When using the Allen keys I found it easier to use the holes in the black piece above it and it lines up perfectly for you to screw in

On the clear plastic dome I would use a very thin brush with black paint and touch up the lines on the inside so that when you look down you see the fine lines on the top of the dome

I can't be sure which was the better model, this metal one or the wooden one that burned so well. Such a shame they will never be compared. I could almost hear The Last Call being played when I saw the ship burn away. Titanic was big for its day but modern cruise liners are twice as big.

I'd be wary about connecting the cables in the funnel right now. I'm sure you're going to be right, but they're very specific about it. What may have happened, because the same thing happened to me, is when you were gluing on the details, some of the glue attached to the tank inside. A little extra pressure would get those apart.

I have an earlier version of the tool kit which has (obviously) the screwdriver handle, which is narrower than the one you have in this gift pack, an extension piece as well as a flexible one to help get into tight corners. Unfortunately the magnet doesn't hold the various bits in the flexy one so you have to be careful that they don't fall out and into the depths of the kit you are working on!

I had the problem with getting the inside of the funnel out because we glued all the details in. I had to give a lot of force with my screwdriver to get it out. It will need to come out to make the funnels smoke, I think. In the future I will leave that smoke generator out of the funnel when attaching those details. The model is amazing, though!

I also have a fun fact about the Titanic, she had 5 anchors, a port anchor,starboard anchor, auxiliary anchor at the front end, a stream anchor on the forecastle behind the starboard water break, and a kedge anchor on the poop deck

This is going to look a nice build. Bit disturbing, they want you to fit pieces later then when really needed. But at least if someone is watching you first before building, they can fix it first.

Those gaps in the hull joins are very bad ,unlike Bismarck which were hidden .

If you make sure the screws are as tight as you can get them it’s not very noticeable at all 😊

You can put the allen key through the righthand side of the hull section for the MM screws. You,ll only be able to get away with that method acouple of times

Don't you hate it when after you assemble a part, they ask that you disassemble it to add a part! Almost looks like they snuck in a mistake in the instructions.

Wayne, I had the same problem. Not being able to get the smoke assembly out after I glued in all the vent tube. You probably did the same thing I did. Look down the funnel. You will probably find one of the pins sticking through far enough to stop the smoker from sliding out. Looking great 👍

It would have been safer/better to have put the LEDs in first, and then the water pipes, as they could have gotton broken if you accidently rested them on the worktop!

i just made it to stage 20. and i gotta say. its actually becoming overwhelming with all the parts right now even with a storage box that i put them in.. i took the model out of the box because its gaining size now.

Not sure that I like the screws on the funnels! I woould be tempted to paint over them, but I suppose it might be hard to match the colour!

I was thinking the same thing. I think if you took a little bit of orange and a dab of black you might come close to the color; and even if you're way off, their so tiny you might not really notice. Another thought might be brown panel liner.

The exact colour is 3 parts yellow ochre, 1 part signal yellow and 1 part sunburst orange to get a good match. I have already been experimenting with the colour matching so you don't have to 😁

WAYNE...Don't use masking tape.... if left on too long it'll leave adhesive.... better off using Tamiya Masking Tape ( Yellow ) or Similar!!!!

I guess. Remember a lot of parts are guesses anyway. No one really knows the colours used. They only go on what the sisters ships had and colorising old photos

I have a couple of Titanic facts. Titanic was the 2nd of 3 ships built using the same design. The first one (which unless I am confusing it with another ship was called Olympic) collided with another ship on its maiden voyage. The third one was called Britannic and was launched without being christened as a hospital ship and was torpedoed near Greece. The Olympic, the Titanic and the Britannic has 1 person in common. I forget her name but there was a woman who survived all 3 disasters.

The HMHS Britannic was not torpedoed. It hid a mine placed by a U-Boat in the Mediterranean Sea near the island of Kea. It was put into service as a hospital ship without being fully completed during the first world war and served for about a year. Hospital ships of any nationality were not allowed to be attacked as they took in wounded soldiers from anywhere.
