They look incredible and I’d love to see a continuing series of Raptors conversions. Some Terminators, Outriders and Warsuits/ Dreadnoughts would be great. I’d even like to see you tackle Sternguard Vets and company heroes as Raptors, mainly because they’re the least Raptor/ tactical looking SM units. Would be cool to see you make proxies for them or even heavily convert the original kits.

I love the look of the Martian soil under the Raptors but I can’t help think this would be counter intuitive to the Raptor’s mentality. The contrast is beautiful but I can’t help think they would do something to blend in with their environment.

You are right but we got a collision of different mentalities. - Raptors are being stealthy so their armor should fit the soil or their surroundings. - Paintingwise if you have a colorwise boring scheme you have to break that up with the base as a contrast

@@harlekincd I suppose that would be the case. I would rather my minis make sense and be lore-accurate then be pretty. That's just my perspective though. Perhaps Pete should have gone with a chapter that was less based on military tactics and mentality if he just wanted pretty minis.

Please continue building this force. Raptors are my favorite chapter and seeing you do more with them is always a welcome moment to my day. As for models, I'd like to see your take on Raptors Sternguard Vets or if you want a more Kit Bash focused model, you can make your own of version of Lias Issodon, the chapter master of the Raptors. There are no official images of him but he's said to be one of the finest marksmen in the Imperium and has a specialized bolter called 'Malice' that uses the same specialized ammo as Sternguard Vets.

That’s genius enough for another comment and a Patreon sub. Using a Contrast paint with airbrush thinner for a pin wash is genius and allows for easy, custom colors of pin wash without having to go enamel and get a bunch of extra products. Thanks for the idea and demo!

weirdly nough would love to see a gladiator tank done up as the Raptors. I think itd be very cool to see a large space marine tank with more modern military kit such as slat armor, spaced armor or ERA, cammo netting, more sensor devices and of course packs hanging off the sides for handy storage bits. Fantastic video as always! I’ve been wondering how to make decals look more “natural” and that light dry brush idea is great, gotta try that! Personally I don’t use the gloss layer underneath, I use Mr Hobby’s Mr Setter when placing the decal, letting it dry for a few hours, then a couple of coats of Mr Softener with drying time in between, works great for me for dumb curved decals that initially don’t look like they’ll stay on.

I love the idea of putting relatively much effort into the main armour colour and then painting pretty much all the rest just black and highlighting it. Looks great and must be a blast to paint. Keep the raptors coming!

surprisingly this blending of primaris armours has been done in lore, if you look at the armour a supressor squad is equipped with omnis pattern armour that looks to be a blend of gravis and tacticus.

I think it'd be great to see some heavier units in the Raptors style. Oftentimes when the chapter is shown, it's usually represented by scouts, phobos units, and generally lighter and more maneuverable marines. However, taking a less conventional route and giving that tactical flare to some bulkier units like terminators, eradicators, or aggressors, could provide an interesting kitbashing opportunity while also resulting in some of the most unique models for a Raptors army.

With your heavy use of phobos components in the Raptor conversions, I'd love to see what you do with the actual phobos marines, infiltrators and/or incursors. I think the units fit so well in Raptor lore/ideology and would love to see a conversion!

I much prefer this method of targeted shading over covering the whole model in a thick layer of oily sludge and then wiping it away. It allows for much nicer detail when your painting and doesn’t drown out all of the work you put into it.

Gotta love canonical practical marines. The helmets were a great choice, i dont like them for my army, but for all the reasons theyre not for me, they work well to add to that more modern military feel. Really looking forward to how this progresses especially when you get to character or chapter master bashes. The primer/under color was a real clever call to contrast the armor base color and also emulating a little bounce light from the environment.

Those look great! The only thing I'd change is the direction the head is facing on the first guy you made. I would have liked to see it facing the gun arm like hes jumping backwards and firing while fading away kinda thing. Brilliant work,looks great.

IMO, kill team is the perfect reason to paint a bunch of different versions of the models in question (tyranids from different hive fleets, necrons from different dynasties, and obviously different space marine chapters). Have a little trouble coming up with a 'narrative' reason they would all be (working) together, but maybe it's a 'super' version of Trazyn or a W40k version of Marvel's Battleworld...

There’s one conversion idea I’d love to see you tackle. There’s tons of lore around various Marine characters being described as being much taller than the average Marine/Primaris. There’s even a unit of Black Dragons that have a mutation making them considerably taller (along with the extra bone growths). So could we see a tutorial on adding height and size to our Marines?
