I love that riff, it hits you right from the start! These guys were big in Finland during that time, but sadly didn't get much attention outside Europe. They did a gig even in North Korea if I recall correctly.

As you have made reactions to Nightwish, Amorphis and now Peer Günt (haven’t noticed that you have reacted to Children of Bodom yet, which you should most definately do), Do you know what they have in common? They all have long history with legendary Finnvox studios in Helsinki. In Europe only Abbey road studios is older studio among those studios that are still run in their original place. Finnvox was put up in 1965. Next year 60:th birthday. So long history. But also still going strong. Nightwish albums are being mixed and mastered there. All others mentioned have varying amounts done there. And many not mentioned here. Funny detail: Lemmy Kilmister once produced there one album for Albert Järvinen. A legendary finnish rock guitarist that has unfortunately passed away many years ago. These great eighties Peer Günt albums were recorded and produced by another legend: TT. Oksala. Unfortunately died way to early. But we have his double neck Ibanez SG hanging on the wall in our lounge. Yes, I said we. But (there is always a but) do not get too excited. I do NOT work there in the music side. We have also movie/tv sound studios there (Finnvox Cinepost) and this is where I make most of my living in a way or another. But it is cool to work in a place where after heating my microwave ready lunch I sit down to eat it and in comes Tuomas Holopainen, says ”moi” (hi), puts his microwave lunch to microwave warm it up and then sits down to eat it next to you 😂 Rock ’n Roll glamour!!! But back to the studios, as I said, we ae still going strong. A lot of great finish band do all or parts of their magic there. Like Kotiteollisuus, Blind Channel, Lost Society, J.Karjalainen etc…

Oooohhh that riff, in a car with reasonable good stereo system back then. What a pu#¤y tickler. When drums and bass hit, it was ready. I still listen it, loud as hell. And whole album is great. Seen them couple of years back, still rocking. We had band called Havana Black. Their album "Indian warrior" is really good, and mixed in American way. They made USA version of it. It is first Finnish band, who made it to Billboard radio list. "Lone wolf" reached number 4 on Mainstream Rock Tracks 1989. But good to see, you like Peer Günt Backseat. "Bad boys are here"🤘

While ago listened one awesome swedish band (SATOR) And as awesome that band is i had to wash that sugar coat off by listening PEER GÜNT. That song brings me a lot of great memories. In good and the bad. P.G. really made my youth rockin 😎

Peer Gunt founded 1976 made 10 studio albums so far. Lastest studio album released 2009 and at highest it was #17 in Finnish album chart. They still do some shows mostly in summer time in Finland.

The band name is a pun on a poen and play by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen (possiblt\y the Father of Modern Theatre) called Peer Gynt - the "umlaut" over the u makes the Finnish Günt sound prety close. In very short, over-broad strokes, Peer was a fantasist rebel, traveller and adventurer. Read the poem or see the play, it has been translated to English and other languaged [even Chinese[; it's worth it.

That is one of the good Finnish music videos made in the 80s. Often they weren't that good. The girl did a fine job too. Lemmy visited Finland quite often, and had this to say about Peer Günt. (Rockstop was a Finnish music TV show): "Lemmy Kilmister interview, Reading Festival 1988". With Hanoi Rocks' success ("Hanoi Rocks- Dont' You Ever Leave Me (Music Video)") there were attempt to push also other Finnish bands to the US market. Some of them left a mark, but none really made it. Maybe it was down to the radio DJs over there..? With the internet, maybe you can do right by them now, because some of them would have deserved a break. Here's couple of them bands: "Zero Nine - Angel", "Smack - Somewhere Out Of The Day - Live 1987", "Melrose - Rich Little", "Hearthill - Graveyard Party Blues", "Gringos Locos - Jealousy (Official Video) (1987)", "Backsliders - National Nightmare", "Havana Black - Lone Wolf 1989" and "Royal Tramps - Colder, Rockstop 1991". The Finnish band, which showed the way to the 80s Finnish bands, was Hurriganes. With a 'g', because it sounds more Rock that way. That was pretty much the attitude towards English language. E.g. Hurriganes' singer/drummer, Remu, coundn't speak English that much. Lemmy befriended with them: "Lemmy from Motörhead vs. Hurriganes", "Hurriganes - Tallahassee Lassie [Studio] [Lyrics] [HQ]" and "Hurriganes - Get On". Their album "Roadrunner" was the best selling Finnish album in Finland for ten years (1974-1985). Some of the most popular bands in Finland are 80s bands, so the 80s never really went away in Finland: "HIM Wicked Game Official Video", "THE 69 EYES: Lost Boys (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO)" , "Reckless Love - Romance" and "Brother Firetribe - For Better Or For Worse".

For you Peer Gunt (gynt) fans. That band broke up and only guitarist/singer is the same. Drummer and bass player are in a band called D.D.R. (Dog Days Revolution). There is the real Peer Gunt sound. Not in Peer Gunt anymore. Don't missunderstand. They ar good too. Btw. Check out Smack. Pure Streetrock band from early -80s. Band that have give inspiraton for Guns and Roses + Nirvana etc.
