you usually need at least 4 villagerds

i typically go with 7-8 per boar. its easy to lure them as long as your 3 squares away from the boar your villie wont get hit and you wont have to worry bout loom early if you master this- even lured my enemies 2 boars and went castle after 12 or 13 mins.. but i was using Mongols as they get a 50% hunting bonus which i heavily abused... usually use that for a scout rush but killing 4 boars is over 900 food. IN DARK AGE... LOL.. I won that one for sure. Killed all my enemies sheep and deer to. Huns & Mongols, Mayans & Goths are my favs.. Not including some of my favorite team civs besides Huns & Goths.

Kemo_Meme Keep it up ! its not hard to do just keep an eye on em.. stay close to tha boar but not to far... literally 3 squares away and that boar will run for the hills just tease it all the way to your mill/TC and you got your enemies boar. Macro some villies to snipe it before it eats your scout/ew alive. Sometimes if i am in a hurry or just have the resources ill put a mill up in the middle and just lure him halfway and take the food there.. as long as your getting THEIR boar they will be behind alot of food & youl age up first guaranteed unless your scout/EW dies.

I'm still sad you left the caster scene, in my opinion you started it all. Beautiful to see this decade old video now and hear the words voobly and fraps, and see a game with classic micro. Apparently shooting the boar with the tc and pushing deer wasn't invented yet. Also goes to show that once you have a pro that meets his match, they continue to outwit each other with new tactics and strategies.

This is possible.I played AoE 2-3 years ago activly.One match 3v3.My team killed other two player in first 45 min but third guy survived,went Imp and massed Paladins.They were all around the map and he won 3v1.We occused him for maphack but he was pro.We resigned eventualy.

So much difference between moderare and standart. I was really surprised and almost lost my first game against them because of early feudal attacks. But the moderate AI is pretty stupid with rams, he kept trying to make them and his paladins attack my towers and castles beyond my walls, not actually attacking the walls. So they just stood there trying to cross while getting showered by arrows. I only played two games in moderate (one was a 1v1) but they kept burning their gold by throwing paladin after paladin on my walls. Some trebuchets too, but they're easily dealt with.

I know the viper plays a lot, joins games on voobly fairly often. From what I hear he's a really cool dude. But if you mean do people still play, then yeah absolutely. Voobly and gameranger have aoe2, and steam has the hd version. All three still have players of all skill, though more new players play on steam

James Brooks I know what gameranger is since I use it for cod4, but what the hell is Voobly o.o. Never heard of it. So which one would you recomend? Hd likely because of the new players, but, actually now with my rought memory, steam doesn't have the standar aoe2 I think? Sorry for asking such simple things, but a recent source of info is most likely my best bet on trying to get into this older games. Really it's just hard since there are normally a lot of variation and at times people play on different patches, never really learned to track that type of thing since I only played quake3-cod4-cs-tf2 for the longest.

Wouldn't the best strat 3v1 be to just sit back and build up? If he tries to attack one, the other two can attack his undefended base. If he sits back, soon enough he'll be facing 3 massed armies. Doesn't matter how much micro, you ain't beating 3 armies.

The best strat is coordination, when you have three players all attacking at once you're basically done for as long as they aren't totally out of it, Viper can harrass all three players given the right situation and knowing him he probably will also to do his best to prevent this. I'm sure there's a reason why he lost the 4v1 Match.

***** Still, I think these people are probably rated like 1800 on Steam, or 1400 on Voobly. They seem to have down build order, are good at flushing, keep the pressure up, cooperate nicely etc. They aren't noobs, that is for sure. TheViper was just playing Godly in the opening phase, hardly taking any casualties while dishing out damage. His late imperial game is insane when he racks up those clicks per minute on the keyboard.

The way Viper plays is absolutly insane, if it was'nt for the pop cap limit of 200, he would of went with a huge force bigger than it already was, but he still managed to win none the less against 3 player's. Very cool to watch, enjoyed it. =)

This was an excellent game from viper it was just amazing how he had kept a great defense at the beginning and then killing off all 3 players at the same time sending his army everywhere around the map which was crazy. Well done viper for your excellent win.

Hotkeys. I've personally played since i was about 5-6 years old and i'm 21 now. And i didn't start using hotkeys till the later years and i'm still a noob so to speak when it comes to AoE2. Micro-managing can be hard.

bheboxful You break your army up into squads using control+# You can also produce from a distance in the middle of a battle by pressing the building hotkey and whatever unit you want to make. In the end in boils down to high APM or actions per minute

A flush is a feudal age rush, so skirms, archers, spearmen and/or men-at-arms. Drush is a dark age rush, just using militia (both of these to disrupt the enemy economy) and booming is getting to the castle or Imperial age fairly quickly and building a really strong economy before attacking your enemy.

Your fav civ is Byzantines (mine too), so I figured I might see if you could find an old game, early 2000s. It was between I think Arch_Koven and someone else. If you can't find it easily asking around, a synopsis. He or the other player, can't remember, wins with Byzantines by gracefully handling a rush and a followup attack with almost no military, and almost saturating the southern half of the map with just TCs, no walls. He only went on the offensive late game, after it was clear his opponent couldn't attack fast enough. That, to me, fit the spirit of the historical Byzantine strategy the most of AoE games with Byzantines I've seen. And I never saw an extreme boom like that again, and I'm not sure how broadly useful it is, but it was the first moment I observed that in most cases, in any type of strategy game, the stronger economy wins. Even when I rush I still find myself trying to boom as a subtle form of map control.

I played a 4v1 once, me as spanish against my noob friends as aztecs, on the central america custom map. Man that was intense, eventually they fled to "cuba" and turtled there, i broke a hole in the island-wall and unloaded a bunch of transports, D-Day-style. Good memories.

Meanwhile, my scout dies whenever I try to manage my economy, or the boar kills my villagers if I'm repathing the scout. What would really actually be interesting is a game where several players control one single color (and give each other such instructions as "you scout I boar" or "I manage the economy and you raid as soon as we get to castle age").
