ISLAND EVOLUTION | The Sapling

I'm back with The Sapling! Several of you requested a predominantly water world with a couple of islands! On this one I have two separate species evolving in parallel, and the next time I try it it'll be the same species evolving to different conditions! Stay tuned!

Yellow “snack sack” means it has eaten nectar. If it was a blood drinker, it would turn red

What I love most about your videos, is that you actually have a masters degree and is currently studying phytoplankton; and you’re playing this game. Maybe I’m just sick of most KZbinrs playing scientific simulators. Just to throw crap at the wall and see what sticks. I literally watched one video, where a KZbinr put a planet around a black hole. And then suggested the alien plants on the planet needed bioluminescence to perform photosynthesis... sure that shit won’t die of a heat death. Now excuse me, I am going to hook up a rechargeable battery to a motor, that turns another motor, that charges the battery.

Can you possibly run a similar experiment, except with only one inhabited island and with mutations for plants on as well to see if they can successfully colonize the uninhabited ones?

Just btw you can swap the globe to a map view in the world generator. this makes it easier to see what your world is actually going to look like.

I think the placement of the fruit and flowers on the plant may influence whether the animals can reach it or not? Also, I love how you've basically begun to do experiments with controlled variables.
