Hi Travis and suzi, time for some 80s classics from my favourite Australian bands. Here is cold chisel performing one of our favourite anthems flame trees, a song about returning home to a town you were from . Jimmy barnes you will know was the lead singer of cold chisel , a pub band that rocks the 70s, 80s and 90s in Australia. This song was shown in a documentary the last stand and shows a snippet of Jimmy with his young daughter mahalia. Mathalia fre up to be a talented singer and Often performs with barnsey to this day. I was at this concert. 40 years later and i still consider this to be the best concert I've ever been to. My favourite songs of Jimmy's are Daylight and Driving Wheels. Chisel songs are All Hell Broke Lucy and Bow River

I will never forget missing out on tickets to the their "last stand tour", they played 4 gigs at the Melbourne Entertainment centre in November 1983 and a mate at trade school asked me if I wanted to go as he was getting tickets, I said yeah but when he went to get them they had sold out and we all missed out on going.They sold out really quick. I saw Chisel years later when they reformed but always regretted not seeing them earlier on, I was about 18 at the time and had just started to going to see bands at live gigs in 1983. Never forget it.

The music of this song was written by the drummer. The piano player, who has been described as Australia's greatest ever songwriter (music & lyrics), asked the drummer to let him write the words. Reluctantly he did (he wanted to do it himself), but we got this classic. The group is remarkable with all five members, as songwriters, contributing to their battery of radio-familiar tunes.

Mahalia Barnes was brilliant in Riding with the Kings with Joe Bonamassa,the final last stand concert was at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on December 15 1983 it would be 15 years 1998 before Cold Chisel Reformed

an outdoor concert potentially above 35 C.. and under spotlights.. yep its hot and the sweat pours and yep they would need to all be drinking a LOT of water. google Karratha Western Australia on the map. I've seen him play there twice, and whether its a small concert or a big one they give it their all. its better at a small one because you can get up close and personal and it in some ways feels like a jam, and people take along their own chairs because it usually plays (or used to) on the local oval. some people just sit on a picnic blanket and everyone still has a great show and after the show most people can say a 'gday jimmy' .

This is Jimmy at his best, in later years he just seemed to scream noise. Don Walker is an amazing song writer and so were the other members of the band. They had the ability to harness Jimmy’s voice and get the story across. Personally this is my favourite Cold Chisel song
