Top 10 Quality of Life Features I Want in XDefiant!

So far, I've been loving my play time on XDefiant but I often find myself missing certain quality of life features that I think could go a long way to improve the overall player experience. Today, I wanted to share my top 10 non-gameplay features that I think could have the biggest positive impacts on the game. What are some QoL features that you'd really like to see in XDefiant?

Being able to save custom guns would be awesome but also being able to REMOVE ATTACHMENTS without having to go into that attachment submenu. Just like clicking X on that catagory removing it.

You can. Click the attachment. Like you want your optic gone- click optic, itll bring you to your optics. And the first option will be to not use one, then it lists your attatchment options, but the first option is "no attachment"

The ‘Creating Match’ pop up needs to go for sure. Why does it have to freeze the entire screen? So frustrating if I’m in the middle of changing a loadout.

My biggest request was on your list; a Mercenary Playlist. I absolutely adored having this as an option back in the classic CoD days, and it's been greatly missed! Hopefully something like this can be introduced. It's already super nice that matchmaking tends to match parties together more often as is, but having a truly solo que only playlist is the dream! Yup.. And if it freezes when you are putting on or removing an attachment it kicks you out the menu and you have to re add air remove the attachment again smh

Edit the HUD completely. - Minimap size(red dots are tiny) - Hitmarker indicator size( Gets in the way cause of how big it is) - Kill/assist indicator size/ opacity Basically stuff to get rid or improve visual clutter.

on the topic of getting more info after dying, I noticed that when you respawn, you get red indicators on your screen for each player that damaged you, pointing to where they are. they don't stay very long, but can kind of give you a sense of how many people shot you.

It's hard for me to say what I would want nongameplay wise, because I have a lot of suggestions gameplay wise lol. I guess I would like: 1. Menus to not be interrupted when a lobby is being created 2. Having loadouts be the second tab, next to Lobby 3. Being able to choose a map by just pressing a button instead of holding a button (don't see the point in holding the button) 4. Being able to switch your choice of maps instead of being locked into one choice (I guess maybe they did this too prevent trolling but still) 5. Being able to see advanced stat changes on attachments EVEN WHEN THEY'RE NOT attached to the gun (or even when they're not unlocked yet) Also, Happy Father's Day Ace!

You basically listed everything that I was thinking. Only thing I would add that I think would help out new players is the ability to view the full map layout kinda how cod does it. This would help new players be able to see the layout of the map and view what routes they might want to take.

Reducing visual clutter would be great. Reducing the size of icons, moving the kill and assist notifications, and an option to remove name tags would help clear the screen a lot.

I would like to test all of the attachments available, on any guns in the firing range, even if I havent got it yet. Because as of right now, you can only test with the attachments you have unlocked.. I would like to try differents attachments, so If there is one I like, i can work towards unlocking it..

I dislike the fact that you cannot navigate the menu during match creation and it's especially annoying when I'm customizing a gun and I get kicked out of the menu after waiting about 10s for the match to be created. Not to mention whenever I join a match in progress while I just wanted to add a newly unlocked attachment to the gun

Love this, maybe the devs will actually notice this feedback I hope. I've tried tweeting and posting to reddit many times asking for a mercenary playlist. Also show parties in lobby like you said. Solo experience is rough in XD, especially if you have good stats. At least in cod a solo player can earn streaks to help them carry more. If they add a mercenary playlist my playtime would double immediately.

Persistent lobbies would improve my experience like 100 times. In 90% of my matches, i'm still getting killed instantly and i need to get like 20 hitmarkers to kill, so if i could just stay in that one lobby, which works, i'd enjoy the game much more

Another QoL or accessibility feature that I would like to see would be a customizable HUD. Like being able to move certain elements around or make them bigger/different, change the color of the text, etc. I would love to be able to move the kill feed to the bottom left, because that's just where I'm used to it being because of CoD and literally every other FPS game that I've played in recent memory. I would also love to be able to increase the mini-map size just a bit and change it to a square instead of a circle so that it would show more stuff and more areas of the map.

As a game Dev myself some of the things you are asking for are not easy to implement so it will prob take some time other things would be fairly easy to do. Net code for me would be definitely #1 then kill cams would be #2 then prob a way to host a game for friends would be #3. As I am also working on a Multiplayer FPS I love to play XDefient, This game along with being a long time COD player have given me the tools I need to make a Good FPS, hopefully by then end of the year I should have it playable online. Keep up the good work Ace I'm glad you are covering both this and COD and I'm hoping this game is still going strong after BO6 as I have my doutes about it really changing to much but still have my fingers crossed.

One useful thing to have is that the game being "smart" enough to know that if you have a completed battle pass there is no need turn on 2xp tokens, if you're on that screen trying to enable a 2xp weapon token and the "Creating Match" banner appears, once you get again the cursor is set on the BP tokens and you risk wasting one since you need to be quick at that moment. (Happened to me twice)

One big reason I left COD was disbanding lobbies. I hope Xdefiant fixes that soon so I can keep playing. Not having to play against parties would also keep me around. I suck at solo, so imagine how bad I am against a party that is making call outs and using strategies.

