I have high functioning Aspergers and have trouble adjusting to new places I would want to do the fun activities on the cruise but it would take some adjusting time. I wouldn’t need a one on one I would just need someone there in case I get nervous so I think this would be good for me.

yes a cruise can be fun just a few hiccups i found the express line a big help with my anxiety your both amazing exposing her to different situations is difficult but its better than shielding her,as an adult i still get upset at the moments i missed as mom was afraid i’d be teased or hurt anyhow another inspiring video

The express lines in any form of travel have been a HUGE help for us as far as plane/cruise stuff went. I didn’t travel much growing up so a lot of the things we do are new to all of us. We want her to be able to see the world and not be limited and the younger she is, hopefully we can build off that and take longer duration or distance trips.

It really was a cool experience, none of us had been before and really it’s pretty well rounded to offer something for everyone. It would be so much easier for us to cruise if we were closer to the coast though.

Glad you shared this experience, I have never had the courage to go anywhere away from home overnight yet. We are thinking of trying an overnight stay at an island which is straight off the coast from where we live. It's only a 20min boat ride. Hopefully it's am awesome time for Abby, I have to admit I'm scared, but if we don't try we will never know, and Abby might just have the time of her life 😀👍.

Exactly!! It scared us so much, but we will never know if we don’t try. Worst case scenario, it doesn’t work out and then you know and don’t do it again. OR try again once better skills are developed or different interests etc. we like to revisit things and places that didn’t necessarily go great with Braylee after a good while has passed to see if she might like it (within reason of course) I hope you do take the chance and that it goes wonderfully! 💜

This year was Cyprus for my mom and I. Next year, we'll fly to Italy, and probably cruise over to Spain. I think Italy will be Exciting because I've been wanting to go visit Italy for sometime.

I think Autism on the Seas is a neat organization, and I'm glad it was a great experience for you. I hope TSA Cares will be more organized and consistent throughout the country. It's neat that you had some good experiences there as well. By the way, I gave something for Braylee, but if she doesn't like it, you can return the item or give it away. She might already have it, too. I'm worried about her, though. I hope she's doing better. My favorite show on TV long ago was Mythbusters. They tested the myth that ginger pills were good if you have motion sickness. Apparently, when they tested them on 2 expert well versed in motion sickness, ginger pills worked pretty well.

It is a really great organization! And TSA cares at our local airport was amazing so it would be great if it was consistent. She is doing better, yesterday she was a ball of energy 🙂 We enjoy mythbusters. That’s really good to know!

I am so nervous about the thought of a cruise. My son is obsessed with water and swimming. I would be afraid that he would meltdown or try to climb over the side.

Braylee has her meltdowns, we just managed. It really wasn’t too bad. I worried about that too but she never tried to climb anything and everything is pretty well blocked as far as guard rails and all that. Plus the staff stays in groups and is good about keeping eyes on them. We also did pay the extra for a 1:1 so we had peace of mind.

urgh the muster drills ...i mean I realise they are essential, but they take so long and i am always in the group in the direct florida sun on the deck and never in one of the restaurants in the air con...and why do they take so long?...because even though there are countless announcements about finding the correct muster station and what to do during the drill there is always about half a dozen people of Stupid McStupidsons who wander around and be like, "oh, are we supposed to do something? I was having a cocktail"...I am not natural an angry person, but those folk can go ahead and sink with the ship if there is a real emergency...cocktail n'all! 8:49 Stacey "I just think we need a longer cruise next time"...hint, hint David ;-) Sounds like Autism on the seas are great with how they work with families to have the best holiday. It's always nice to hear when people go above and beyond too. My sister just did a cruise from florida to san diego through the panama canal, traveled through arizona and nevada to see the national parks and is now volunteering in Dominican Republic for 3 months....and me...I get to babysit her cat in Bognor! *sigh emoji*

They do take a good chunk of time. I didn’t think it was that and until I realized that we would’ve had to stand up on deck in the hot sun for that whole time without the accommodations and it just made me so much more thankful. That’s a lot of travel!! Don’t worry, someone has to watch the cat!

No. You still pay for the cruise. The waiver only gives the potential to pay for part of the service.
