I went to the same store about a month ago and bought the large waterbath canner. Honestly I love it! You can fit 15 qts in it and it fits very nicely on the stove!

Florida Crystals is from my home town here in S. Florida. It's neat for me to see something from my town. My daughter works in the plant that bags that sugar. Perhaps she bagged that very bag. Lol.

I absolutely love the Amish store near me (I’m pretty sure it’s the same one you shop at) They are so nice and extremely helpful! I get a lot of tips from them! They have almost everything in stock and if you ask for something that they don’t have, they will sometimes order it for you! Love watching your videos. They are extremely helpful to someone like me who is just starting out with gardening and food preservation!

we have a tiny Amish store near us. I have only been once, because I wasn't impressed. It did seem as though the prices were high. I can only imagine how expensive it would be now. Your store looked so much better. How much were the spices? Your storage space looks very nice.

Everything has gone up everywhere. I guess I find it strange that you're surprised. Anyway, I hope you found all that you need.

Would you mind sharing how you plan on using the molasses? Thanks.

You can add molasses to white sugar to make your own brown sugar, also good in cold remedies I hear.

We do not have any Amish stores anywhere near us. I wish we did, I have seen some amazing prices for grocery hauls from these stores it seems especially on spices. I have a couple of questions for you. I notice I saw a lot of pop top cans in your pantry, and I have them also but I have heard they will not last as long as the other type of lid , what is your take on this? I have arthritis and it iis much easier for me to open them. I don't go through them very fast, I bought them for longer term storage. Do you rotate through yours so often you aren't concerned or have you heard about this? Another question I have is other than the apple sauce I didn't see a lot of fruit. Do you have fruit trees? I only have a pear tree and it is heavy with fruit this year so I will can as much as I am able. Last year I made Cinnamon Pears with red hot candies. This year I may just try for light syrup. I have purchased several cans of pineapple, fruit coctail, peaches, raisens, brown and golden, and dried cranberries to make bread with. I did get apple sauce. Have you ever tried PB powder? I have not. I don't know how to use it. I do have 4 jars of peanut butter. I keep it in the fridge to keep it fresh. For cookies and sandwitches and some Asian food. I also have an All American Canner, 921. I wished I hadn't bought it. It is much too heavy for me now. I have to get someone, usually my husband to lift it for me, then lift it off the stove when I'm done and hold it while I wash it. I've had a major back surgery and have 4 fused vertebrae and 2 rods in my lower spine. I think from being a Nurse over 30 years. I'm small like you are and at 69 it makes things more difficult it seems, I've lost a lot of strength. I just love your videos and watch everyone. I am so glad I found your channel. Thank you for taking time to make them. How many people are you cooking for usually?

Yes the Amish stores usually have great prices and large supplies. I do go through my cans regularly so it's wouldn't be a problem for me. I don't know for sure but I don't see why they wouldn't last unless the top was damaged. We planted fruit trees last summer, apples, pears, peaches, paw paw. We just planted several mulberry and another apple, if they survive. But we aren't getting fruit yet. I get a lot gifted fruits from my lovely neighbors. I have tried pb powder. We don't like the taste for like a sandwich, but it works well in baking. You just mix it with powder per their measurements. I'm sorry you have such a hard time lifting the canners. They are all so big and heavy. I wonder how much lighter the presto canners would be. Still very heavy when full of course. That's one thing I love about my ball freshtech water-bath canner, the valve to empty so you don't have to lift it. I cook for a family of four, husband, son, daughter. Thank you for your kind words and for watching. God bless.

Maybe you can find better prices at Azure Standard? Do you have a drop near you?

Nope there are no Azure drops this far north.

This is just making me upset. Nearest Amish or Mennonite store is 5 hours away 🙁
@michellejaggard96572 жыл бұрын
At least you have one somewhat near. I live in the Texas Panhandle and I would have to cross 5 or more state borders at least to even find one but I'm thinking more like 7. To be honest I don't think with the price of gas 5 hours would be worth the savings. Maybe you could find a great reason to go there 1 x a year and stock up? Maybe a good little 2 night vacation spot to go fish or something, Quilt show? Great fabric show, State Fair? Country Fair?
@karen95402 жыл бұрын
You could make it an overnight trip if you need to do a big stock up run..
