I've found that a small, thin neck knife works well in an office environment. Something minimalist like a Cold Steel Bird and Trout. Run the tether a little long and run it under a button-up shirt. Undo one button, reach in and get the knife.

The CRKT Scribe is an excellent one to carry as a neck knife out in the open since it looks like a flash drive but it’s is TINY.

My 1st neck knife was the ESEE Izula & I wore it for many years. I have several CRKT Folts versions & my current EDC necker is the Spyderco Subway that stays tucked in my shirt. Also, a simple "X" cord pattern on the sheath will make the knife ready for scout carry, upright carry or 45 Degree draw carry!

I am an disabled preson with heavy form of multiple sclerosis and I can walk only with help of two german crutches so both of my hands are occupied. I am wearing neck knife as my EDC tool, I have many neck knives and most of them I wear on the bead chain. Most fancy ones are made of titanium, but I have some stainless steel made too. You can put the bead chain in the "coat" from 550 cord and leave only few inches "uncoated".

Great video I enjoyed your humor. For your assassin carry 2 loops of stretch cord would make it perfect for a larger blade. Run the cord from the two holes close to the blade then through your belt. On the other side as well. That keeps the knife from moving around. If you understand what I mean. I had a holster made that way when I was in the service. I used to carry under my BDUs. Always like your videos.

If you have a particularly large blade that doesn't want to sit in it's sheath upside down, I find that carrying it like a shoulder bag works great. Either under your jacket or hanging low and strapped to the tigh.

First off I truly enjoyed the video. So you know Scout carry is to mainly keep the knife hidden as well as out of the way (like you were stating longer blades can be uncomfortable on the belt well this is one reason why you would scout carry). The other thing is most knife sheaths actually come with a Tactical belt/molle attachment which are designed to specifically hold the sheath and blade any way you want. The one issue though is the so called Mercenary carry which you normally won’t do that for straight edge fix blades it was more built around the concept of hiding blades like Karambits built specifically for self defense and will usually come with a shoulder harness (if it was designed or intended for Mercenary carry) where as if you use the one you made that blade would not only be swinging around and hit you in the face while trying to defend yourself but if the retention of the sheath isn’t extra tight then you’re at risk of your blade falling out which could land on your foot so most people won’t do Mercenary carry unless it’s specifically Karambits or attached to a Molle system which naturally angles the knife to fall away from your body instead of straight down near your foot. This is why most people either wear it on their belt, thigh or Molle carry because it minimizes any risks or issues to the user. fixed blades are also for self defense where as folding is more for utility type use such as boxes, wires and so on but there is exceptions because there are some folders specifically designed for self defense but if they aren’t specifically designed for self defense I would never trust them in that kind of scenario. My suggestion to anyone who wants or likes knives would be find one that is designed for the scenarios you’ll need it for (for example you work in a warehouse then get a basic folder since you’re mainly box cutting, if you need for self defense, survival or in general a tough blade then go with a fixed blade).

Hey there, wow...thanks for the super informative comment! And that does make perfect sense about the merc carry harness. The style and ability to hide the blade does lend itself to a karambit or defensive/offensive blade. I may have to revisit the scout carry too in a different video and I agree with everything you stated. As I mentioned, I'm not an expert with fixies, but I am getting more into them and starting to appreciate them more. Watching your video, I need to say. On the Izulla 2 knife. I got a clip from Amazon that allows this knife to be carried on my pocket. This knife is with me at all times and is my favorite go to knife. I do also carry a neck knife with 6 of the 10 C's of survival. It's all micro gear. But works well. I

Yea, I dunno... I think you need more knives... Anyway, I have found the "rip cord" method to be the best for me, though I use much shorter lengths and like to tuck the knife behind a belt loop and belt for a securely canted result. This method is very limited by sheath width and handle length though.

I’ve been carrying both a neck knife as well as at least one folding knife for several decades. The search for the perfect neck knife is never ending. To me, the neck knife is a last-ditch tool for either self defense or when I need to cut something but have no other knife on me. I sleep, bathe, and swim with a neck knife on me. Having it available 24/7 is totally the point. I love the Izula (but not for neck carry), and I also love the Folts Minimalist-so it was cool to see you feature both. I've seen those before! I feel like I wouldn't be very qualified to make one until I had a bow to try it out on... which I'm not adverse to! Folders break on me often no matter how cheap or expensive they are. I love fixed blades especially my mora knife for bushcrafting and a pioneer woman knife for fighting

Well, this was a fun video and the humor is appreciated. I carried a folder for years. While convenient, most folders are not suited for heavier work. I find a small fixie to be more useful and much stronger. My current carry is a Bradford Guardian 3.2 in Magnacut. It isn't a cheap blade, but came from the factory shaving sharp and will work for many tasks. It would be a candidate for neck carry if I could stand to have anything around my neck. I have the larger Guardian 4.2 version for heavier tasks. I don't like to carry it on my belt, but it would be fine on a pack strap or on the pack. It was fun to see the Obake in your collection. I think that is one of the coolest blades I own but I don't carry it. It will work IWB even for an old fat guy like me. It is wicked sharp but not suited for anything other than light duty tasks.

