A-10A is premium. A full day's wage will buy it for you. as for the A-10C, it's not that deep into the tech tree, US air is completely overpowered all the way through 7.7, and the grind is extremely fast. Just do AB until you get past 7.7, and then switch the RB once you have a decently fast vehicle. You'll have the A-10 pretty quick. Harrier is also a good shortcut, too. It's not the meta anymore, but the AV-8A is still very very good bc it will always get to the Frontline before everything else and it has more countermeasures than it actually needs. Just zoom in, bomb a base, kill the next two enemies with missiles, and then pound ground until you run out of ammo. You probably will die, but repair cost is dirt cheap. Rinse and repeat. You'll have an A-10 inside of three months if you can handle that every day. Mind numbing, but also very fast progression.

I think the A-10 is a beast used correctly. The A-10 is such an iconic plane known in the WT community and in general IRL. When new players see the A-10 they buy it not knowing how to play CAS or WT in general, giving the A-10 a reputation of being useless and not “not good”. It’s pretty much down to user experience to determine if the A-10 is “good or bad”.

The reason the A-10 is a legend is not because it can defeat every target, it’s because it kills and maneuvers beautifully in it’s intended scenario. The people that call it useless don’t know how to use it. In conclusion, it is the best at its intended purpose, buy it knowing what it’s used for and you won’t be disappointed.

the A-10 has always been my favorite aircraft. So when it was finally announced, I immediately pre-ordered the A-10(E) and got the A-10(L) on launch using GE. I have flown a lot of hours in the A-10C (Both I & II) in DCS. the Weaponry on the C may be more advanced but the Tactics are still there and I use a very similar loadout on the A-10C that is close to what I use one the A-10(L). using AGM-65D Mavs, unguided Rockets/Bombs and AIM-9Ls. I learned early on in DCS that the Mavericks are the A-10's best friend to take care of Anti Air Defenses early on to make attacking the remain Ground Units easier. in War Thunder Ground RB, I have hardly ever used the Gun because I know to keep my distance from any potential Radar SPAA and rely on the Mavericks. I try to get my lock and fire before I get within 4km from the enemy line. Because any closer and I'm more likely to be food to SPAA. If I do use the Gun, I make sure to use Stealth Rounds since that is the A-10's main belt of use in real life so that way the enemy can't see where the shots are coming from. My best match so far has gotten me 3 ground and one air kill on the Berlin Map. 1 was a MBT and two were SPAAs. 1st SPAA kill was on the first Mav pass and then the 2nd SPAA and MBT on the 2nd pass with mavs and then a AIM-9L on an SU-7 as I was clearing from my 2nd pass. It is an amazing CAS aircraft, as long as it's flown right. in GRB, distance and Mavs are key to survive longer in my personal opinion. As much as I would love to BRRRRRT everything on the ground, the SPAA make it a little too dangerous to make that kind of risk.

@@CharliMorganMusic That is 50% the pilots lack of skill and 50% the aircrafts fault. The thing is that the A10 is a flying brick and is far outclassed by enemy jets and spaa. The only reason that it can get so many kills is because they arent paying attention for it.

With a good team behind you in air RB, you can almost force a win by bleeding enemy tickets through AI ground kills.

I really feel like AI ground kills are an underrated idea for this plane. Sure, bases are good, but with nothing but the gun you can regularly get Thunderer awards if the enemy is distracted or mostly gone already. This is a great source of SL/RP.

The A-10s are absolutely the best counter to Mig-23s. Mig pilots love to dive to the deck to avoid getting smacked by Sparrows. So having something incredibly maneuverable and carrying all aspect missiles with an obscene amount of flares/chaffe.

I just sit above the A-10s and dive on them over and over. Even with AIM-9Ls by the time they can get a lock on I’m already 3km+ away and able to outrun it. The A-10 is one of the easiest planes to counter if you’re smart enough to keep your speed and know what a favorable engagement looks like for your plane.

