I think Soto will do well on the Yankees. Some players can't handle that spotlight, but Soto loves it. However, I don't think the Yankees fleeced the Padres at all. They gave up a LOT for essentially a rental. If Soto loves the Yankees and re-signs into a long contract, then awesome! But, I see him going UFA and looking for that monster contract... will the yanks open the coffers again for Soto after just signing Judge to that huge deal?

Idk about fleace but they didn’t give up anything really for Soto. Michael king is at best a 3 but will be better out of the pen. Thorpe throws 92 and that doesn’t work anymore in mlb. He is the prefect minor league pitcher. Nobody else in the trade is even worth mentioning. Sure padres got innings. If you told me a month ago we would end up with Soto and still have Volpe, Domingues, Spencer Jones, Wells And Chase Hampton, I wouldn’t believe you.

If Soto stays healthy--he and Judge (who if he ALSO stays healthy) will be as fearsome a 1-2 punch as there is in MLB. BUT, the Yankees rotation still has MAJOR holes, and the everyday roster lacks athleticism and speed--(especially compared to the Orioles and Rays.) They'll be able to outslug weaker pitching--but if this is the only major move that the Yankees make they're a mid 80's win team at best--that's it. They HAVE to get a big-time starter if they want to be a serious contender in the AL for 2024!

Juan Soto is a helluva player but spending THAT much on a 1 season rental for a non contending team is a really stupid move & shows how desperate the front office is. Based on everything Soto has been saying, & the reason why the Padres traded him, he’s not going to resign for the Yankees unless they offer him the most money. Soto is signing the most valuable contract next year period regardless of what team it is. This guy saying the Yankees “destroyed & fleeced” the Padres shows how ignorant he is on baseball.

As much as I want Yamamoto to be a Yankee, that is an unknown commodity. Yes, he dominates in Japan. Yes, he did well in international play, but the one guy I would like to see the Yankees go after and no one and I mean no one is talking about this guy is Julio Urias. He is an absolute stellar, consistent, lefty pitcher who has carried that Dodgers rotation for many years. He’s young. He doesn’t have a huge injury record and he probably could be gotten for a decent price. He deserves a really big contract but he probably won’t get as much as some other guys. Definitely won’t get as much as Yamamoto, I think it’s a given to most people that he’s going to stay in LA but I genuinely think if the Yankees could get him and Yamamoto or another big free agent, they could be propelled to definitely be the favorite from the American League I really don’t understand why no one brings this up

Who really gave a crap when they won. we knew they would win. Yanks have the AL Cy Young. A stacked rotation and deep bullpen. They had a top 10 pitching staff despite 4/5 of that rotation getting injured. Soto adds run production to the lineup that makes them Top 10. The Padres had a dysfunctional organization that derailed their season. The Yankees have consistently been a winning organization; they just haven’t won the title. They will make additional moves to secure the title this season

The Yankees 10000% fleeced them, the orginization does not have good recent history of developing starting pitching for the most part and the padres starting pitching development has also been spotty. Baically gave up a fringe 5th starte/really good bullpen arm, a fringe mlb pitcher in brito, 2 complete unknowns at the next level and a 33 year old backup catcher for a top 10-15 player that will most likley resign on some insane 10-13 year mega deal.
