Also I don’t have the negative depressive/stressful association that I have with cod with xdefiant. When I think about playing xdefiant I don’t think “meh maybe I’ll just do something else tonight because it’s gonna be too sweaty”. With xdefiant I don’t think about what day of the week or time of day it is before getting on, I literally just get on and enjoy it every time. Even if I get a really bad lobby, I know there’s gonna be lots of easy ones as well.

I think people really underestimate the impact people’s past impressions/experiences on a game has on their motivation to keep playing it. It doesn’t matter how fancy the graphics are or how smooth the movement/gunplay is, I still have a very negative association in my mind with playing cod. Of course I’m still gonna try the game but I can’t guarantee I’ll keep playing for more than a couple months. I already completely gave up MW3 as soon as xdefiant came out and haven’t played it since.

I think the biggest factor is strict SBMM in casual playlists. If call of duty drops it then I'm afraid Xdefiant will be much less appealing besides being a smaller game that's free to play. Even if Call of Duty does this it'll still be really sad that it took them this long to even consider it.

Unless the CoD developers are more open about SBMM and they speak to it, even if just a little, then maybe I’ll consider picking up BO6. I suspect they’ll tone down SBMM during the first month of the games launch when people are renting it off blockbuster Xbox pass, then crank it up to 1000 when people actually pitch in the full price to own the game. Totally agree with you though; wait until the cod KZbinrs who aren’t bought over by activision give their feedback and go from there. Gone are the days where I’ll just hastily pre order a game. Too many times were left with half finished games that take 5-6 months post launch to get it to a buyable, playable, worthwhile purchase.

@DoubleDDeacon I was leveling up the M44 over Double XP weekend. This is just my personal experience when quick scoping. Flinch is minimal because you either get the kill or miss and scope out before you're being shot. But when rescoping in gunfire, it's a coin toss if I center properly or not. While hardscoping, flinch can swing upwards OR downwards! So, in a game like CoD, you could aim at the lower body, and the flinch would jump your shot to the upper torso or a headshot. That's not the case with xDefiant. XclusiveAce speculated, that downwards recoil happens when you get hit in the head while upward flinch was on a body shot, but that's merely a theory. Maybe you're a top 5% player, and you can perfectly tame the flinch without noticing it, but I am not, and it has vastly upped the skill floor on snipers from the launch state (at least for me it has).

@DoubleDDeacon I've been playing with snipers a little more and noticed that each scope has a different level of flinch, too. The 12x and 8x have a -25% flinch control stat while the variable zoom only has a -10%. The level of zoom also affects the flinch perception. Using the M44 with a 4x zoom, the flinch seems minimal, but my Tac 50 with the 12x is brutal. A 4x scope does make getting kill shots harder at a distance, though. I think it's a nice balance although the 8x scope is definitely my least favorite, high flinch, slower zoom-in in and lower consistently (at least for me).

The thing is, XDefiant is free to play and will constantly be improving in the background for years to come. Meanwhile, when Treyarch’s year is up COD players will only have an IW release to look forward to that costs yet another $70-$100. At the end of the day, unless COD makes some serious changes that are doubtful to ever happen, XDefiant will always have a much more pleasant player experience. When COD players are dealing with the daily frustrations that are part and parcel to the modern COD experience, XDefiant will be there offering a warm hand, new content, and quality of life updates all for the low low price of $0.

T2 plays quite different with the grapple movement/titan mechanic & quake seems more like halo/doom. Even though T2 didn’t take off, they did use all its assets to make Apex Legends which has devoured Warzone’s player base alongside Fortnite, so I don’t think you can discount the competitiveness of these games, especially when they’re free to play alternatives for a game already haemorrhaging players like Cod

Fortnite took some Cod players, but most stayed; Apex took some Cod players but most stayed. The XD player base will shrink a bit when bo6 releases, but a good chunk of XD players left Cod and don’t play it anymore, they’ll stay. First. Doubt it except for an alternative for when cod seasons don't have xp boosts or slow down. There's a lot of room for adjustment in XD like TTK stuff and not so much grind for attachments. Unlocked all the weapons and factions.

