The one problem with the afterlife is that people get so obsessed with it, that they forget the current life.

That’s a problem that I face all the time. The idea of the afterlife has been drilled into my brain since I was born, so it’s often all I can think of

COming from a Christian background, the afterlife in the Norse mythology was something that worried me. I had this idea about Helheim being like the Christian hell but thanks to videos like this one where you talk about it I've managed to 1) get rid of that idea, 2) make peace with how it is 3) worry less about death and enjoy life, and 4) lift the weight that was the crisis of faith I was having.

I honestly have no idea where I’m going when I die, and that often drives me crazy. Death is something very often on my mind

Sounds like death is calling you. Doesn't mean you're going to die ne time soon but maybe consider reaching out to the God of death who ever that may be to you

Probably one of your best videos so far, the afterlife has always fascinated me simply because we will never know for sure until we get there. Keep up the good work

I feel, like you, that any of the deities can find someone worthy and invite them into their halls. Personally, I believe Valhalla and Folkvangr are only for warriors. For others that Odin deems worthy, there is Hlidskalf, while Freyja has her hall of Sessrumnir within Folkvangr. And, again, personally, I believe Helheim is a waiting room, so to speak, for those not yet worthy to be invited into a specific hall to await reincarnation.

Maybe in some way the Gods/Goddesses let you choose where to go; if you're a warrior but a family person, would you choose Valhalla or Helhiem? Something like that. Also, excited to be going to the Beltane gathering in May! Skal!

I like that idea and lean on believing the same.

This is definitely food for thought, and I would like to do more research on it. Even though I'm not a seafarer, I'm very drawn to water and feel close to those deities, especially Njord. This whole thought process boggles the mind. Thank you again for such a great video. 🍻

Jacob! You're a hard man to get in touch with! I'm in iowa. And the same as you I believe in gathering the folk. And I believe each of us that are awake to the Gods are being called. As a Norwegian this is so important. Down to business. I REALLY need to introduce you to my friend Benjamin Balderson. He lives off grid off the system in the mountains of California. Specifically murder mountain. He is a true Heathen in his own right. His understanding of the runes and the gifts of knowledge he's been given by Odin is remarkable to say the least. There's something BIG that's being built near the Black hills and I'm going to leave it at that. But I do want to share with you just a piece of his work. What he calls his gift from Odin. So I'll put the link at the bottom of this. But YOU REALLY SHOULD reach out to him. If you in fact read this. HE WANTS TO MEET YOU AND GET IN TOUCH. He wants to build the same thing that you're building. He has a channel on Rokfin ( - Benjamin Balderson- Odin's alchemy) He can also be found on youtube, facebook, rumble. Because you're such a hard person to get in touch with. This is pretty much the only way. So I'm not going to put his other contact information on this public forum. But Jacob I really do hope you guys get into contact with one another. You talk about building the folk and creating something tangible something real you talk about your call by odin. I believe this is very much a part of that. This man drove all the way from California to meet me in Iowa just to simply sit by a fire and discuss the runes. So I promise you he is no slouch. Now I have my own outreach dedicated to mainly Iowa for gathering the folk continuing to put this puzzle back together. But that's not why I'm reaching out to you. This is specifically about you and Ben. Please check out the link below. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pobCdXeLmqpll9U

I am not a pagan, but I appreciate your videos. I got into the Viking culture as a boy due to a book about the Viking religious beliefs, i.e. mythology. I am 13% Swedish and Norwegian, and I enjoy learning what my ancestors believed. Also, the stories about Thor, Odin, and Tyr are my favorite to read or listen to learn good moral lessons.

Hey Jacob. I'm brand new to Norse Paganism. I hope to go to a gathering and gain more knowledge. I also plan on ordering books that you might suggest for someone brand new. I appreciate your content and hope to learn more through the gods

In The sauces we hear that Freja picks half of the warriors from “the val” (val = slagmark in danish, battle yard in English). I think we are going to think methaforicly about it, so that “the val” means the sphere where the people were fighting for life. In that case the people could be all the women, it’s half of the population. I think that Freja with her Sessrumnir (the place with a lot of seats… the ship burrials) is gathering her “heathers army”, the army of love which is going to save the world. (With love in its deeper and more general meaning, not only the sexual act). When you hear (read) the seer song (the song of the vølve) she do not mention, that Freja and her disir & valkyries dies, so I suppose, that her daughters (and sons?) are going to save the world after Ragnarock. After all Freja was part of the old twin god from the vanirs realm, that is to be considered as well too. Well. That’s the thoughts from a danish Vanir-believer.

Yeah, I kind of see Helheim as somewhere that might be a continuation of a life similar to how it is on earth. I don't really see it as a "bad" afterlife at all.
