What I really like about your tutorials other than your obvious proficiency is your economical description. There is no filler, you stick to the point quite rigorously. I've returned to the hobby after a 30 year hiatus and bought the Silver Tower box set to give myself a project with lots of variety. There is a noticeable difference between the minis I painted before and after consulting your tutorials. Thank you.

This is such a great tutorial, model looks awesome. Particularly like the way you did the hair and turquoise robes on the chest, will definitely use these methods myself - thanks so much!

I really enjoy your painting tutorials man, especially the fact that you list the exact colors in each video that are needed, as well as each stage highlighting the paint you are using to perform the step

really enjoying these tutorials, I've just painted my first mini in around 10-15 years. Could you do a video on how to begin and basic care of paints and brushes?
@PeteTheWargamer8 жыл бұрын
Sure, sounds like a good idea. Anything in particular you would like covered?
@martinbisiker70538 жыл бұрын
Im in the same boat. Some things that would be useful would be how you clean your brushes after working on them and especially when moving between vibrant colours like red which may dye the bristles. Also how do you go about getting a good mix on a pallete, do you just scoop from the pot using an older brush then mix or something else?
@laam9998 жыл бұрын
+Martin Bisiker yeah, that's the kind of thing that would be really helpful, your use of colour gradient is great too, I'd love details on that. thanks for the response, much appreciated.

I really dig these tutorials - They're really well filmed, and the sound is just as good as the video and that's so incredibly important. They're also no more complex than the official GW tutorials, and that's so great! Length-wise they're also brilliant. I get a really good, rough idea about how I should paint a miniature from these. I don't need an 8 part video where you breathe into the mic. Keep it up! Also, can I convince you to do an Iyanden tutorial? They're my favorite Eldar army but I've never really gotten them down. I'd also love to see some Biel-Tan, or even some advice on how to do Eldar tanks! I think Eldar are tricky because some of their base models are very... Monotonous? A lot of them are just three colors, so it'd be interesting to see how you really make those colors stand out.

Thank you for the kind words, I appreciate you taking the time to comment! Most of what you point out is what my key aim in these tutorials are, as short as possible, concise with a good quality audio and video to show the viewer everything I'm doing. So to hear that I seem to be hitting all of those targets is great news. In regards to the Eldar, I do enjoy painting yellow so if I can get my hands on some Eldar I might just take you up on that offer.

one thing you might want to suggest about painting over where things need to be glued together - be careful. People really need to understand that gluing paint to paint doesn't hold very well for long periods of time. It is better to use poster tack in small pieces as a mask put over those small sections to keep paint from getting into those places (put the stuff over the adjoining sections only, and then the rest of the mini can be painted without worrying about getting paint into the sections). Then, later, people won't have to worry about the pieces falling off (usually taking surrounding paint with it). :)

Good tip, I usually carefully remove the paint with a blade on the area I wish to join before using superglue to bond the two pieces firmly.

Just watched this for my mistweaver. Thanks for the awesome tutorial. What brushes do you use? They seem to hold a point pretty well

btw, have you gone over at all what tools to get, best quality for what is being done, etc? for instance, do you use magnifiers (head gear - like jeweler's eyewear)?

I have mentioned in a previous video that I use a Daylight lamp and a wet palette for painting but that's about it in terms of special equipment.

When painting in multiple parts like with this model, do you have any trouble gluing sections together afterwards? Do you do anything special before gluing? Thanks!

I worked with sub-assemblies before. I think most important is not to get paint on the contact area and little else.

y'know what I think would help us all out? going over which area that we should choose to paint first vs leave for the end :)
@PeteTheWargamer8 жыл бұрын
Eric Berkbigler it varies from miniature to miniature but a few general rules of thumb: paint from the inside out, painting harder to reach areas first will help prevent spillage. Paint the darker colours first, if you spill over onto a light paint with a dark paint it's harder to fix your mistakes :)

The War Gamer your tutorials are I think the best on youtube I've used for about all my silver tower miniatures just not the sigmarine which I heavily converted. For this one I just wondered how you painted the inside of the cloack and the innerleg? Great painting btw you win any prices with these?