1 QoL change i like to see is customizing your hud for the longest time thanks to MWII and MW2019 i sometimes forgot the Minimap even exists i wish we can increase the size of the Minimap or change it to like a giant square shape so that way people can notice it a bit more

Yo Ace, there is an indicator for headshots, it’s not in the kill feed, but on your death screen where it tells you what gun the killed you with, in the same area where it says if you were highlighted by the intel suit, it does show the headshot marker if they headshot you, vs if they regular kill you

More filters for searching for matches. For example, maybe a map filter if you do not want to play certain levels (maybe trying to complete challenges for weapons), and adding another filter option for games in progress

My biggest thing is the lobbies. People don’t understand how much that changes a game and is a big reason why the old CODs were so good. I have so many friends on Xbox because of being able to play with randoms multiple games. Also add Lobby leaderboards or combat records. Basically any way to see another player’s stats, faction preferences, and weapon preferences. Also changes the game more than people think. Allows you to pick out who you’re going to need to make your bitch pre match. Gives you a way better idea for what you’re in for than party indicators.

08:05 - you already know if you died by headshot on the bottom of your screen (where it also says stuff like revelead by intel or solar goggles). I'd love to see a damage recap tho similar to COD, it would explain why you died in split second (like getting sniped from behind and an opponent finishing you off, you may miss on that shot from behind and wonder why you just died) Still, a HS icon in kill feed would be nice regardless, just for bragging rights :D

For those who don't know if you died to a headshot, look in the bottom left. It will show a little skull with crosshair on the forehead and say ___ killed you using ___. Wish it was a bit more obvious but still useful. Look at 9:22 in the bottom left.

Happy Father’s Day, Ace! I have a question regarding cod killcams. You say they aren’t perfectly accurate because it just uses time stamps and simulates what happened, which I get. What about spectating? Do you know if spectating is the same way, or is it a live feed of EXACTLY what the person playing is seeing? If you don’t know, no worries, but it’s just something I thought of now. Keep up the great work! You’re doing a great job.

It will be a similar situation, since game servers typically run on a low tickrate, like 30hz. Anything outside of the 30 actions per second is not recorded by the server and you won't see what happened in those moments. The only way you get to see what exactly happens on a player's screen is if they stream it for you, and even then you won't get the full picture unless they're playing at the same framerate as they're streaming at.

Xdefiant is a good game but I only play a few games until I start to feel bored. - I feel it would be great to add in skin unlocks similar to how Halo 3/COD blackout did it with getting achievements. Something I wish Apex Legends had done would have been "Hit [Master] (assuming it's the top ranked tier) to unlock character skin for your faction in ranked play". - Though it'll come soon, weapon diversity is pretty minimal. I'd love to see weapons like the PPSH, MG42, Scar, etc. added into the game. - A lot of the maps are designed great but many have a similar feel to them. 3 lane maps are great but when they are all 3 lanes it feels a bit stale for future content. - I like the map voting but hardly anyone votes so I'd love to see just a general UI rework to move things around.

when you die, the respawn screen tells you if you died by headshot. the skull next to what weapon that killed you displays it. you get the skull with a cross hair (the same as the one that pops up when you kill someone with a headshot) on it if it was a headshot.

Hardcore style mode like from COD would definitely draw me back in. I don't really like slow TTK much in most games, so hardcore is what keeps me in COD most of the time.

I really want to be able to skip the post match screen, or significantly reduce the timer to get back to the lobby. Also when you wait for a game and get the "creating match", make that not freeze the whole lobby. It's nice to tweak loadouts while waiting for a game.

Killcam and who dealt damage would be nice! Many times I’m in a 1v1 and I die by what I assume is a third party because their health is at 100 in the death screen. So some times I’m asking “how did I not win that gunfight”. It’s kind of hard figuring out who actually killed you.

A K/D counter in the corner so you don't have to keep pulling up the scoreboard. Saving weapon builds would be great as for some reason majority of my weapons disappeared and it put the default M4A1 instead, which I didn't realise untill I was loaded into a game. Not sure if anyone else has had that issue. But now I'm finding it difficult to recreate my previous builds.

Actually yeah, indicators for who's in a party would be nice. I've heard rumors that this game has party based matchmaking, but so far it's really hard to tell. When I play solo, my games on average seem to be more sweaty. However once I get in a 2-3 man party, games on average are really calm. Although that could just be my sample size with no SBMM present and time of day. Also "Sweat" not necessarily being more skilled, but who in the lobby is trying to abuse the meta as much as possible. Like, it's double exp weekend and I've seen a ton of teams using golden MP7s as opposed to leveling their weapons.

