Pretty cool mill at the end. It looks as though if you were to unplug the chute right there water might still flow to it, not that it would travel much farther than that lol. Seeing the rat run across what looked like water down the ore chute makes me wonder about what was "water" in the bottom of the trench at 11:00?

The adits were a bit unremarkable, but you never know till you check 'em out. The scenery is amazing though, and that mill you found at the end of the video is really cool. I could be happy living somewhere like that.

Thanks for showing the mill! My family owned a grist mill. As a child, my grandparents would take me to visit our cousin who still ran the mill. I was too little to remember much, other than prepping and starting the turbine, and using the belts to turn on whatever machine was to be on. (The mill is no longer running and has become a park.) As such, I still have a soft spot for mills. :)

@15:33 - that stone and those branches were clearly placed there with purpose. Perhaps the miner buried something precious there, like a pet, or something. Also, I have a question. I know you said the stack was recorded as processing antimony, but through what process? I know stibnite is mined in Italy, so was it obtained through that? Or as a byproduct of some other more? With some of the quartz I could see, maybe this was a gold mine?

Interesting flue at the start, a few of our engine houses have seperate flues too, some run up the hillside, gives a better draw of air thus hotter cokes for the steam engines. Top adit looked a bit of a climb, that was a nice cut winze just inside. Looks like the rest are just a lot of trial adits, still worth the climb up to look at. Love the old mill at the end, looks pretty untouched, did you go inside it?

One thing that stands out about these mines is the complete lack of evidence people were ever there. No carbide tins, newspapers beer or soda cans. Outside of that bucket and a few timbers and stoles, they are completely clean. Not even a little graffiti.

Obviously, you were disappointed and we were disappointed but I'll bet neither of us were as disappointed as the people who thought this area of this mountain contained untold wealth. The quantity and uniqueness of colors in some of those short tunnels causes those with just enough knowledge to be dangerous to say there HAS to be precious metals within those rocks but they would be wrong which caused me to wonder how many miners knew what oxidized rock and pyrites contained gold and/or silver? Visible gold and silver are quite the rarity and tho I think I could tell the difference between worthless rock and valuable ore I wouldn't stake a mine's survival on my judgment. In all the working mines I've been in and miners I've spoken with I've never thought to ask who has that task at a freshly driven face. A miner at the Homestake gold mine in South Dakota was high grading as much rich ore as he could get in his lunch box nearly every day. On one particular day he loaded his lunch box with some extremely rich ore and when he got home he emptied his box on the kitchen table to examine after he cleaned up. Upon re-entering the kitchen he was shocked to see all his ore was gone. In a panic, he asked his wife where his ore was to which she replied, "I don't want you laying those dirty rocks on my table so I threw them out the front door." Rushing out, there they lay in the graveled street untouched by children playing or neighbors calling kids to dinner. The point is even the richest of rich ore, ore in the three to four ounce per ton range looks to the untrained eye like something you might border your garden with or crush for your driveway. Anyway, that is what I was reminded of seeing the oxidation and colors at 5:50 or thereabouts. Thanks for sharing.
