I did a simmer pot this past week with the same you used, except I got a few more things from my area outside like crabapples, cedar, spruce, pine needles, a little cardamom, and nutmeg. I just learned about making a pomander last week, and then I see this, now I know for sure how to make one and am going to do that tonight, it's Christmas Eve! I'm also going to change out my simmer pot and give it a "refresh". Thank you for your very informative vlog's, it's nice to see all the similarities in pagan traditions that I've been following and didn't realize that they were, or so similar to Catholic traditions. I wish that my mom would see that what I follow isn't so different from her and stop bugging me to go to church, my church is out in nature, in my home, wherever I am, I don't need a building or parish. Blessings, love, and good health to you and your family.

Oh dear Bex. I’m thinking of you. I hope you feel better soon and that your family stays safe and healthy. It is such a hard time, that’s for sure. Here in Toronto we are on lockdown again. ~sigh~ it will be a FaceTime or Zoom holiday for my family. I put up my decorations early this year just to feel some comfort. I’m definitely going to make one of those orange hangy things you just showed us how to do (I forget the name already! Haha. Must be covid fatigue!). How long do they last? Ok. I’ve rambled long enough. We had our first snow today, so I’m going to go out and walk in it. Take care for now. Xo - Moira

You are such a sweet person 💕 thank you so much! We are on Lockdown too (luckily walks are allowed though) and the holidays will also be done virtual but let's hope that at least it helps and we get out of the raising cases again 💪 I totally get why you would put up decorations early - they did bring me much joy and comfort too ✨ and a bit of holiday magick ☺️ hehe the orange thingy is called a pomander ball - they will fresh hold about 4 days but you can dry them out completely in the oven and then they will last for years. How fun - we also had the first snow today so we went on a snowy morning walk and then a little evening walk to look at all the twinkle lights 🌲 so beautiful! Sending you much love and healing energies 😘

Lovely! I understand trees, and the groves the trees grew in, have a special significance in German Paganism. I read that trees are believed to be the homes of good spirits, and burning a Yule Log represented the light, warmth and return of the Sun after the winter solstice.
@Thewitchescookery4 жыл бұрын
Thank you ☺️ And True! We still find lots of evidence of this in the naming of certain areas and places :) I have only heard of the tradition of the Yule log, as it isn't something that we do in Germany but the idea behind it does definitely sound plausible.
@danielkaiser89714 жыл бұрын
@@Thewitchescookery Thank you for this added clarification. The concept of the Yule Log doesn't seem to have a lot of information to find online about it. I appreciate your taking the time to respond with your knowledge .
@Thewitchescookery4 жыл бұрын
@@danielkaiser8971 I did find slightly more info on it when researching in German. Apparently back in 500 B.C. a Bishop did forbid the pagan tradition of burning fruit and wine as offerings on a log during the winter solstice. So it does seem to have its origins there. I will dig more into this and maybe make it another of the #21daystilyule videos ☺️ thanks for the inspiration!

Dear Bex, I really do wish you to feel better and your family members to be healthy and safe. These time I kind of envy everyone who can decorate their homes. I live in a really small flat with four cats so all the decorations would be eaten and played with. My Yule tree is a fir in a planter. I buy it every year from our local environmental organisation. I will keep the fir on our balcony, water it regularly and in the spring everyone who bought it this winter will plant it in the forest in the spring. omg, my knowledge of English tences is terrible, I hope this comment makes any sence :D

I wish you, your family and the kitties the same: health & happiness! 💖 I totally get you on the decor - this was my first year decorating with baby being mobile and it is a struggle to keep him away from all of the decor. He already broke at least 10 ornaments xD I lovelovelove how ecological you are with your fir! What a wonderful thing to do. I will consider something similar for next year because I think it is better than to cut down a tree only to have it die inside. And your English is perfect! Happy Holidays :)

Dear Bex, heehee, cozied up with a spiced rum eggnog and ready to start December with you!! 🤗🥰🙏 --- Always literally giggle when you do your little 'list dance' heehee, totally makes me thing of I dream of Jeanie vibes lol! --- Despite the family turmoil that always happened even more during the holidays, I never ever gave up hope during the season, it is a struggle after 50 years of hoping but you have definitely helped me renew that feeling in all aspects of my life, and I am so grateful for you. --- So excited to learn more about the Rauhnächte!!! The traditional costumes definitely awaken a primal part of my own energy! Love it! --- (also, I keep trying to read your sweater but I can't see it all at once lol.. at least not as yet, hold on, I have to get my coat and boats!... okay, ready for our walk!! :D) ---- ahhh little pup! Did you get a sweater and booties for him? Poor warm blooded Spanish baby! heehee. --- giggles, hello little man 🤗🤗🤗 I love the grey weather lol, I find sunshine depressing :P --- we used simmer pots all year growing up for different reasons! One, was the rare times we cooked our caribbean curries we would have a simmer pot going on the stove to 'mask' the smell lol, but it was also used to raise energy during what we now call 'kitchen magick' !! Like your ancestors, mine also did not call themselves 'witches' but our community sure would have heehee. We generally use orange, cinnamon cloves in Canada, but mama would use hibiscus or jasmine, and cardamon or other island florals and spices! There is actually a hair oil treatment that we would use after it's simmered on the stove lol, nothing wastes! --- You look beautiful always, my beautiful Bex! --- please make sure you take time during these 21 days to take care of you and family! (Well I know you will take care of your family, but include yourself lol) --- I did know that the Christmas tree originated in Germany! So I was glad you included this! --- giggles, baby babbles --- Heehee, was so glad to hear there is actually a tradition for keeping the tree up into February! I decorate for the seasons rather than a specific celebration within the season, so my Winter decorations use to go up November 1st :), now my bedroom is perma winter :D heehee --- but before I kept them up all year, the tradition started in University when my roomies came to me a few days before Valentine's Day and very sweetly, and cautiously lol, asked if I could take my tree down since an official new holiday was starting 🤣❤😂 Fine, lol. So from my 20s-mid 40's I took the tree down on VDay. But for so many reasons, it's now up all year. Although I did have to order a new set of lights and it needs restringing this year! So maybe I will #21daystilyule with you! --- Awwww, the window looks so lovely and inviting! --- awee Bex... the tree looks so lovely!!! --- CHEERS! --- The camera did not get tired of your face, grrrr lol, it was blurry eyes in empathy! --- ahhhh my video also discusses Pomanders!! heehee, we are way too much on the same wavelength 🤗❤🙏 ohhh, I'm always so sad when the video ends, but am so excited we get 21 days with you! Much love and bessings and health to you and yours love! - K.

Hi. I prayed for this video today. I wanted a simmer pot recepy. I have a question: after it summer’s and I’m ready to put away, what do I do with it? If I add my intentions written on bay leaves what should I do? I feel odd just putting it in the trash. Please advice and thank you.
@Thewitchescookery4 жыл бұрын
Ahhh I am glad it was exactly what you were looking for today! What a happy coincidence :) If you leave out the fir needles, you can technically drink the water as a tea (it is quite delicious)! If you dry the spices, you can use them to craft natural yule decorations but the flavour will mostly be gone, so I wouldn't use them in food. As for the fruit, you can use it in baked goods or add them to whatever you are cooking (if it fits with the flavours) or leave it outside for animals to feast on.
@Thewitchescookery4 жыл бұрын
Sorry, forgot to abnswer the bayleave question: Youi can write a word on it that summarizes your intention, then focus internally on the outcome, visualize itr and throw the bay leave in with the rest of the ingredients :) Hope that helps!
