Mr Mani Shankar Iyer, former IFS officer and cabinet minister, is a maverick politician. He is well articulate and utterly honest. He was very close to Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. I still remember him taking notes while Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi used to be on tour to different places. He is brilliant and efficient. It is unfortunate that Congress party doesn't utilise his services for the benefit of the party. There is one and only one Mani Shankar Iyer in the country, who can call a spade a spade.
