My wife and I were there probably 2 and a half years ago. The water was 6-8 inches shallower then - the rain was crazy last year. Anyway, I'm digging your channel with a shovel. We don't have nearly as much stuff to explore down on Delmarva, so I've been living vicariously through your videos. Keep it up!

I have been to Lititz Springs Park many times and am well aware of the caves. These are obviously limestone caves and have a lot of water running through them. My question is, why there are not any potholes in the cave area? I would expect some of the caves to collapse over time, considering the water should slowly dissolve the internal cave supporting structures? Have you learned anything about that while researching these caves for your presentation?
@bradtipton9864 жыл бұрын
@Bill Bond With acid rain becoming more prevalent, I guess you can expect more sink holes. I live near Palmyra where several very large and serious sink holes have formed and re-formed after repairs, these last 3 to 4 years. A major contributor is injection wells, used to drain acid rain water. There are no "exposed caves" locally, however.

The headwaters of the Sacramento River is in Mt. Shasta City, Ca. It's a spring that the water just bubbles up out of the earth. A lot of people fill water containers at the spring. It's at the base of Mt. Shasta, the volcano.

Love the ducks. There is park 30 minutes from me. I used to go and feed a couple loaves of bread to them...now they frown upon it. Does the water freeze during the winter?

first time I've seen that done to caves. I've seen it done to springs but they obviously don't have larger portals

Excellent video! Thank you so much! You teach physics. You must be very smart. I was (am) terrified of physics and when I finished biology and chemistry in high school, (we were required to take 2 sciences) that ended my science education, until I got to college. lol But I've always wondered if I could have tackled physics. I hear terms like "gimbal lock" in movies like Apolo 13 and think "NO! NO! That smacks of physics, can't do it!" lol Maybe one of those Dummy books? lol

So what is the date in Nov. When your speaking at Lanc. Co. Hist. Soc.? Like to be there. Boy, with all the rain the spring is gushing. I haven't been to the spring in years. There is also Donegal spring at the old church. I believe it yeilds 1,000,000 gals. a day. It is a historical church, near Maytown, and there was the Witness Tree located in the church yard. This is where the congreation pledged there support for the Revolution. I believe it wad taken down in the 80s as it was dying. A huge white oak. I can tell you of some other places I think you'd be interested in at your talk.Thanks most kindly! DaveyJO in Lancaster Co

I’ve been inside. You don’t even stop at the hole in your video I guess because it seems the least likely one. You can stand up inside and look back through the wall. You might be able to squeeze a dozen people in there.