Just watch out I have found that some people try to out turn the A-10 then I can easily drop the landing flaps and out turn them if they try for too long. A lot of the time they destroy their speed so it’s a easy kill

I bought it and its fun when/if you make it to the Battlefield. More often than not there is just to much AA to be useful right now. And when fighting it, I've shot down 6 of these in a single game. It's speed really holds it back.

Well, right now everyone is doing one of two things: playing the A10, and playing SPAAs to farm kills on people playing the A10. Give it a few weeks and things should calm down a little.

War Thunder is planning to add HARM missiles. They lock onto the radar signal and follow that signal right into the dish. That will do wonders for keeping SPAA at bay

The Mavericks are great for long range head-ons. Some douche in his MiG-23 flying straight at you at Mach 1.3 from 5km away, lock him with your maverick and fire. He will run right into it, it's great lmao

Ive been farming these things in my mirage 3e to get the f1c and the f104s to get the ASA. Such easy kills if you get some altitude and top-down missiles at them lol. Especially the 104 since its so fast I can get above them before they even get close to the actual battle and some are likely still only half paying attention.

Yeah it's practically defenseless from targets above, it has about 5 seconds of attacking an enemy above before it runs out of speed.

I think the main reason you are getting so many kills atm is because there are countless new players that have never used planes before, because this just released and the plane has been overhyped for years at this point. Wait a few months and this will change. I have seen enough battles already where A10 players almost hit the ground because they are so reckless and there are so many of them in every match. So I don't think this is something that translates very well to the longterm of engagments with A10's. Skilled players stay back and don't fly into the cannons of their enemies and use smart weaponry such as the mavericks.

Practice in test flight thats what I had to do. The mavericks should be your go to for guided ordinance. Set a key bind for fire air to ground missiles. Also set key binds for the ballistic computer for both cannon and rockets. This will let you see exactly where your gau will impact and will also allow you to lock enemies with mavericks without going into that sight. If youre going to use that sight, set key bind for lock air to ground missles/rockets whatever. When in the sight center the vehicle in the middle and lock, the camera will lock and youll be good to fire. The thing with the mavericks is youll need decent altitude and the nose of the aircraft needs to be pointed somewhat in the direction of the tank youre firing at. If youre flying too fast over the target the missile wont be on target and will miss… if you dont have enough altitude the missile will probably land short. In short have some decent altitude and be in a position over the targer that will give your missile the easiest path to hit what your firing at. Too low or too bad of an angle and your slow missile will struggle to hit… otherwise they should land directly onto that sucker. Hope this helps.

I like how a lot of people were complaining about 9.7 being too low because it has guided missiles that have higher range than AA especially low tiers and yet I've seen more non SAM SPAAs taking them down. So far I've seen a Tam 2, m1a1hc, 2s5 with cannons, m247, and an m163. These are just the ones I've seen in 5 games

@@HIFLY01 nah, the SAMS have 10km range the mavericks in game only have 6km which is WAYYY less than they actually have By my calculations a Maverick should have a Real range of about 12km total if dropped from high enough up. This range sounds insane but considering the travel time on that house have to be in LOS for a long time for it to hit you and you’d be stupid to be in the open that long without breaking LOS with the missile. Which allows aircraft to stand off with SPAA at even ranges and smart SPAA won’t just sit there able to kill whatever they fight with range advantage

