I'm really wanting to cruise Alaska, despite living in northern Michigan with similar scenery. I keep better in cold climates, so this sounds like the perfect cruise for me! No one needs to see me turn moldy because I wasn't kept at the proper temperature! Thanks for sharing with us! 💜

Hi We are going with my brother and my daughter's family in October. (19th thru 28th) on the Norwegian Jewel so it will be a week earlier than yours. They just removed all but 2 of the excursions in Ketchikan. There are only 6 in Skagway. There are no dog sleds, helicopter rides to glaciers, zip lining, fishing excursions that I've seen on previous cruises to Alaska. There are still whale watching tours in Juneau and Icy Strait and both guarantee whale sighting. I called a park service visitor center whose web site says they will be closed and they say that if a cruise is in port, they will be open. I'll recheck closer to sailing. Interesting video. It's the first I've seen discussing October in Alaska. Thanks. Janice

I’m simple. Find a bar, get an Irish Coffee and enjoy. 😊

I sailed NCL Seattle / Seattle October 15th 2023, one week. I agree, October was not a good month for touring. The days were short & few fun excursions were open. If I ever do this again, it will be when the days are longer & it will be ONE way, from whittier to Vancouver. On the upside, there were Northern Lights one night @ about 1-2am, but unfortunately, I slept through it. The ship should have arraigned a "wake up call for Northern Lights sightings". I got to view it via facebook, the next morning, from those that were awake & posted their photos. I enjoyed NO LINES getting into Red Dog Saloon in Juneau. A fun time & the live country western singer, who has been singing there for 21 years, was fabulous!!

We went in May last year and had a wonderful time. I would stick to May or September for the shoulder season. There''s a reason only one cruise line goes there in late October.

The White Pass Rail Way if it does not go to Canada and turns around and back to Skagway.

I actually want to do a very late or very early AK cruise so that I can take that train ride hopefully in a snowy environment. (As It is we keep going in July so we can fly to see the bears when we are in Ketchikan.)
