Simone… Disney princess, opera queen and rock goddess in one delightful package.

Great song, great reaction. As someone who has followed these guys since they debuted their 2nd album I absolutely love their chemistry and outputs atm, they consistently release great music. Over the moon that I get to see these guys live again in next months "The Symphonic Synergy", full orchestra and choir with some special guest singers I expect.

I was there and it was a great show. It was a co-headline show with Apocalyptica.

Always happy seeing you reacting to EPICA. Is there a soul in artificial selection? More questions&answers on October. You"ll get your invitation soon. Cheers from Greece!

Your pronunciation of 'Simone Simons' is correct. Nice reaction again 🤘🤘🤘🤘

It's actually not. But she doesn't care. I saw an interview where she, herself, says it's si-mone-ay Simmons. But again, she's not worried about it.

Yep, Coen Janssen's portable keyboard gets a look from most reactors. lol. It is a REVO-1 Curveboard, made by Nu-Motion in Montreal. He has taken it crowd surfing before, including at the 20th anniversary show 2 years ago. Song is from the 2021 8th album, Omega. Lyrics by Simone, music by Coen. Love the middle eastern/Egyptian feel . Enjoyed your breakdown of the song and Simone's voice. Mark Jansen's growls are one of the reasons I came around to harsh vocals in the first place, never used to like them at all. This show recorded in Amsterdam, early 2023, same show as the "Rivers" feat Apocalyptica video you reacted to.

No worry you don't break our hearts with your comment on growling, we fans of that just think you're wrong about it. ;) . This said, my favorite singers are typically those that can do both and can seemlessly change from one into the other (Tomi Joutsen comes to mind, Mikael Stanne from Dark Tranquility, of course Tatyana from Jinjer), so you have a point here as far as possible mainstream appeal is concerned. And given how much more successful Nightwish are, I'd say even the measured way Epica uses growls already is too much for a lot of people. I absolutely love them, in my eyes they are the best of the best in the symphonic metal world, musically, lyrically and vocally.

Great reaction to a great song man. And you're right, there is a geographical clustering in metal, when you start to think about it. There are always bands that jump out of their surroundings of course, but you can indeed see a german folkmetal grouping, a scandinavian melodeath or a italian powermetal grouping. interesting to see how even in this globalised world there is still that cultural local effect. thanks man and see you again.

Epica is ridiculously good, man. Haha Heavy and melodic in the same time, technically in the right point, very executed transitions, from classical to symphonic death in minutes… and live is better 🔥

I don't have Discord, so I will suggest an artist here. You should listen to Dianne van Giersbergen, another incredible Dutch singer who was formerly the lead singer of Xandria and is the current singer of Ex Libris. She is releasing songs from her upcoming album which was co-written by Arjen Lucassen of Ayreon. She is a pure spinto soprano and has a stunning voice. Listen to her song A Symphonic Tragedy.

Love Epica for a long time. Yesterday I was at the concert in Amsterdam. They had a full orchestra, choir and childrens choir... Thought they could not do better but yesterday they did. They just did.... I'm still dazed...

A wonderful band Eric with the wonderful Simone. Symphonic metal leading ladies Simone, Floor of Nightwish, Diane Van Giersbergen previously with Xandria now with Ex Libris to name three all have phenomenal voices and the three mentioned are Dutch. Thank you for a great reaction 🙏😊👍❤️
