The Lions made statement picks. They bet the house on Gibbs and Campbell. If these guys fail, it won't be like if Will Anderson somehow busts - if Anderson busts, most people would chalk it up to "who could've guessed that?" rather than saying the GM is a dunce. In our case, if Gibbs and Campbell bust, the heat will be on Brad Holmes big time. Holmes put it all out there. He bet on himself and his staff. Now we have to just wait and see. Personally, I'm enjoying the Holmes and Dan Campbell ride. One thing you can't deny is that they are a very interesting duo. With Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia, we were boring and bad. I find the current regime fun to follow and watch, good or bad. And we finally had some good football at the end of last season. That stretch clearly galvanized Holmes and Campbell and made them feel like they're on the right track. They're oozing confidence and it's exciting. Of course now they have to execute.

Brad and company have a really good feel on where a player's value really is relative to other teams. The fact that Brad got anything for Okudah is impressive. If Brad can manage to get something for Swift, a guy who we bought already broken and is held together with duct tape, it will make the Gibbs pick worthwhile. I'm on the fence about Gibbs. RBs these days can't stay healthy. You look at Reynolds, basically a walk on, i.e. Netflix Boy, who can be a great RB with a great OL it makes you wonder why pick so high for a RB. If Gibbs turns into Swift with constant injuries, it will have been a mistake. Then again, if he's a Pro-Bowler, it was worth it.

Nolan Smith is the most respected player by other players from the uga 22 national championship team. If you watched them play ever (with him on the field), you would know he is always getting everyone lined up on the dl. As far as between the ears what the hell is this show talking about His major is in the mathematics and he plans to follow up and complete civil engineering in the next off season. Don’t know where these guys are getting info. The only flag was that he had a torn pec last year

I'm shocked teams passed on Smith as well. I would have loved if the Lions got him at 18. I doubt Jalen Carter will be a problem for the Eagles now that Smith will be there to keep him in check. The Eagles got who the Lions should have in the first round.

Here's the thing you have to explain to the dummies. Every single draft pick ever made is a chance, risk, gamble. Because hindsight is so valuable (not really). At 1 point and time BARRY SANDERS was a risk. So was Andra Where r u. Get the point. Seem like good picks. But only time will tell. Philly might've gotten very rich. Or has some tasty trade bait.

I used to know some ex lions players way back when. I remember when Andre Ware showed up to camp- one look and they said - nope - guy can't play at this level - that was all. I can't tell you exactly why but they knew that easily.

I'm glad these guys don't work in the Lions front office.

Guaranteed they tried to get cute and trade down and still get Bijon. Then they just reached for Gibbs

If a team is set on a player they want, the last thing they're going to do is trade down further when it isn't guaranteed that player is still there lol

Based on the reaction in the war room Gibbs was their guy.

I agree with Valenti usually but I hate this pick. We need defence and had our pick of Jalen Carter and Tyree Wilson. Obviously Jalen Carter must have had a terrible interview so I understand not taking him but we needed d line urgently

All I have heard since last year is how good they believe Josh Paschal is going to be now that he is healthy.

We need WR LB TE D-Line. Williams out 6 games lost Chark no Hockenson. We have St.Brown that's it. I would have taken T.Wilson and D.Kincaid.
