Thanks for the update! A little tip on cleaning rabbits. Take (2) 8 or 10p nails and drive them into something solid(post, tree or smokeshack lol). Put them straight across from one another about as high as your head and a little further apart than the distance of one of the rabbits hind legs to the other. leave the nail heads stick out about an inch or so. The purpose is to hang the rabbit on the nails by the back legs with the belly facing you. Just push the nails between the leg bone and the tendon just in front of the heels. This can easily be done without making a slit there. Now you can have both hands free to skin and dress the rabbit. This will help keep most of the hair off your meat. The nails will be there for years. Many years ago I read that folks up there would stretch and dry the skins of snowshoe rabbits. Starting at the tail end they cut the hide into one continuous strip about 1 inch wide. They saved these strips until they had a bunch and then weaved them into a blanket. The blanket was light weight and extremely warm. Might make a great emergency blanket. The hides might also be used for flagging those lynx i suppose. Good luck to you Andrew.

Nothing like visiting the city to remind you of how nice it is to live in the wilderness. The pace is just so different. None of the city rat race to raise your blood pressure. It's back to basics. Nice wolverine btw. Could hear him growling in the trap. Ferocious creature for sure.

Hey Andrew awesome videos I really enjoy watching them, I think I've seen everyone now. I live in Saskatchewan and i also run a small trapline. I wish I could trap more but I also work full time. I've been to Hay River a few times cause my wife is from Fort Simpson and she has a lot of family up there. That back eddy seasoning salt you use good stuff. We cant buy it here but the wifes cousin sends it to us in the mail. Maybe someday I will have the pleasure of meeting you up there, but keep up the great life and awsome videos.

I am glad to hear that you appreciate your lifestyle because I was thinking the same as I watch your videos. I thought you have a very good lifestyle and was wondering if you realize how good it is. You must find it kind of strange to go from the backwoods to city. They are very different and with modern travel you can be in one environment or the other within hours. Making it a sudden change and a big change.

The camera work is especially good in this one. You go to a lot of trouble filming and it is appreciated. Will should run the traps more often! You can stay at the camp and skin. A triangular file can get you out of a conibear with one hand also. But the trap will be scrapped. I'm surprised the compression spring isn't totaled on the soft catch trap. I thought a wolverine would over extend them. Thanks for posting. And "yes" you ARE lucky.

Hey Andrew you should go in the city more often, your brother and dad had some great success on the trap line. What's with the backup alarm on your snow machine, is that to keep you from backing into a squirrel ha ha ha. Next it will be a backup camera ha ha ha, that's to much technology for the bush. Just kidding Andrew really enjoy you sharing your experiences in the bush with us. Carry on my friend.

Andrew, if you get some old gopros, try to set some up on a wolverine sets and run them on time-lapse. I guess it would depend too on how cold it is out there. But still would make for some great footage.

Great videos as always man, never miss one. When we trapped we never did have a setter or used a rope, always by hand. Don't know why. And sometimes they were bastards to set on soft ground or when our hands were cold. Very f ing stupid of us,I must say.

I can well believe that a wolverine in a trap just a few meters away would be "scary" - bears are scared of those things! Cities are impressive, for sure, but there are a lot of trade-offs, with you contributing your freedom time after time as part of the ongoing deal. And, some have said cities are kind of like big nets that catch whole schools of fish, only it's humans that get caught there. Famous poet named Jeffers said that.

Andrew, I am under the impression, that 2 wolverines have been trapped so far. You said your brother dispatched the first wolverine o the year. Know you got one a few videos back in a 330 Conibear..Maybe one of these was trapped before the first of the year, so I could be mistaken. Either way, the wolverine in today's video is a dandy one. Snowshoes too are good eating. Used to pass them off to my brother years ago as a cottontail..never knew the difference..
