Whaaaat IO has a New XL tent that’s cool about 10 more lbs in weight but may be a great solution for those taller campers! inspiredoverland.com/products/io-lightweight-rooftop-tent/ Here’s the covers I use, when the tent is not in use. I love mine. Owned it about the same time as you. I have taken it in the snow before. Wasnt quite sure what the temps were, but the tent definitely kept us dry and warm. I started with a heated blanket when camping in colder areas, but with this RTT, it was very comfortable. It felt very insulated. I also keep my blankets and pillows inside the tent and also my rifle. It is very secure and a plus, due to my TJs small real estate.

Solid review of the tent. I have had mine for around 6 months and just finished an overlanding trip from Ohio to Colorado to Utah and then back. I didn't get to camp as much as I'd like to because of issues my Jeep was having. The best part of the tent to me is the easy set up and take down. Makes late nights and early camp mornings much more enjoyable. I also love the low profile and the light weight. Didn't even feel the tent on the long drive. I kept it on doing all the hard badge of honor trails too with no issues. Holy cross, Poughkeepsie Gulch, Steel Bender, Elephant Hill and Metal Masher to name a few. Its not the most luxurious tent but the simplicity and size/weight are the big draws to me!

It’s tomato and clam juice commonly used to make michiladaas. It’s an alcoholic beverage, you may know them as a bloody marry, but without vodka instead beer . They are actually really good when paired with food. It’s a Californian palate.

@@ATEMOFFROAD most RTT are Not 4 season. the 4 season ones usually have a double wall, the traditional canvas/material type outer wall and a quilted insulated inner wall that can be added on for winter. still with that most people have heaters and extreme cold sleeping bags to use also.

I have no problem storing my sleeping bag and inflated pad and ladder and zipping it closed. It's a little snug but completely doable.
@ATEMOFFROAD
@ATEMOFFROAD 4 ай бұрын
This tent is one of the first from IO and I used to store all of that into the tent as well, I’m pretty rough with my gear though . back in January (my last snow trip in the green tj.) the zipper on the IO tent broke I feel it had to do with closing the tent while I left the ladder, and bag inside. Possibly stressing out the zipper . I was able to get the tent to close and buckle down but couldn’t zip the tent. As of now the tent is at a custom upholstery shop. It would cost way to much to replace the zipper (not worth it for the overall value the tent) so I decided to have him sew new material to the top half of the tent and use snaps and extra buckles to secure the tent down. This should save the tent, and still keep it waterproof I hope. So far the repair is 300 but that can change.its been two months and I haven’t heard anything back. Just want to get back on the trail. FYI Thanks for watching 🍻

Any issues with putting it away wet and having the mattress get wet? This is what I have always wondered about RTT and how people don’t end up on wet mattresses.
@ATEMOFFROAD
@ATEMOFFROAD 11 ай бұрын
If it rains I use the awning/ door to get inside and out. I usually plan to only go inside once. And that’s to go to sleep or hang out. If it gets wet inside from rain, I open it up to air it out as soon as I can to wipe it down and fan it out . Never really had the mattresses be soaked tho, just moisture. That’s how I do it.

It's good to see you're not burning your eyebrows off with the gas fire pit anymore! :P I'm definitely keen on an Inspired RTT when they start selling over here down under, might have to get the XL though, being over 6' tall. As for the zips, you could always carry a stick of solid dry lube to help keep them maintained?

Ha we were just talking about this. Probably helps keep predators away, and cowboys dogs can track them, I’m sure they are chipped tho. Cilantro is not for everyone but we eat it in this house 😂 I can’t wait to start making a real fire 🔥 I think it’s great they have a XL now that’s the tent you will want , it’s awesome IO is listening to future customers, seems like they are doing it right! 💪🏼 if you can find a bar of fry lube that would be great. @@ATEMOFFROAD I guess if that’s what IO recommends, then that’s probably best. Perhaps just for the in-between maintenance a dry lube bar could be useful. Only issue with the XL tent is it would look huge on a TJ. :( I wish I liked coriander, it’s just a very unpleasant taste and smell to me. Genetics have a lot to do with it apparently.
