What people need to understand about hydrogenated oils is that is it is a transfat companies are allowed to list 0% transfat if there is less than 1/2 of a gram. meaning that there could be up to 0.49 grams of transfats and they can list that it is 0!! with 2 servings you have already consumed one g of trans fats.

Not really what do you want them to do Spoon feed you? Look at your flour bag and check the ingredients, OK now check the oil and spices and seasoned salt. They have as many ingredients as Popeye's. They government cannot babysit you. They need to get rid of half the reporting they are just adding cost to these items. Put the important ingredients salt, sugar, wheat products, peanuts products, and post the rest on some web sight for someone to worry about. They are killing us with over regulation.

@verios447 жыл бұрын
MrPOPSZILLA no there is nothing inheriantly bad about salt, but what gets you is the side affects. First, it will dry you out. Thats why you feel like drinking gallons of a drink with a salt heavy meal. Seconds it simply is unnecessary. That amount of salt is beyond overkill. Go 6 months with eating low or no sodium and then eat a heavy sodium meal. You will feel like garbage.

One of my first jobs out of high school was working at a Popeye's. It's funny you say that about the mashed potatoes because its literally just a powder you add boiling water to and mix together. Only the rice is made fresh all the other sides including the biscuits arrive frozen. The chicken strips are frozen sliced chicken breast. What you're eating is only refrigerated but it does go through a seasoning process for both mild or spicy.

Don't be shocked by the ingredients. They are normal for the most part. look at your flour at home. Check the oil you use. I was stunned to see 6 ingredients on my flour. Why can't they say flour? It would not last 2 weeks in the pantry if flour was all they used. 98% of these places are reputable and are doing the best they can with over regulations and stupid requirements that just add cost and no benefit to the food. OK in fairness to Popeye's and other fast food joints. The FDA requires ever single ingredient of all the ingredients as well be listed. I looked at my Flour and it contains 6 ingredients. The Oil same way seasonings the same way or worse. So though theses things should be known somewhere, Making them put everything out there is a waste of good ink in many cases. And if you made it at home you would get almost as many. I really like your videos and I do not disagree with most everything you say about all of these items. I also appreciate that you looked on the FDA sight and they said we didn't find anything bad on some of the ingredients. We live in a complex world and the sometimes a well meaning government is ruining a lot of things for us and them. Just put the main important facts out there like sodium and sugars. I love Popeye's! Thanks for this!

I am immediately noting the differences from Popeye's in the states just from watching you comment on the meal. Considering this video wasn't made long ago, I can assert the following things: 0:43 that biscuit looks factory made... We make our biscuits with a ready mix and shortening in the store and they DO NOT look like that. 0:52 why the heck does the gravy have NO ground chicken?! 0:56 the Cajun Rice looks like vomit. 1:14 our poultry batter DOESN'T HAVE ANY MSG 2:42 the dressing is a mix of margarine and honey 3:38 ... the fry and biscuit shortening are based from Palm Oil instead of soybean here. 4:33 it's margarine. we use it for the honey dressing, corn on the cob, rice and some other items [that we do not have on our local menu]

While I appreciate the list of ingredients, if I am out eating fried chicken it is a treat, i.e., COMFORT FOOD. You can't expect fatty (good tasting) foods to be healthy. I try to limit the amount of times I treat myself by eating out to once or twice a month. But if I am feeling stressed, some good comfort food is just the ticket. I do enjoy your comparisons and reviews Wolfe, it saves me time in whittling down candidates for my hard-earned $$.

Last time I ate at KFC, it was real expensive. My breast literally bled. Not it was pink, the blood flowed. Of course, I wound up in the ER with food poisoning.

It all depends what you get, sometimes its dry sometimes its not, some say it depends on the time of day, its with all chicken places, but that rice is real good, it still all depends on your exact order and what happens with it

For the dirty rice, put in a packet (or two) of ketchup. It ramps up the flavor as well as the moisture.

John Gaskill Not in USA it wasn’t. A scientist at the FDA refused to approve thalidomide, preventing the catastrophe that happened in other countries that had approved it hastily.

When my buddies or someone ask my favorite chicken fast food is I say it depends & always comes down to the staff. I love Popeye’s but in my area it seems like everyone knows Churches hails king of fried chicken. I swear there’s always a line & if your order is large a 5min-10min wait time which nobody complains about. Even all the white meat pieces are extra juicy, super crunchy & surprisingly not that greasy since they sell too fast & don’t sit under that heat lamp collecting grease getting dried out. Also you are right about the rice. If the staff doesn’t cook it right on top of stirring it before serving the customer will end up with the dried top layer or could get a bottom scoop leading to more moisture in the rice. It’s always the staff when it comes to fried chicken places cause not rotating the chicken when serving can lead to customers getting dried out greasy chicken especially the white meat. I go for the breast & thighs cause the thighs has the best & most skin out of all the pieces.
