Anyone who works in the woods knows the distinct differences between hard and soft woods. I happened to visit this area just after the damage took place. Seeing a tree with a 20 inch trunk blown over is not hard to imagine but there were 70 ft.+ oak, beech, maple, hickory etc. snapped off 20 - 30 ft. up. That's crazy wind strength. Thanks again Cliff for another nice video and for visiting DelCo.

Didn't know there was a tornado there. Hubby and I lived in Ridley Park back in the 70's. Beautiful area so full of history. Thank you for this video!

Thanks Cliff for getting us out in the sunshine. It's hard to believe the amount of tornado damage.

It's even beautiful in its own way with the tornado damage. That area is actually beneficial to all kinds of wildlife as the wood decays and the forest slowly returns.

Went last Spring almost all the trails were closed. Roads were closed due to large tress falling. Park is not far from NJ and De. Brandywine Battlefield not that far from here either. I want to hike it one day but I will wait awhile. Thanks for filming. Yes there was a tornado and bad damage was done to the park. Also Chester,Delaware,Bucks counties large Quaker early settlements.

Funny you commented that, I was thinking if you put your ear to the grave you would here a ghost moaning “I want to lay down” lol.

Interesting. It is amazing the damage even a small tornado can do. That is too bad; I'm sure it was a lovely spot.

Great weather for a hike Cliff. Seeing the devastation around the area of the Russel plot reminds me of a time back in 1995,July14-15; camping in the Adirondacks. I was back off the beaten path when a micro burst happened. 100 mph winds, trees were falling, raining sideways! It was a mess. 2 hour hike in and 1 1/2 days hiking and climbing out, it was awful. Thanks for sharing the great places PA offers. 👍

there used to be no trees when the graveyard was built, so you could see the mansion from the hill. I suppose you can see it again now.

Thanks for the video Cliff! Hate to see that tornado damage! Springfield Ma. and suburbs, where I am from originally got hit by a devastating tornado on June 1st, 2011. It will take years for the landscape to recover!

Hi Cliff, wow so much devastation in that area, why have they not tried to clear any of the debris ???. A strange request to be buried standing up, I see his idea though. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx 💖

If you take a small led light like the O Light Baton Pro or something similar., you can read most faded or hard to read headstones. Check out Sidestep Adventures. They use lights all the time to read lettering and dates on headstones in Georgia. And according to Find a grave the broken headstone was not broken before the tornado.

I wonder what sort of clean-up might be going on. I see trails have been cleared as well as the cemetery and the gas line. There are a lot of trees down. My comment is because I am concerned about regrowth coming back through mess.
