Thankful to have been lucky enough to be at one of the two shows where they filmed this song and DVD, the last show of the Reunion Tour at MSG. Fantastic!

Roy Bittan, known as The Professor, is such an integral part of the sound of E Street Band. He is a superb piano player.

The one band member who he kept when he disbanded the E Street Band for a number of years in the late 80's

This is off the album of the same name. After they hit big in the mid 70’s with the Born to Run album, he got into a legal battle with his then manager that lasted a few years. Back then, being gone for a few years was almost career death. He couldn’t record, so all he did was write and rehearse (and play smaller gigs to pay the bills). This album was darker in tone than anything he did prior and basically became the backbone of his live shows from that time on.

The song is called “Darkness on the Edge of Town” and you think the song is “frolicky”? You might just want to read the lyrics to the songs you react to so you can get more out of it.
