People said the 80s was the decade of Wall Street and "Greed is good". But for me, the 80s was the decade of love and innocence, of endless summers playing in the fields at the back of my house with my friends, of my granny's lentil soup simmering on the hob of the gas cooker, of The Neverending Story and The Dark Crystal, of He-Man and Thundercats... and of not yet being acquainted with grief and loss. The 80s was the last decade where we still had an innocence about us. Where TV shows still had a moral lesson to teach, where the good guys defeated the bad guys, where there was an energy to everything that most everyone could recognize. I was a young kid during this time and remember learning many lessons just from watching TV, you can't do that today. For anyone that lived through that decade I'm sure you could agree with what I'm saying. In today's world we've lost that innocence and I'm afraid we'll never get it back again. If I had the chance to go back I would without hesitation. Everything just seemed right.

People today are even too scared to just enjoy what's out there without analyzing if it fits there religion or political views. Why do you think Billie Eilish ran off with all the Grammys this year. What she did has roots in the Cure and Punk music and it is interesting and refreshing. Pisses the divas of today off because they are trying so hard to be perfect but Billie and groups from the 80s are allowed to be themselves.

Yes, Shawn. It seems like every decade in the 20th century had a personality. But when we entered the 21st century, everything went to slop! No personality, nothing iconic. Just plain blah! Christmas 1988, I'm 8 years old, my Dad takes me to Toys R Us to buy a set of wheels for my Vison Gater skateboard. I pick a set of Street Rock Skeletons. Each wheel is a different colour. Every kid down my street comes over to try out my board, and I get to shoot darts into the tree outside with my older friends air pistol that Santa brought him. Thats the 80's right there.

Just Good music, good movies and the only people we heard movie reviews from were Siskel & Ebert not some 12 year old who wasn't even born when the movie was released. Yeah bad stuff happened but it all pales in comparison to the modern day. PS No Covid!!! Seriously if anyone has a time machine I would seriously appreciate it!

GENERATION X Baby!!!! Best Generation Ever!!! This is EPIC!!! 👍😜
@peterfischer54594 жыл бұрын
For sooooo many reasons. Speaking from most developed nations points of view...Hardest working generation in my opinion. Smartest (because experienced street smarts & academically), most loyal, most exploited and most unappreciated taken for granted generation. Many have had parents of the Silent Generation who experienced WW2 not as sleeping babies like the Boomers where they learnt the value of things such as family values. Because of timing they traversed the Hippy movement. For a Xer Gen to get really good promotions, they had to seriously brown nose their bosses, study like zombies to get over qualified (contributing to education inflation - these days to be a cleaner you need 3 degrees), competed against hundreds of others with stagnant economies, high unemployment, high interest rates (18%+ to buy a house) all whilst holding up the successes of the Boomers who literally just walked into their promotions with little to no effort at all and borrowed the countries to the hilt in debt for future generations to deal with. X'er Gen is the last of the loyal generations and most employers know it, (which employer today expects their workers to hang around longer than 2-5 years?) so they hold back Gen Xers salaries and promotions because they are sooo good at what they do they are too valuable to promote and know because they've spend decades in the company they'll never leave anyway or they'll lose their payout or be too old to be hired at the same pay rate elsewhere. The Gens following us, just walked on by, promoted by mummy and daddy bosses from the Boomers willy nilly bypassing the Xer's.. Many X Gen's carried their parents and looked after them in retirement, and saved their arses off. Yep, I'm a proud Xer, who never inherited anything from anyone and have earned blood money for every single thing I have today, which isn't much BTW... Xer's didn't have the Internet to make them millionaires whilst we grew up... Now it is possible with the web yes, but because we are so dam busy by the time we finish work today, we are too dam tired to do crap. We carry the load. If the proverbial $#%@ hits the fan... guess which Gen cleans it up? Gen Xer's were shafted well and truly. Even the silent generation had a pension to look forward to, we don't even get that. We now must work till we drop. Retire at 60-67 LOL and live off what? 401k, Superfunds... LOL when the that time comes Share Market is gone, toast, nothing, nada. Who's gonna pay back the Trillions?! Not the Boomers the wealth they created for themselves off those loans will get handed down to the Y and or Millennial Gens (many boomers - derivative from the Hippy era remarried a dozen times) Then when we want to retire, the Boomers have already sold their homes, their Shares their businesses so just at the point in time we finally take them over or win them... down they go in value because the largest generation (Boomer) is getting out and the supply / demand has swung. Can't win. Anyway, that's my gripe for today :):):) nothing personal LOL. Well the 80's were great and left some good memories. This is an awesome video.

They say the 90's was the last great decade. But not as great as the 80's. In this decade there was a lot of innocence just as in kids and grown ups alike! The culture, the people, there was this freedom unlike the one we have today. Neighbors were like family members that lived next door or down the street. All of the kids from the block knew each other because they went to the same school and played in the street in the afternoons while the grownups watched. Not being worried but happy that we would only go as far as the corner just like we promised and we did! That we could ask to spend the night at a friends house and just a phone call from our friends mom was more than enough! It was a time when promises and respect meant something. The 80's was a magical decade!
