Was always on the proverbial fence (so to speak lol) when it came to Black Star, just due to all the shops that had em were usually used models, and those poor amps looked like they were beaten to hell. Once i would plug into then the sales clerk would 7/10 times tell me "oh, you'll only really like that with a Boost pedal". But this amos head 🤘 just wow bro!! I swear, if i wasn't of Disability/fixed income I'd, totally! Go after this lol!!! Id even adandon going after my dream amp head, which is a Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier. Only reason ive ever wanted a single (maybe a dual tops) is just the style i play, and these days (even back when the i was dialing in settings) the single reacted better. Lol just a convo starter i guess

This sounds way better than the HT 60 I had which was dark no matter how much treble ir presence i used. Even with an OD pedal is was not a good sounding amp to me

I have the HT 40 Venue combo amp. Love it with a DS-1 in front. it tightens it up to my ear! really happy the gain on it isn't super fizzy either, that's what I was looking for in my amp!

I don't know man. I was really excited about this amp since I loved my old HT-40 Mk I, and I ordered the Mk III 100w head. It was incredibly dark with both my Mesa OS cab and my 1960AX. Even with the presence cranked, it was too dark and harsh at the same time, no real pleasant sizzle to the tone. Ended up sending it back. I have come to the conclusion that the HT amps were voiced specifically to match the Celestion 70/80 speakers that come in the combos and Blackstar cabs, since those are very bright and sizzly speakers. I guess that's why I like my HT-40 and never really felt the need to upgrade the speaker, and therefore never understood the 70/80 hate.

Man I had that same combo and as much as I wanted to I couldn't love it. The sounds felt flat at dead somehow. Devoid of personality. Traded it for an Orange TH30 that I absolutely loved

@@t00talbr00tal Yeah I don't know, I was surprised when watching the video because Kyle was saying how the amp can get super bright and stuff... Maybe I got a faulty one? I don't know. As far as the HT40 combo, I really loved it man. I gigged that amp for like 10 years. I guess it's all a matter of taste. Funny that you name the TH30, since I'm getting a Rockerverb 50 as soon as I get the money back from the Blackstar!

As good as these amps sound, Blackstar always gives me the feeling they hold some features back in their products... The original line of HT amps, I think from 60 watts and bigger had a Boost function that you could set up as a third OD channel or like a toggle switch (which you could turn on or off when using the clean channel too) which of course was footswitchable... I don't understand choices like removing something as useful as that function, like when they removed the presence control in the MK II run, or offering a 2 button footswitch when the Mk I versions included a 4 button footswitch... or instead choosing to offer the ability to switch between the different voices via footswitch... am I the only one who wouldn't even think of doing that?

What I immediately noticed in Ola's review of the "Kraken" amp is, it's really small.. almost like a 15-20 watter. Ironically, the amp is too small to be an actual 'Kraken'.. ahh, okay now I get it. Hmmmmmmm

I think it's the best demo of that amp for sure, but man I'm not excited about it...when it came out I was because of all the features but at the end of the day, it seems to sound a bit sterile overall imho. Channel 3 OD2 sounds pretty good but apart from that, it's like there's no character or something. I would still choose my good old Peavey 3120 over this in terms of a ''cheap'' 3 channel amp.

No. You have to use the Direct option in the software to load your own IR files or use plugins and you can't store them inside the amp either. That's reserved for Cabrig. It's the "DI" option in the upper-left hand corner of the cab selection, you can see it @23:52 in the video.

Oddly enough, I'm always seeing Boss Katana amps at Pawn America, but I never see any Blackstar. Right now, I see some Blackstar speaker cabs, but there's at least 3 or 4 Katana amps being pawned off, as usual. I wonder why that is.. hmmmmm

BLACKSTAR no doubt sounds good BUT once you're out of warranty, the surface mounted PCBs are NOT really made to last like most classic amps.. so this is like a disposable amp that wears out but for repair and long term maintinance? what a joke. it's all business you will have to replace them like it or not. This is coming from owning 3 of their tube amps

Man that reminded me of the time I laid my HT 60 Combo on its face to change the speakers and when I got it back up it was squealing and Maki all kinds of noise. Took it to a tech and he said something cracked on the inside which he fixed and then it created a grounding issue which he also fixed I'm glad he was really inexpensive. I sold nit to long after mainly because it was so dark sounding