@@TheWeaversofEternity After buying my first larger Bradford, I sent him a note asking for a sharp spine for bushcraft/survival work. The Guardian 4.2 or 5.5 would make an excellent bushcraft knife with a sharp spine. The sabre grind would also be very strong. They did an update to the Guardian 3 and 4 recently (last year or so) and added an effective choil to the grip end of the blade. This alleviated my primary reservation about the design (I cut my index finger a couple of times choked up on the blade) and I immediately upgraded to the 3.2 and 4.2. Fun stuff! Cheers!

Smith and Wesson makes a folts minamilist. Its the exact same knife and way cheaper lile half the price i got mine for like 12 bucks on smkw. And its 2 inches so legal mostly everywhere and its 8cr. Some folts minimalist are 5cr. So thats a plus.

Hmmm... I don't know if there is a way to untangle all that cord other than with a lot of patience lol. My paracord storage box can get messy sometimes too and even with smaller hanks, they get all messed up. The only way I deal with it is by slowly untangling everything by hand. If I can think of something though, I'll do a video about it!

Neck carry isn't just for fixed blades. I've been neck carrying a Spyderco Dragonfly 2 for about a year. I've got a Linos Sheathworks tip up kydex sheath and it works great. A gentle pull releases the knife, but a quick tug with your fingers pinching the spyder hole will snap the blade open when you unsheathe it.

For your clean finish why don't you tuck the ends back up vertically through the Solomon bar rather than coming out of one side? you don't have to melt them and everything stays nice and tight.

I prefer to carry my fixed blades with a dangler on the sheath. I love my Mora, but it can be uncomfortable to clip the sheath direcly on your belt. So, you take a length of paracord and melt the ends to make a loop. Then, simply make some cobra knots down the length of the loop, leaving another loop on the end to clip into a sheath. And bam, easy diy dangler. For me, i would rather not have my clothing covering the knife for legal reasons. A dangler makes that a lot easier.

Good stuff! An option, if carrying knife makes you feel uncomfortable: pruning shears or secateur. Doesn't feel so strange to use in public. Even scissors can feel annoying to start using publicly. Some old school pruning shears easily cut thick branches (30mm). This way you can make walking sticks in the forest (as you could with a knife as well, obviously). You can infact dissasemble the secateurs, and obtain some sort of knife. Avoid the plastic ones though, because the handles seem to break. Secateurs don't necessarily require a sheath. And they are very cheap. Anyway, #suggestion how to make a sheath. Either with leather or sth else. Great upload as always! Thx! Oh and I have to mention, Paracord bracelets make great giveaways.

I think it might be wise to find out if you are legally allowed to carry fixed blades concealed where you live. In California, it's illegal to conceal carry fixed blades. I'm digging that rig you made in the last scene. 😎

For sure a wise precaution. In Canada we can carry a fixed blade or knife, but it boils down to intent. You're not allowed to carry for self-defense, but if it's for any other purpose such as hunting, utility, or work, then it is legal. But of course it will also depend on the discretion of the police officer you're talking to. They probably won't believe you if you say you're carrying a 7 inch bowie fixed blade for "utility" if you work in an office hahaha

Living in Florida... I've carried paired "large and small" folders for years as work tools. It wasn't untill they opened up our carry to a more "constitutional carrry" that I've started carrying neck knives as well as belt fixies as concealing isn't an issue. I own a crkt cleaver minimalist, morakniv eldris, several esee izula, a condor bushscot, and several of my current favorite neck carry the Kizer Deckhand. I also own both the 1st and 2nd versions of the Vosteed Mink. I've neck carried and horizontal carried and even dangle from belt to pocket carried... but haven't tried some of those. Seems I need to dig out my paracord and try a merc carry now that we are actually seeing some cooler weather here.😅

Interesting. But I still prefer "scout carry" for long blades. In this position knife still can be covered on belt by your sweater, shirt or t-shirt, if you need to take off your jacket. But if you do this with "mercenary carry", you will got alot attention.

I cut with hacksaw,filed the edges,took needle burned a hole through the fabric. Put big washers on small bolts tighten down,doubling the nuts.
