No it's not what he said but Afrikaans has evolved into his own language we are not Dutch but a mix from various European nationalities and it gets annoying when people refer to us as Dutch it's like denying our identity

@@Avan1949 why are you offended? Most people call my language Dutch, witch it IS NOT. I was born in South Afrika and I Speak Afrikaans, we got NOTHING to do with Holland/ Nederland. I did not say anything about the origin of my language. I said it got nothing to do with Dutch, it is a registered language, it is taught in schools and University’s…. Please try to understand, in the Angolian Bush War, ( where we fought Communism) the Dutch Government funded our enemy. Talking about the origin of Afrikaans, most Afrikaner’s have Dutch , German and Frence ancestry , you will see many Dutch Surnames, German Surnames, like mine, and Frence Surnames So, my question to you is, why are you offended if you can not even speak Dutch!……. You and Holland and Vlaanderen en Belgium, got NOTHING , NOTHING to do with my Nation. So what I suggest is, go learn Dutch before making such a absurd comment. Please , do not be offended , I did not mean to offend and I sincerely hope my explanation do not offend you either. May be the way I say stuff in English come across different then how I mean it, English is my third Language ( Zulu is my Second Language) It warms my heart that you like our music, enjoy it!!
