I'm so glad you guys got to hear this! Awesome reaction just as I was expecting! So much more out there for you - including dozens and dozens of organ solos! To match the power of Ritchie on the guitar he fed his Hammond organ into a Marshall guitar amplifier - and the rest is history! Just so annoying that there's not a lot of decent footage from way back then, but thought the guy did well with the effort on this one! I used to test out the stereo settings on Dad's gramophone by playing the end of this track!

DP has a great new album out. I was impressed and am going to see them Sept 7th. New Guitarist and Don Airey on keys and Ian is sounding great for being 78. A version of Yes with Steve Howe are warm up. Should be fun! Keith Emerson was the master of the keys if you want to see solos. This V2 of Deep Purple was killer!

This is certainly one of Lord's best solos. Some may hear it as an atonal mess, but I think it's beautiful and exciting. He plays here in the style of an electric guitar, not to compete with, but to complement Ritchie. He was always looking to get different sounds out of that Hammond. A master.

RITCHIE BLACKMORE...a God of Guitar! Yet he hardly gets the mentions that others such as Page, Hendrix, Beck, Clapton and Van Halen do, but make no mistake about it....he was greater than them all! A major influence on Yngwie Malmsteen, Randy Rhoads, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and even if EVH was loathe to admit it, yes him too. And, Blackmore was the Godfather of Shred guitar and Neo-Classical rock. And, JON LORD - The Maestro on the Keys, running his Hammond organ thru a Marshall Stack and unleashing the Beast! IAN GILLAN, the Original Jesus Christ Superstar, who in his prime was absolutely untouchable in vocal range and power. IAN PAICE on drums...waaaaaaay underrated and far superior to most other rock drummers of his time...and still playing in Purple to this day. And ROGER GLOVER, rock steady on bass and holding it all down on a firm foundation so that the others can fly into the cosmos. DEEP PURPLE......a group of virtuosos......best band ever!!!

There is another organist like that, Ken Hensley from Uriah Heep . This song is the first speed metal song for me. The heaviest Deep Purple album up to date.The modern power and speed metal is based mostly on Deep Purple. Ian Paice is the reason Lars UIlrich started plying drugs, Ian Gillan is the idol of Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden.

yes, and if you haven't heard you should check out Keith Emerson who played keyboards (and alot of Hammond) in ELP (Emerson Lake & Palmer), as a solo artist and in The Nice. Did some really great stuff :)

Travis Jon Lord's organ's solo playing is like Eddie van Halen's epic solos! Today's Lord's replacement after his death is Don Airey. Airey's playing comfortable to Lord's playing. Ian Gillan, today even though he can't hit high notes like he was young still singing with new material by Deep Purple.

Don Airey didn't replace Jon Lord "after his death". He replaced him in 2002 after Jon quit the band to concentrate on solo projects. Jon died from pancreatic cancer in 2012. He was 71. R I P Jon Lord.

Never heard of a keyboard solo? Clearly you’ve been living under a rock your whole life. Deep Purple have been the kings of the organ solo since 1968, check out their first hit song “Hush” for example. Here we are 56 years later and they have just released their 23rd studio album, “= 1” (equals one). Purple is still on the road and currently touring Europe (the only time they stopped touring in recent years was when everyone was forced to during Covid). *Ian Paice, drums - age 76, since 1968 *Ian Gillan, vocals - age 78, since 1969 *Roger Glover, bass - age 78, since 1969 *Don Airey, Hammond organ - age 76, since 2002 - (Don replaced the late Jon Lord when he retired in 2002) *Simon McBride, guitar - age 45, since 2022 - (Simon replaced Steve Morse when he left the band to look after his wife who had terminal cancer, she recently passed away. Morse was in the band for 28 years, from 1994-2022, much longer than Blackmore who quit mid tour in 1993) Still making and playing good solid rock n roll. Cheers,

I know from your Bathurst reactions that you like it. Now try the two English tourists walking the actual racetrack and you will see how really steep and windy the track is.
