This is another Tuomas Holopainen masterpiece. He only keeps on getting better as his talent and vision matures. Absolutely stunning. This composition is as deep as the Marianas Trench and has more layers than a baklava. It is exquisite. I'm 73 and I am the last man standing in my family. I am the last of the Dorrity line. So this performance runs deep, cuts deep. I understand the feeling of loss, yet I still live with hope and intent. No small thing to live with intent. Nevertheless, Floor's voice and this composition is akin to an emotional depth charge to the heart. There is a tenderness and vulnerability there that I have not heard before, and it just breaks you. And her face, good Lord, her beautiful face so expressive and adorned with nothing save her heart and soul just melts me to my core. And her gestures, so tender and expressive tells a story onntheir own. I am not ashamed to say that this staggeringly beautiful composition and the meaning behind it makes me want to cry on Floor’s shoulder. I’m sure she would understand. The poetry of this song is also heart-rendingly exquisite. It is a poem, a prayer, an elegy. Listen to it. Just listen to it. Tuomas’ poetry can easily stand alone. Some of you get it. Some of you don't. I do, and that's all that matters. Kiitos to all of you in Nightwish for delivering such epic and emotional story telling.

Tuomas wrote this just after his father died, he said this: Holopainen: "The last song on the album, Lanternlight, might fool you into thinking it's a sad song, but it's actually a love song and ends up on a very positive vibe. If you have somebody who has lived a very happy and a really long life, it's a moment of celebration and not of grief. This is the message we want to send."

Nice. I've had hard past 3 yrs. First my mother passed away due to heart failure during sleep in 2021, then almost to the day ,2 years after my mom, my Dad passed away. He had an aneurysm in his brain and passed away fast thankfully. Then last January 4th my Grandmother died at age 94. This was last grandparent I had left alive. She was from my mother's side. After Father's funeral I had hard time coping but lived day by day and after year and half I finally start to feel normal. Of course I miss them so much still.

So beautiful. 🤍 Watching musicians appreciate good music is always great. You both instantly recognised the quality of the song, instruments & vocals and recognised this was something special. Suzi you are the HSP that feels the emotions in your soul. "Lanternlight" Gone is the hurt, the wait Gone is the warmth of day A stray boat saved Happy memories engraved On into a velvety night Beneath a lantern light Last night brought the heaviest of snows Melting the songs of old Tying the boat, write a new one soon Sending me to the drowning moon Far above a lantern light I'm in the light and flood I'm in the four winds I'm the waves, shaping pebbles, flawless gems I am the snow on your palm I am the secret stream Moss beneath your feet I am you who climbed off my back Not long ago A sheltered song In a world now gone Petrichor The timeless Turn loose, the swaying boat Meltwater, sound of spring I hear our song now, sung by the free For a thousand more tomorrows Of an incomplete weave To the meadows, I go I'll be waiting for you Once upon a lantern light I walk now toward the trees I am the secret stream The night falling at my feet Into the forest of Yesterwynde Google a CTV News article & watch the video that defines “Petrichor” - that one word links every song, concept, video imagery & Easter Eggs throughout this Yesterwynde album. This single is the last one on the album & also the Triology of albums with these themes.

Lanternlight is breathtakingly gorgeous ❣️ Not able to listen to this with dry eyes, it goes straight to your soul. It’s so fragile and strong at the same time. What a gorgeous piece of music composed by Tuomas and so emotionally sung by Floor. Tuomas said that Lanternlight is a song of love to celebrate live of the people that passed. In this case mainly his dad. My favorite song from the new album followed by An Ocean of Strange Islands.

The emotional maturity in this is incredible. It describes loss, but also moving on and appreciating a life well lived, and looking back at the memories with warmth and peace. Those that leave us are never truly gone. This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard, not just from Nightwish.

Thanks for sharing your reaction to a song that Tuomas wrote to celebrate the life of his father that passed away in 2021. For me it empowers us to recognize our connection to nature and one another, ultimately signifying that even in times of uncertainty, despair & sorrow, there is beauty and hope to be found under the glow of the lanternlight. This song is so emotional, that they needed several takes to record Floor's vocals as she started crying over and over again. P.S. Their new album "Yesterwynde" is a sonic masterpiece.

Tuomas wrote this for his Father following his passing in 2021 - it's a tribute to and celebration of a life well lived, for those that lit the way ahead for us. I personally think it may be the most beautiful song I've ever heard, simply perfection.

Tuomas wrote this one as a tribute and love song to his father as he passed away in 2021. Tuomas also said that this song: quote "Even though this song sounds sad, this song is a love song, a celebration of life and relationships. This is how we hope to get this across to people." The guy singing is Troy Donockley Both of your expressions through out the whole reaction was amazing, ty for that.

Haven’t seen you guys reacting to Nightwish for a while. Suzy is still as nuts as ever!😆 This song deserves to have a wider coverage because it’s just amazing. Floor wrings every bit of emotion out of the song. Written after the death of his father, Tuomas said it’s more about celebrating his life than grieving his passing.

I simply can't hear this song too many times. Every note is perfect. Floor's singing is sublime and she's beautifully backed up by Troy. The orchestra are fantastic and they are playing a perfect arrangement, while the production team have surpassed themselves. For me this song is like a link between Nightwish and Auri, from whom we are expecting a third album and a tour next year. If this isn't song of the year then there is no justice.

Welcome back. We've missed you guys reactions. Nightwish new album, Yesterwynde, was released in September. Over the summer, Nightwish released maybe 4 videos from the album before the album release. All of them are off the charts. Tuomas headed in a new direction with this album. Listen to the album when you can. Absolutely beautiful. I lost my wife a year ago. Listening to Lanternlight brings so many emotions and tears but it also brings the reality that our memories allow me to go on and I'll be ok. She loved Nightwish and I know she would have loved this song. We're all lucky to have this band in our lives.
