn to read and write?! The so called prophet, himself was an illiterate person! When you make such a claim, make sure you have historical FACTS to support them!
