Good stuff Cliff. I watched your brake pad replacement video as well. One suggestion, I noticed in both video's that when installing the wheel, you place the lug bolt in the gun and run the lug into the hub. To prevent cross threading a lug bolt (or lug nut), a good habit is to always start the lugs by hand and then use the gun to run the bolt/nut into the hub.

Good video, I normally do it by pressurizing the reservoir, as it’s pretty fast. But your method also works. Thanks By the way, the battery plastic cover is not sitting properly on the passenger side, you just need to push it onto the groove so it sits flush with the side trim, keeping it that way will deform the plastic.

Nice video! It would be interesting to include the ABS bleeding procedure as well. Side note, I never use an impact driver on my wheels to remove or install and they should be hand torqued to spec. Cheers!

Interesting technique. I used a Motive Pressure bleeder. I bled each caliper outer and then inner bleeder valve. But I went around twice, so I think I got fresh fluid to each caliper. I also bled the clutch at the transmission. Hopefully I did a good enough job, as I had completely boiled the old fluid that was who knows how many years old while bombing some mountain roads.

Great video as always thank you Cliff. Working on my UK Cayman the brake reservoir is on the opposite side...

Well, given that you Brits drive on the wrong side of the road sitting in the wrong side of the car, it's not surprising :)

Thank you, very easy to follow video. I really need to do this with my '07CS.

Glad it helped! It's really quite simple, although I think I'm going to give a pressure system a try next time.

@@CliffsGarage Since I'm not the most experienced in doing this, why would a pressure system be more advantageous then a vacuum system? Just curious and thank you again. Good luck on your HPDE, I'm anxiously awaiting video(s).
@CliffsGarage3 жыл бұрын
I'm not really sure which would be "better" since I've only used a vacuum system. My hesitation with a pressure system is how often you have to go back and forth to "pump up" the reservoir. On the other hand, the vacuum system is noisy and slow. I look everywhere and couldn't find a system that used a compressor to pressurize the reservoir unless it was a full system aimed at a commercial garage, costing hundreds of dollars and up. That being said, I think I'm going to buy a pressure system and give it a try and maybe look into modifying it to use a compressor.

Great video. You finished draining all the brakes - got it. When you put the fluid in the front container, the one you clamped down, does this automatically fill the brakes you have drained? And fill the container to the proper level?

note: DOT4 is non corrosive. I wouldn't take the chance of it falling on paint either but apparently it's completely harmless.

Do you have to worry about the abs , psm system when you do this?

Good job. Thanks for another video. Any idea on when are you going to do one on replacing a faulty crankshaft position sensor? Thanks

Well, tbh, hopefully never because that means I have one :)

best to fill the revivor first from the container,

Using this method, how much of the old brake fluid remains in the ABS module?
@CliffsGarage2 жыл бұрын
Ya know, that's a good question. I never even thought of that.

For a proper ("complete") flush, the ABS unit needs to be cycled, which requires the Porsche computer (no idea if 3rd party tools support such functionality).

Let me add one more thing here, the brake fluid in the line all the way to the clutch slave cylinder will also NOT get flushed, unless you open the slave nipple and bleed enough to get fresh brake fluid all the way to the slave cylinder.