I know nothing about it, but from my experience, and "feels" if you play a 2 man party - you are likely to also play solos as much as other 2 player parties. but if you play 3 (or maybe more, I only have 2 friends) you certainly get put in a lot more party lobbies! and when you are like 2 average players at best, and your 3. is a noob, that just plays for the social aspect. You better get ready to lose, because I feel most lobbies are a lot more tryhard and coordinated than we ever manage to be :)

@@bannankev I personally don't like the MP7. My first gold weapon was the AA-12, if that tells you how much I value fun over tryhard. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to do well and I'm definitely better than the average joe. Just because people use the best doesn't mean they're anywhere close to the best. Just y'know, why are we try harding on double exp weekend? It's the one time you shouldn't be using your golden weapons.

This is a bit gameplay related, but also quality of life: I'm a mouse and keyboard player and in COD I use toggle to ADS, you hit right click once and you stay aimed down sights until you hit it again. That way you don't have to keep the right click pressed down and it's a lot more confortable on your fingers. In COD if you ADS and then sprint it takes you out of ADS, in xDefiant the same does not happen, you HAVE to hit right click a second time to get out of ads. In heated exchanges with multiple enemies where you want to take a few shots and sprint to cover it just does not work well.

Love the idea of a solo mosh style. As well as backing out of playing against teams beforehand. I've never dropped a match because we were getting destroyed by a party, because im not good enough to care about my kd, and I can take a loss without being upset. Ive been in matches where people complained and dropped out. While i understand, i also do not understand, I understand why. I don't understand the psychology behind having to feel like a pro, unless you are of course a pro. x2 boosters are a joke. First, they can make them in game time. Battlefield does. They offer fewer than CoD. CoD gives them out like candy, which compensates perfectly well for me. Xdefiant doesn't give many out, and the last time i used a 20 minute weapon bonus, it lasted me about 1.1 matches due to the huge delays between matches. For a game that focuses on ping or latency rather than skill, they're doing an awful job. I went into the second game with 2 minutes left on that 20 minute x2. By the time the matched loaded and started, it might have expired. 1.1 was generous. Hour tokens are almost a no go for me in xdefiant. I have a neurological disorder that causes excessive sleepiness. (Thinkng reading in bed, when you realizes you haven't taken in the last five pages because you hit micro sleep, and imagine playing a game in that state. 😂. One reason i like multiplayer fps is that the matches are about 10 minutes. If i need to nap after a match or two, cool. I have so many hour tokens with CoD i do not care if I lose some time on them. They'll give out have more on some seasonal challenge. Xdefiant needs to hsnd them out like candy, or make them in game time (like battlefield). Regarding persistent lobbies: most people do not use comms. I tend to turn them on. Put the mic to my mouth at the start to say "good luck everyone. And have fun!" And at the end to say "good game. good effort team" and congratulate the MVP. BUT, every single awesome conversation ive had with other players in matches, from people about my skill level who chat about everything from playing hockey to the book they're reading, to those high skill players who are down to earth and happy to party up with a bad player like me because I do my best, PTO, and simply keep chat positive, has been on Xbox. Every last one. No cross console party invites is bad. I've written down the screen names of these folk in hopes it comes in the future. But this goes beyond persistent lobbies a bit. The rest, like weapon build saves, i agree with. Just have nothing to say that you didn't say and in this instance think i agree with all 😊 P.s. Forgive spelling snd grammar. My fingers dont fit my phone. 😂. And yes, i still try to yo press up on the d pad to tag snipers for my team. Im full of laughs!

I think it would be awesome to customize the look of my character using pieces of different skins that I earn as I play. Maybe I use a headpiece from one and a leg piece from another. Maybe I use gloves from one and I use boots from another. that way there’s a little bit of personalization added to the character other than just skins that everybody has

Non magnified sights not costing an attachment slot because some weapons have unusable iron sights. Plus you know at some point they are going to have a weapon skin with superior iron so you wont need a red dot making it a pay to win since that slot can go to a different attachment.

I wish we had an S&D type mode and a wager match type of game mode(s). Doesn’t have to be that whole “gambling for kids wah wah wah” that people say. Maybe gun game, one in the chamber, etc. And you don’t wager anything, but 1, 2, and 3 get a small reward

Some walls definitely can be shot through even though they look like hard cover which just makes the net code stuff more confusing.

The most wanted thing i want is a TDM playlist. I dont always wanna play an objective. Sometimes, i just want to kill and run. Also, by doing this, i would be curious as to the spawn system. Right now, u would spawn near objectives u control or etc., but in a tdm mode would the spawns be like classic cod or would it be team spawn like more recent years. Personally i like the old way. It made it much more predictable to feel where an enemy would be coming from.

When you die I'd like it to show the many times you have killed each other. They had this feature in Blops 4.

on the contrary, i wish we could have things like cancel reload with ADS in bo6. i've never felt the need to YY once while playing xdefiant

For me I would love to use skins with mastery camos like in cod. As someone that always grinds mastery camos and with more confirmed to be coming I have no reason to use/ buy skins for weapons. I'm sure this would help a lot when it come to ubisoft making money, but it would also be nice to see.
