If Lions lose Ben Johnson or Aaron Glenn, hopefully, Lions will give the new replacements longer contracts so the local & national media can stop focusing on trying to have other teams steal them from the Lions.

I'm absolutely praying he stays one more season AG can go he'll absolutely be missed but Ben Johnson is crucial to this offense especially if we don't win the SB this year which is gunna be a miracle with the injuries I hope there's some truth to the rumors his family doesn't wanna leave and are happy in Michigan give the man a pay raise if necessary
@msuobad24 күн бұрын
I think the opposite is true. This offense is so loaded I dont think we would miss a beat if we had like Scotty Montgomery or Tanner Engstrand as OC instead. AG is working magic with less talent and was rated the #1 coordinator in the league by NFL players.

ya he’s not staying. he’s been waiting for the bears job for 2 years sweetheart.
@ethanrais197724 күн бұрын
I don’t know they talk about Ben Johnson missing his window, but he could always go to another team and be an offensive coordinator and do a great job and get a job later. He’s only in his 30s or 40s you could be a head coach in your 50s and 60s.

We're good if Ben leaves. Our O line is the best in the NFL and we'll hire the right person. He will be definitely missed but we'll be okay 👍

He keeps saying him and his family love where they are. He loves everything about the Detroit organization. Honestly seems like he’s fishing for offers to use them to get a hefty raise, telling sheila hey I could get this here or there and argue for a bigger check here. Nothing about anything he’s said makes me think he has any desire to leave Detroit anytime soon
@jasonwalters342024 күн бұрын
I believe that Mrs Ford will pay him enough to stay. Let's be honest there is not a better job that Is going to available. If he gets the money he wants and more importantly non of the head coaching headaches that would come with any team that will be looking I see no reason to leave MCDC. I don't want to hear about how great of an opportunity the bears job is. If you think the only problem they have is just needing C. Williams to get better your so wrong!

Agreed about the Bears. That's a dumpster fire of an organization right now.
@RG-gv8ss24 күн бұрын
The bears job is absolutely NOT where the lions were 😂😂 the frugal owner is still there . I think it’s the Raiders , or bengals/bills If McDermott doesn’t go to the SB this year I think he’s gone and Ben Johnson would absolutely take that job in a heart beat
@jeremims904423 күн бұрын
If Bengals open that's the job.
@RG-gv8ss23 күн бұрын

Bears or Jaguars are the most logical landing spots for Johnson if he goes this year. Saints should want Aaron Glenn; I don’t know if he wants to deal with their roster issues. Jets have major front office issues, but their roster is better.
@jeremims904423 күн бұрын
Bears have major front office issues as well
@criticalmissives924523 күн бұрын
@ I don’t disagree; just think the Jets issues are worse. As a Lions fan, I’d be ecstatic if both coordinators stayed; I just don’t see a realistic scenario where that happens. Feels like Glenn is ready and able to lead his own team. Ben Johnson too.

I think he'd like the kind of team without that storied recent history. He sounds like the kind of person who doesn't want to be overshadowed by Bellicheck's legacy. Someplace like the Cleveland Browns, for example (not sure what he feels about their management, of course).
@chrisdelisle395423 күн бұрын
@@szahmad2416 I imagine the Browns position would be much more inviting if the quarterback situation there was stable. I figured the Pats job might be more intriguing because Drake Maye is a good place to start. But you have a point. I don't think he'd take the Bears position, but it would certainly be a great story to go head-to-head against his former head coach. Honestly, I don't know which situation stands out. Is the Bengals head coaching position going to be open?
@szahmad241623 күн бұрын
@@chrisdelisle3954 no idea, to be honest. I was just thinking that Ben Johnson seems to be motivated to be "the first" at something. I mean, who the hell would be motivated to be OC with the Lions back in 2021? And his words in terms of testing his limits were intriguing. Agree with the going head-to-head vs. former coach being a great story. I'd LOVE to see the strategizing between the two coaching staffs. On the QB stability with Cleveland, remember that the Goff situation was uncertain up until just this summer; he was originally thought to be just a stand-in till the Lions got the Real Guy. I imagine stabilizing the QB position with Cleveland might be concurrent with BJ's signing. I can't imagine that the QB slot is as bad as it is with the Cowboys or Jets.
@chrisdelisle395423 күн бұрын
@@szahmad2416 Again, that might make a great story. Maybe I'm in wish-fulfillment-mode, as I would prefer we only played against him every 3 or 4 years, as I think whatever offense he cooks up would be tough to beat. On a different note, I'm kind of haunted by Valenti's point that most of our offensive line might not be around for too long. Every year, I think we've got to replenish both sides of the line in the draft. I hope our young backups - injured or not - grow into their roles and fill in after the departures of some of the other guys with no sag in the line's strength.