I definitely think there's space for both of these games. The fact that XDefiant is free to play is going to be a major point, and I think if you look at things like the new movement system it actually points to the value of XDefiant. XDefiant is COD if it stopped evolving forward 10 years ago, it's simpler and that is a deliberate design decision. If you just want to jump online and shoot people in a game that's pure fun, XDefiant is one of the best games you can play. If you want something that's more nuanced, more complex with its movement and ballistics, but sets you back £70 then COD is fine but I think XDefiant will always be there for people to fall back into when they just want something simpler. I also think XDefiant is being made on a MUCH smaller budget. Like maybe 10 or 20% of a Call of Duty game, so that's something you need to factor in when thinking about this games success.

I’ve been surprisingly loving XDefiant all thanks to a word we’re meant to hate, It’s casual. I’m older and busier, so this golden age era cod style game, with tweaks that remove points of frustration, with its barnblitz looking maps, with overwatch abilities that can create teamwork, That’s free(!), is just so much more fun and varied. It’s intuitive and feels like every choice matters, and there’s no drone from someone’s 2 kill streak gonna pop up to ruin the 8 streak I have that were making me overly cautious. the big thing is xdefiant is free and cod is 70 dollars. it used to be that the full price game demanded a certain level of quality and these layered micro transaction systems were unacceptable. But thats clearly been thrown out the window since bo4 and arguably even before then. the multiplayer is nothing other games havent done or are already doing and as a zombies fan i tuned out when i heard dark aether is coming back. the campaign has to really cook and even then very few games release a singleplayer experience that warrants a full price by itself.

Flinch for snipers only works when shooting the snipers with a chrome lined or heavy barrel with an AR or LMG. At least that's what I'm seeing. Other than that, they are exactly the same as they were pre patch. I was using the TAC-50 and realized that for some players i was getting no flinch at all when they were shooting at me but I would get flinch to others. That made me curious So I first let them kill me when I was getting flinch and it was mostly to the ak-47, RPK and ACR. Then I also didn't shoot at the players when i wasn't getting flinch and they were mostly using SMG's but a few were using rifles that were giving me flinch previously during my first test. I then figured it had to be the barrel on the heavy guns that was making the difference. So I built a few loadouts with different barrels. The only ones that actually got snipers running, were the rifles and LMG's with the chrome lined or heavy barrel. I never tested SMG's with the chrome lined and heavy barrel so I'm not sure if those are giving flinch or not. I suggest using the RPK with a chrome lined barrel and extended muzzle to get the best results against snipers. The will scatter like roaches 😂

Its upsetting because Xdefiant was supposed to be a movement shooter, but bunny hopping is getting nerfed rather than buffed. They should lean into the oldschool movement and make it more like quake where your jumps carry your momentum and create momentum.

I absolutely love this game. I’m not here. It’s a simply trash call of duty because there would be no XD if it wasn’t for call of duty. But I will save my love of multiplayer is fully back since the black ops 2 days when I was binge watching your channel. Warzone was a masterpiece and if they can reclaim that with bringing back Verdanks terrific. But I really hope XD can survive the juggernaut that call of duty is and survive. I’m actually through with paying 70 dollars a year to have my skins and past mtx purchases invalidated. So, I decided about a year or so ago that I truly will never play another CoD unless they introduce some sort of legacy system that allows for skins and what not to be transferred from game to game. If not the skins themselves then at least the currency I used to buy them available to me in the next game as well. Outlandish and out of pocket as that is, I’m sticking to this decision. At least with how Ubisoft has run R6S I don’t think I have to worry about an Xdefiant 2 popping up in a year to invalidate my skin purchases. Problem with the modern cods is that they operate on the same model that Xdefiant does, but also costing a premium 70 bucks for entry. Yeah, not for me.

