The Execution Of The Brutal Torturer Of Prague

Inside of Prague during the Second World War, there were a number of brutal Nazi officials who caused terror and chaos. Reinhard Heydrich was known as the 'Beast of Prague,' as he carried out public executions and slaughter, but Josef Pfitzner was the Nazi Deputy Mayor of the city and he was also complicit in the horror. Pfitzner welcomed Hitler to Prague on a number of occasions, and at the end of the war he was arrested and condemned for his actions. He was executed in front of a huge crowd of 50,000 people in the last public execution inside Czechoslovakia.

not-so-fun fact: his son was my head teacher in an upper-austrian high school from 1970-1972. my mother told me on my first schoolday we kids should be gentle and friendly to him, because he had seen terrible scenes in prag after the war. years and years later we found out that the whole family was forced to see the execution

@@phillipgarrow2297after the war there was a lot of that. The allies brought German families to auschwitz etc to see the horrors first hand. Families were made to watch executions. The idea was to instill example, so one wouldn’t dare come back to cause trouble/seek revenge.

You have it correct, the Nazis never considered the possibility of losing the war. They believed they could do anything to other human beings and never pay for their sins. Their sickness caught up with them.

My feed comes up with these mini documentaries. As a kid I was fascinated with “The World at War” narrated by Laurence Olivier. KZbin makes it so easy to watch these all the time. My mother is constantly surprised when I tell her how the algorithms work. I have uploaded a video of her recollections from her childhood and professional career. What a privilege to archive those memories.
