Bill, you know I take everything you say into consideration because honestly from the start of your reviews to now, I’d say that you can actually work for a master distiller and be so successful. You’ve come along way since you started. You’re a genuine person and wouldn’t recommend anything you wouldn’t want. Thank you Bill.

Oban and Talisker are probably my favorite Scotch Whiskies. Made just across the water from each other. They share some of the sea flavors. Great for sipping by the fire on a winter evening.

+Kris Gasteiger I find I usually like a peaty scotch or a heavy bourbon for really cold nights. Oban and Talisker remind me of summer and spring. Maybe it's a good thing to be reminded of those during the winter but i count on the high ABV to warm me up!

A bit late but I'm sipping a dram of this as I'm watching. I love this and it's a staple for me. Despite having tried Arran 10, Bunna 12, Quinta Ruban, Glen Scotia 15, Deanston 12, Laga 16 and many more, this just hits the right spot for me. Love the oilyness. Also, a couple of drops of water opens it up.

Went and done a distillery tour up there last year. Really good tour and only about £15, get to try the 14 as well as stuff straight from the cask and you also get a Oban Glencairn to keep. Really like this whisky and its slowly becoming my favourite. Also if you go to Oban go check out the seafood shack it's amazing.

Another great review WD. The anecdotal reference to your first taste of Oban was an interesting personal touch too. Its amazing how the senses interplay with ones memories to create redolent moments from a simple sip or nose. It's not all about the ABV or ingredients I guess. Good company and experiences can turn a decent dram into something nostalgic, or mythic even. Based on your review, I thjnk I will have Oban as my first foray into Scotch.

Began with Glenfiddich in 1973 at $12.50. And Levit. 3 years ago I found Oban. My new favorite. Also have 14&15 year old Fiddich, Glen Morangie, 15 yr Glen Grant 100proof, and Laphroaig 😱. Strange stuff, that.

Whenever I try a new whiskey, I sit down with your channel, so as always, I have the product to hand. I think I paid around $70 for my bottle at Costco, although I've seen it for less at Total Wine. I like that it's 43% proof, and it's very smooth, and has a nice honey-taste going down, but I wouldn't say that it stands out, at least not for the price.

Hi WD , another GR8 review , U been reading my mind , that one is on my "to try" list !! Odd , Lemon & Salt for the nose , with an oily taste , it certainly does not sound like The Dalmore . I find that to nose very sweet , like a bitter sweet combined with a smoke , The taste of The Dalmore is very much sherry / smoke / dark chocolate with hints of sweet fruits like apricots. I have never noticed any lemon or salt , sound interesting , thanks . I hope you and yours have a super New Year and all my best , Cheers :) G.

Yeah, where I live our cops decide whether it's safe for you to drive. You must have absolute zero, otherwise the situation can escalate very quickly, including a real jail time. That's why responsible drinkers here carry alcometers. As a beginner Oban 14 felt like a bit plain whiskey among all the others that I've tried so far. But to be honest the competition was very strong. I definitely don't say it's bad in any way, but I wouldn't say I'd be excited about it either. It's just a smooth solid drink I would never refuse, that unfortunately lacks any special characteristics.

Hello Bill: Finishing my bottle of GLENGOYNE 15 y.o. tonight. It is another Highland. Here are my impressions. SLÁINTE Mike GLENGOYNE 15 y. o. Highland Scottish Whisky 3/3/18 43% ABV Uncolored with air dried Barley; Aged in Sherry casks from Jerez, Spain and Bourbon Barrels from the USA. This is an end of Bottle review. COLOR: Lightly Tinted Red, with Many Legs running variously. NOSE: A rich lightly sweet grape note PALETTE: Light Creamy Mouthfeel with a light yet full grape note with some pepper rising from my tongue to add complexity, rounded mouthfeel as I roll it around. FINISH: Sweet and Creamy going down with a light pepper tingle in my throat. There is a mouthwatering sense, with the light sweet grape note lingering. 1 drop of distilled water NOSE: Lighter grape note PALETTE: Lighter yet silky mouth feel with some drying on the outer edges of my tongue. The rich sweet grape note rises with pepper as I swirl it around. FINISH: Peppery going down yet the rich grape note is underneath. Drying on my tongue before a mouthwatering sense brings back the rich sweet grape note. 2 drops of distilled water NOSE: Very Light Sweet Grape note yet still pleasant PALETTE Light Sweet and dry arrival with the sweet grape note in the background. Very Dry mouth feel as I swirl it around hints of wood, lightly spicy FINISH: Dry and Peppery with Tingling on my tongue yet a much lighter sweet grape note lingers as does the mouthwatering sense. This has been an excellent taoscan (taws son) Irish Gaelic equivalent of Dram, tonight. The air in the bottle has opened up this 15 y.o. very nicely. My first glass was still tight and with each glass it has opened up. I loved the 12 y.o. and now I am experiencing the full pleasure of the 15 y.o. I love the way the basic rich sweet grape note and pleasant mouth feel lingered though changed slightly as more water was added. Highly Recommended!

Man, I was JD shooter just because of their dope marketing. Especially the moment where Neil Patrick Harris is drinking it while driving in Harold & Kumar movie. It made me cringe every shot and we were flushing it down with a coke. At that time we thought JD was the pinnacle of industry and never knew that good whiskey existed. Until I tried Wild Turkey (also saw it in the movie) and then (ironically) Ron Swanson introduced me to Lagavulin 16 and it opened the doors for the whole new world. I do like cognac too tho, which is just a fancy name for brandy. As a beginner I'd probably wouldn't really be able to tell the difference from whiskey anyway :D

MadQmike I wouldn’t say low IQ but just unaware. I know people who have 3 double vodkas and then drink a pint of water and say “I’m fine to drive” my only issue with drink driving is more often than not you as the driver survive but the people you hit don’t. Crash and break your legs for all I care but when you run over a 7 year old that’s what doesn’t sit well with me.
