I can't get over how young Aly is here! What a moving performance of an amazing song.

But that's the beauty of music, is kind of an universal language that brings people together regardless of their personal background. To be precise when I was a teenager people I used to hang out had nothing in common with me but music, and that brought all of us together through amazing years. Nowadays my personal filter to music is just as simples as that: if the song playing talks to me in any level and sounds good and honest, I just give a chance...

Aly is my newest inspiration! i heard her on an MPR radio interview and fell in love with her music immediately. Does anyone else also think she has the voice and essence of Janis Joplin?

I just heard a story about Ally on NPR and wanted to hear a bit more. If she stays true to herself, her art and fanbase will grow. This track shows potential that she can build upon. Now I'd like to hear how she sounds in the studio.

Same here! I was just listening to NPR and ended up here :D Really interesting track. I wish I could listen to the album version right now... But this acoustic session sounds very touching too... Ripely Pine seems to be her 7th studio album,,, I've been into extreme metal the more than 10 years, but this is actually very extreme and emotional than most metal (plastic) bands could ever be nowadays...

She needs a mic on her or closer to her...i know shooting it live makes it sound more raw and uncut but her voice needs to be up more so first time listening can hear the words and enjoy her beautiful voice *Pat Atlantian*

You're completely right. I started out with some alt. hardcore bands, in '98, since then I was slowly introduced to some heavy metal classics, such Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Manowar, and suddenly I was quite into heavier stuff ranging from Slayer to Belphegor and stuff like that. It was a long shot... and I still enjoy this stuff but I'm certainly looking toward a more wide musical spectrum.

@@zeigfeild So this comment was about 7 years ago so I took the time to listen to the song again. It's still not my cup of tea but she also still has a good voice. Nothing narcissistic about that opinion, please get over yourself.

@@stray_dog3960 Assuming your opinion matters when you have zero musical achievement let alone achievement in anything whatsoever. Your narcissism drives you to stand on a digital soapbox to deliver condescending comments to let folks know how exclusive and special your perspective is. You're loud because you're small, a frog living in a well, croaking opinions about the ocean he's never experienced. Of course you can't perceive yourself as a narcissist lmao

@@stray_dog3960what great playlists, classics such as: "Wedding" "Catholic" and "Animation." We should all strive to seek the favorable opinion of "stray dog" the most elite catholic gamer 😂

@@zeigfeild Your funny, I made those playlists years ago and haven't touched them. They do not reflect what I actually listen too now, did I trigger you that badly that your trying to dig up on me now? Well, regardless of how you feel, she is good but it's not my cup of tea, so sorry that offended you so bad. Maybe if you defend her harder, she will dm you to ask you out on a date. Your pretty good at using filler words though, I will give you that.

My listening included the original metal bands, especially Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath when they started, but not much interest since. A short history of my musical tastes, as I lived it, started with '50's rock and soul>Beatles>Doors>Byrds>Jethro Tull>Roxy Music>Eno>Blondie>Talking Heads> and all kinds of stuff since, but I still like all those and many others unnamed. Yeah...I'm old, but I still love music It's funny how tastes change. Sounds like yours are, too. I embrace variety.

And that's exactly why I came here after hearing Ally. She shows potential but needs refining, if this song is typical. There could be many of her songs already that are more finished. Not studio polished and overproduced, though. That's not what draws me, or I wouldn't like something like Eno's "Babie's On Fire" or early punk. By overproduced, I mean 70's bands like Journey and Foreigner. OK, but not what I prefer. As a friend says, "music is love, and love is music." Nice chatting w/you.
