I'm back with The Sapling! Specifically my first ever video on the Food & Fire update. I was meant to just sort of get a feel for all the new stuff, but instead wound up geeking out about phytoplankton... Oh well! Feel free to comment below anything you want me to try!

The plant and root seperation is a definite bug. Dev said himself there was 50 confirmed issues already that he needed to fix

The "big head" isnt a head, its for the animals the feed on liquid ( sap, nectar and blood) to carry more food And yes you should watch the devlogs

Thanks for the info about the storage organ! Not to worry, I'm no stranger to playing betas, early access games, and things that are generally buggy! My channel has grown significantly since I started playing the Sapling, but for the most part I used to play super old games, which are SO full of glitches, haha!

if the fire feature is working can you tinker with an ecosystem that rebounds after a fire or even requires fire? I think I saw in the devlog video that you can make certain plant seeds need fire to open and disperse

Make a really hot planet ( with volcanos, high temperatures all year round and the highest chance for wildfires you can get ) and see how much time it takes to get fire proof bark and or other fire mutations

Yes, those leech mouths eat blood, there are new food sources and some split from others, for example Blood, Dead meat,Iiving meat. All come from the old category of just meat

red blobs= planktons, meaning its a filter feeder green blobs=sap, trees without the barks

sap can come from all trees, the sap icon is a green blob with white liquid (sap) dripping out.

Make a macro algae, a very simple fish, put them on a default planet and see how they evolve for a IRL week

If you find the game in your list on Steam, right click, and select properties, there should be a "betas" tab in the properties panel!
