@thevideolancer Жыл бұрын
It looks like you have an older version of After Effects that applies masks differently. You need to place the Mask layer above the Texture Fill layer.

i wish there was a deeper explanation on the reasoning of the process, because I don't intuitively understood why those specific steps gives the result it did. awesome effect though and definitely handy, maybe I'll figure out on my own why it works the way it does

Commenting to remind myself to watch this later today. Amazing. Too bad I bought Lockdown awhile ago. But supporting plug in designers is also good! Christopher Vranos worked his butt off on that. But it’s true, nearly anything you can do with a plug-in in after effects you can do without it, with a little extra elbow grease.
@lincolnsmithtbp Жыл бұрын
Well, so this is about half of what Lockdown can do(and actually easier than using that plug-in) obviously you’ll not have any 3d export ability and it’s more like a frame by frame solution. But still, for the every day needs for surface tracking this is more than suitable for people who don’t want to spend nearly 200 bucks on a plug-in. Also if you could set up your video like how Lockdown preps their pre-comps, it’ll make your tracking even more successful, and make this useable for videos with all the problems you mention needing to avoid.

3:45 How do you select the rock text as reference layer? How does it know what to fill with?
@thevideolancer Жыл бұрын
Maybe After Effects detects a layer that is one frame long.

Im wondering if i can do the same but with a precomp and replace the text with a logo or whatever to do like a template.
@thevideolancer Жыл бұрын
Yes good idea. Only the user of your template will have to independently generate the fill and insert it into the project.
