Honestly, given the age of some of the arenas, I was pleasantly surprised to see how modern and cozy they are!
@sevendaughters11 ай бұрын
I've been to half of them now and they're all fundamentally good on some level
@guessundheit649411 ай бұрын
As a (then) Vancouver Canucks fan, the name Ivan Hlinka brings back memories. He was one of the first Communist Bloc players granted permission to play in the NHL. He was in his early 30s when he helped the Canucks reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 1982. Hlinka was a revered player (three IIHF World Championship gold medals) and coach after his retirement (one World Championship and one olympic gold for the Czech Republic).
@sdeepj11 ай бұрын
Hlinka coached the Penguins for a while, however he struggled because 1) these were the post-Mario/pre-Crosby Penguins, so they were horrible no matter who was coaching them and 2) his English was not the best, so he struggled communicating with the players.
@guessundheit649411 ай бұрын
@@sdeepj I don't know where you're from or if you heard the story, but when Hlinka and Jiri Bubla joined the Canucks in 1981, yes, their English was minimal. But as it happened one of the Canuck players at the time was Rick Lanz, who is of Slovak descent (his parents emigrated, IIRC). He was fairly proficient and could communicate with them.

I really like Ivan Flinka stadium, putting the fans vertically is a really cool idea for small stadiums, wish more would do that

Kladno’s most important feature is that Jaromir Jagr plays and owns the club.

And also note about Zimní stadion Ivana Hlinky (Ivan Hlinka Stadion)....the capacity is wrong, it should be 5 944 in total, because 2044 is only seating capacity, there can also fit 3900 people standing. And second note, near Enteria arena is a new stadium of FK Pardubice, called CFIG Arena or Stadion Arnošta Košťála, which was finished almost 1 year ago (on the picture being built). And one more thing, there is a plan, to build new arena in the city for ice hockey, with capacity over 15000.

quick one for you @@Vocas46LP - do Pardubice B and U20s play in Enteria or is there a smaller arena for them?

Thank you for this video. The capacity some stadiums is incorrect as some of them have aditional capacity for standing spectators. For example Litvínov is around 6000 total, not 2000.

These Extraliga arenas are amazing, as are the DEL ones. The ice surfaces have far too many sponsor logos, but I've seen even worse. (Yes I'm looking at you, Utilita Arena Sheffield!!)

Ivan Hlinka Stadio is definitely not the smallest one in the league. Yes, Litvínov is the smallest city in Czech Extraliga, but the stadium capacity is currently 6000 visitors and the number you mentioned (2044) is only seats capacity.
@danielflynn853011 ай бұрын
Which team does Jarimir Jagr play for? I think he’s pushing 50 years old now. He might surpass Gordie Howe. O2 arena looks like you could have an NHL team play there. It certainly could be one because it fits the capacity requirements and I think the Boston Bruins play in a 17,000 seat arena so it’s the same size.