I genuinely have not played MWIII ever since xdefiant came out (except I played like one day just to try the new guns). Even after black ops comes out I guarantee I’m gonna be coming back to this game at least a couple times a week. I’m fully addicted because of no sbmm. Playing cod gives me a stressed/depressive feeling and I don’t get that from xdefiant at all. I’m basically always on edge playing cod with sbmm and not playing it has improved my mental health dramatically.

XDefiant will survive. It’s free to play and will be supported for YEARS to come and will only get better with time and most importantly you FEEL yourself getting better at the game. COD is $70 every single year with minimal support and lackluster updates and its matchmaking is essentially made to make you feel bad

XDefiant is just flat out free and it’s a game with a long support plan. There’s more than enough space for it to exist

I think XDefiant can survive even black ops 6. The game has no SBMM,input based matchmaking, and weaker aim assist. On top of all that’s it’s free to play . So if we assume(because it most likely will!) BO6 will have SBMM similar in strength to recent titles there’s going to be a good percentage of gamers that will gravitate to XDefiant for those aforementioned reasons I stated previously!

Skill based match making shouldn’t be added, they have RANKED for a reason, there is ranked unranked skill base matching making is for ranked while unranked is supposed to just be more relaxed

Bo6 would have to be uncharacteristically good for recent cods. Otherwise it will go the same way as Cold War. Also the new COD is probably going to be like 250gb and not going to run anywhere as good XDefiant on my pc. My six year old computer runs XDefiant like a dream, I highly doubt BO6 is going to look good enough or run well enough on my pc.

Personally im waiting for a free to play beta or weekend to test if i even like b06 before i potentially buy it. Plus xdefiant being free means i can always play that whenever, im also pretty far leveled on guns there so id want to finish those out even if i bought the new cod. My friend group has a cycle of games we play for about a month and then swap so im happy with either

I personally haven't played a cod since blops 3 but the franchise is still doing fine. Everyone will say xdefiant will kill cod and then go and buy the new cod as soon as it drops. 😂

The fact that I already completely forgot The Finals exists really says a lot. I’m never going to just simply forget that xdefiant exists because I’ve had way too much fun on it. I don’t get why people keep comparing xdefiant to other games and saying it’s gonna die as fast as others because it’s a completely different type of game and it’s basically a solution to a problem (sbmm) and unless Activision suddenly decides to solve that problem in their games, people are going to keep playing xdefiant. Especially since the game is free that brings in a whole player base that doesn’t exist with multiplayer cod.

I think it’s has around 15 million legitimate views from people that actually clicked to watch. Not from fake views after a Burger King ad.

They need content in XDEFIANT. it’s too slow to level up weapons and that basically the only grind I have for my quick dopamine hits. I don’t care to grind faction members/weapons I won’t use. After a few games without double xp I turn it off. I really like the game but I need those little grinds throughout. That’s why COD maintained so much of my time.

The fact it’s the return of Black Ops series that has been absent for nearly 4 years and a Treyarch game, I do think it will flatten Xdefiant for a little while just from casuals alone. Doesn’t mean this game won’t have some hardcore players stick around but…. It’s not looking good brev.

The biggest thing about xdef is that it is new it has not gone through the cheating and moded lobbies that call of duty is well familiar with as well as a yearly cycle it took them how many years to put out one game I think when people get bored of this new game and they’re sitting there waiting for a new content is when the rubber is going to meet the road as well as no skill base matchmaking is going to make it tough for new players to get started in the game, which I will be glad as well as overjoyed when the skill base matchmaking haters have to swallow their pride

Black Ops 6 is temporary. Xdefiant will stay for years if everything goes as planned including weapons, progress which is a huge plus for me AND its free to play/no pay to play online. Why would i want to even play B06 in hopes it will be like old times (BO2) which it will never be

Eh, I mean it depends on what Ubisoft's expectations for XDefiant are. XDefiant is and was never going to become a CoD killer, but it can carve out it's own niche of players that despise SBMM. The only reason XDefiant would need to worry is if BO6 introduced a no SBMM game mode, which is not going to happen.
