@@jicodude hey mate its a turbosmart kompact bov. There is a microphone in the engine bay to amplify the sound though and in person isn't quite that loud

I just bought a 2010 MR with 26k on the odometer. It has the MAPerformance tubular manifold, 1000cc injectors, cams, ets charge pipes and FMIC, intake, 93 tune and ETS catback and catted Downpipe... Kind of sounds exactly like this car!! Lol. I'm new to the Evo world so i really appreciate your channel.

Sounds amazing! RA owner myself :) Have you considered using a mouth-mount for the gopro? The head mount feels like you're being pushed up into the roof a bit aha

Hello Jackson, i hear the pop sounds randomly, have u remap ur car or it is factory for Evo-X? Mine does the same, but i imported it from the USA second hand, so i am not sure if it has remap or not.

Hey mate yes that is because the car has a test pipe so when backing off it backfires a little, it's also tuned to slightly do it too

When you downshift with the stick is there a difference compared to the paddles and does it kick? Asking cause I will prolly buy a ralliart this year Thank you!!

No it's the same either way but the paddles are quicker to shift with i think as there less movement to them so engages faster

What are your thoughts on the lancers with blocked off bov? Mines be tuned to 210kw with a blocked off bov, sounds insane but do you know if it’s bad for the car or the turbo?

Hey Matt, so I used to have a blocked BOV on my car and enjoyed the sound and didn't get any issues from it. But AK Racing wanted me to refit a BOV to tune as they didn't want to run the risk. You often hear both sides of it as to whether it does or doesn't cause issues so its up to you if you want to run the risk (i personally wouldn't anymore as my turbo has been upgraded and I'd hate to damage it and have to replace as it won't be cheap)

@@JacksonStrain yeah some say it doesn’t damage and some say it does, I’m moving up to goldy next week on Monday and planning to get a few things done at AK racing which will include a new turbo so I’ll probably do the same put it back on just in case, also do you recommend any good turbos as I just have the stock Ralliart turbo at the moment and was going to go with just a rebuilt Ralliart turbo but I’m not really sure on what’s out there

Not really haha I mean this is a full recirc bov similar to a lot of others and to the OEM one while others are vent to atmospheric or adjustable to run any combination of the above. The Turbosmart I run seems to have a decent flutter sound compared to the GFB I tested which makes a different sound

I’m looking into getting an evo and I’ve heard lots of bad horror stories about the MR transmission. What’s your opinion on it?

I've had no issues with mine after 6+ years of ownership and putting around 80,000kms on it. The clutches are starting to slip so I'll be replacing those soon but with a 13 year old car with close to double the factory power thats to be expected. If they do go wrong it can be a pricey fix but best to keep that in mind if you buy one and be pretty fix it if needed

Also once you fix it once at a reputable shop it will be good for many years to come

It got a rebuilt SST from AK Racing a few years back and had been maintained thoroughly ever since, they should all drive like this unless the clutches are slipping.

Its a turbosmart kompact bov, I have a microphone mounted on the engine bay so it sounds loud. Also this type of bov is known for its flutter sound rather than a whoosh sound that others make

So it's the BOV that makes the sound of flutter and the Turbosmart Kompact is good for that but it's the intake that makes it louder. So if you want Loud flutter you'll need an open pod intake and the bov I run then it will sound similar to this or to mine which you can also see videos of on thr channel