The A-10A did not receive LASTE until 1991-92, roughly ten years after entering active squadron service in Europe, just after the first Iraq war (ODS). No weapons aiming computer until then. No LCOSS gun-snake. No CCIP/CCRP bombing. The A-10A did not receive NVIS until around 1995-96, about half way through the Operation Deny Flight campaign in FRY. The aircraft could (and we did) operate with NVGs before this. But we had to tape over most of the (red lit) instruments and install velcro chemlight holders with tinted windows in the cockpit while flying with the external slime lights turned off so as not to dazzle the period ANVIS-9 goggles. Typically ended up changing the chemlights around halfway through a 4-5hr mission. The AIM-9L is just next to worthless on the A-10 so there is no point in not putting both missiles on the DRA. Without a radar to cue the missile seeker, it just sits and spins the reticle in self-acquire mode which is completely worthless for most of the targets (sub-horizon, cooled exhaust, helicopters or very fast CAS) as you are at or inside RMin before you are sure you are not aiming at a hotspot on the ground and crossing threats zip in and out of the ~27.5` acquisition cone way too fast to be tracked. One thing which is absent and shouldn't be is the ALQ-119 or ALQ-131 shallow pods. Both of which were essential for defeating radar directed SPAAG and RFCG SAMs like SA-8 and Roland (in Iraq). So much for realism...

I’ve noticed you rate Vehicles on their effectiveness, which while important and you should definitely keep doing. If you could add another rating called “Fun Rating” where you rate it on how fun the vehicle is that’d be greatly appreciated. [ Ik from experience the A-10 is a crap plane in Air RB most of the time, but it’s the most fun plane to take out (other than the AV-8) in my opinion. ]

@@stoops417 Yeah but those ones we see in random battles arent the same compared to the original EC's, the originals lasted for 4 ish hours or 2 but because of dynamic objectives you could do whatever you want and sometimes PvP was optional if people just forget you exist at times. Would make my life easier getting vehicles for sure, hell the mode could even work with all vehicles if they do it right.

If you use the weapons selector feature, one press on the space bar activates the missile seeker, once you have a lock and press it again it launches the missile. (Works for the same for Air-to-Air missiles, but the GBUs still need the Targeting-Pot/Gunner View)

I just have guided and unguided bombs key bound to space bar if I’m in 3rd person a very small yellow box will show up on screen and if you have an enemy on that box for the few seconds it’s scanning it will lock on and I just tap space bar a second time to fire. I really only use the scope if I’m far away and have the time or stand off distance from AA to get tunnel visioned in that scope

Because some people have more money than time. I get MAYBE 6 to 8 hours a week to play games, and of those I play MAYBE 1-2 hours of WT, I do enjoy the game but I can't spend Hours and Hours of playing anymore. I have a family, a house, and a car to pay for. I DO however have a decent amount of disposable income at the end of the week. So 60$ USD is EASY for me to drop so I can enjoy the planes I like for my 1hr instead of spending months or years to get to em by grinding.

Ballistic computer. Key bind is in weaponry. Theres also one for the gau cannon. When you switch it on… press whatever your bind for “lock air to ground” is… that little green square will appear about a half inch below your target reticle. The green square only appears for a second so you have to get used to placing it on the vehicle before it disappears… once it does youll have to press the button again.. takes some getting used to. When it picks up a lock a red square with an x will appear on your target and youre good to fire your missile. To do so just press whatever your keybind for fire guided missile is.

Yes it’s a good plane but it is not a very survivable plane like stated if your elevator is damaged at all your dead if your engine gets damaged at all whith your airframe to fall from sky you can’t survive and damage from bullets

What are you using to lock the air to ground externally? I'm on console and find it hard to use the TV screen, any help would be greatly appreciated

I gotchu, the tv sights/thermal pod (jag) can’t lock on console. To lock in third person you bind activate target point and a deactivate target point to reset target lock (I also have mapped toggle laser designator to the same as the activate). Does not work with manual guided nords. Only laser and tv. Hope this helps o7

This plane is fun yes it has some down falls like no air spawn and being slow but it sure is fun as hell plus for some Odd reason I can get kills with the cannon without zooming in

Personally, I don’t think it needs an air spawn, though depends whether in air or ground battles, I mainly play ground, but for air it should have an air spawn. The A-10 though in ground has time to move around the battlefield and flank in unexpected directions

@@eliassaab1850 update, apparently you can just hold the fire button. This will make the green square stay more consistent and itll automatically lock when placed on a target. Good hunting
