This legendary 30+ minute set in BABYMETAL history is called by some the "Miracle at Sonisphere". Imagine being 15-16 years old, touring outside of Japan for the first time, originally set for a small performance tent (expecting maybe a couple thousand to show) to being upgraded a couple months before the festival to the main stage in front of 65,000+ people BUT 95+% of them never heard of you, some came to hate on you (based on their videos up to this point like "Gimme Chocolate" which had gone viral a few months before and thought they were a joke or gimmick), and these Sonisphere crowds are known to throw bottles at the acts if they don't like them! But by the end of their 30-ish minute set, the crowd is chanting "We want more! We want more!", which you can hear at the end of this video which was the last song of their set. They had the largest pits and wall of death's, as well as sold the most merch out of all the acts performing at that event (Metallica, Iron Maiden, etc). This show was the start of them really blowing up outside of Japan and is considered a major moment in BABYMETAL history. This is why this show is my favorite of all their shows! Great video and reaction! Keep up the great work!

Great! & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 The phrase "Dame Zettai (= No absolutely)" is originated from police campaign against illegal drugs which had started in 1960s. So this song implies that "Ijime (= bullying)" is considered as harmful and addictive as illegal drugs. Although we have not been able to eliminate "Ijime" from our society yet , we have to continue our efforts at home and in school. In this video we see many mosh pits that are good signs to welcome bands. But I love more to see that the excited crowd gradually turned into enthusiastic audience. And when three girls started to speak some words in the interlude, loud cheers quickly subsided and the audience even tried to listen to what they were saying despite that the people could not understand our language. I am emotionally moved whenever I see that scene. After the performance, people in the crowd became happy, so did Kami band, and I am sure that the three girls fell asleep very happily that night.

Great reaction. This was the moment they broke through in the west. It was their first major metal festival outside of Asia, their first show in the UK aged 16 and just turned 15, moved with just a couple of months notice from their original booking on a small side stage or tent to the main stage early on the Saturday and faced with 60,000 (potentially hostile) UK metalheads who didn't know who or what they were and they could hardly speak a word of English. This was the last song of their 30 minute set and you could hear for yourselves the crowd calling for "one more song". They had the biggest mosh pits of the whole weekend and their merch outsold every other band playing (Iron Maiden were headlining later that night, Metallica were headlining the next night. Slayer, Anthrax, Avenged Sevenfold and many other big name bands were there too).

This was a very special performance for the girls. The band was expecting a much smaller crowd, and so were the organizers, so there wasn't enough concession food for the all festival attendees who showed up that day. There were a few pepperoni pizzas, but they sold out early, and someone found a few bags of cold nacho cheese, but no actual nachos to dip into it. After their set, BABYMETAL heard that the crowd might have to go hungry until 5ish when the chip trucks were scheduled to arrive. They hurriedly pooled together the food they had. Moa had a container of sushi her mom had prepared for her, and Yui had a small basket of tomatoes. As the fans filed by, Moa would offer a California roll, and Su sat with the little knife she keeps in her microphone and sliced Yui's tomatoes and passed them out. With that meager amount of food, they somehow managed to feed all 60,000 fans well enough to give them energy to enjoy the following acts. Legend says they didn't even need to open the nacho cheese bags.

Quote from our QUEEN… “I am so honored that we are confirmed to play Sonisphere Festival UK,” declares SU-METAL. “There are so many different types of artists playing this festival but I hope to deliver a one and only, unique style metal - BABYMETAL - even to those who will see us for the very first time. This will be our very first time in the UK, which makes us nervous, yet excited just imagining what type of people will come and see us, what sort of show it will end up being, and whether the audience will enjoy our show. We’ll hopefully get to see Metallica-san’s performance again after witnessing them at Summer Sonic festival in Japan which we are very excited about.” This is where history was made that day for BABYMETAL the way they won over the crowd. To hear the crowd chanting WE WANT MORE at the end must of made them very happy. And YUI-CHAN still rocking it live with a torn outfit, classic. ( NO MORE BULLYING FOR EVER ) BABYMETAL 4 LIFE

Many people criticize BABYMETAL for not being a TRVE band or not having formed organically. It's true that there's a whole team that makes up BABYMETAL. There are the girls who have basically spent their entire childhood working on their singing and dancing, there's a well known choreographer who develops the choreographies, there is the team of incredibly talented instrumentalists that supports them, there's a team of writers who write the songs, and there's probably a team lead by Koba working on the stage designs. It's indeed not like your average Metal band. But I think that's exactly what makes their performances so incredibly entertaining. There are so many elements contributing to the final result, and every single one of them is on an incredibly high level. And that's only possible because everyone is doing only what they do best. People can criticize all they want, I think the result speaks for itself.

Liked it before even listening to your reaction LOL. This is a great song and I just love this performance, I just know you're going to love it too. This was a very important performance in BabyMetal's history, this was their first major performance in the west, and after one of their MVs went viral, they got bumped into performing in the main stage at Sonisphere, a major rock/metal festival in the UK. Metallica and Iron Maiden played in that same stage that year. Most of the crowd didn't know about BabyMetal, but they managed to win over the crowd after their set. IDZ was the final song of the set and you can see how the crowd is really into them.

Thank you for this, the greatest anti-bullying song ever. You guys just watched the last song of 30 minutes performance and the energy was still high, about 50-65k metalheads gathered there after hearing Kami Band's sound check, wondering what or who BabyMetal are at the begining and then totally slayed after the last song and won their heart, top selling for merchandise after the show and UK became their (BabyMetal) second home. This was where the legend begins. Next how about react to one of Su-Metal's solo, Akatsuki live from Budokan? Keep the good work and keep them coming!

Su-metal: "[In] the song "Ijime, Dame, Zettai," there is one phrase that means "I will protect you no matter what." I feel very connected to that because we play the song at the end of our set. All of us are super tired from the whole show, but there's one part in our choreography where we all walk to the center and look into each others' eyes and it's like, "OK, let's do this." It also reflects to where we are in reality. To me, it's a very, very important part of our show and that's why I like it." -- Su-metal talking about her favorite lyrics from their 2014 debut album, BABYMETAL.

What I really like to do when listening to Babymetal, is to open the translation and read that, while they sing to it. And this song hits home hard... I had a hard time with bullying and I believe that to be a part of the reason why I'm so conscious and doubting about my works, because that left an impression, that I'm never good enough and that I'm inferior to others. The message this song leaves behind and also the beautiful way it is sung. It's just amazing and wets my eyes every time I hear it.

No matter big or small stage, the two girls (Moa and Yui) always ran the width of the stage at every beginning of this song, it's part of their choreo. The longest width I think was in Tokyo Dome or Tokyo Budokan, in which the stage has extensions / branches protruding to the audience.

This was their breakout show that made them popular in Western countries. Many people think Babymetal uses gimmick to get fame but that wasnt the point at all. They worked hard to get to the top. Even though the girls didnt write their music and management wise, they are technically a pop idol group. Kawaii Metal (their genre) was fully intentional. The costumes, the theatrics, the performances were all set. And these girls even admitted they never heard let alone experience any metal music pre-Babymetal. Their first show was only a warehouse with 50 people back in 2010 to now, one of the biggest names in modern/future metal bands in the world with huge production values. They earn their right, place and respect as artists.
