When Guilmon first evolved in this series, he got stuck in the Champion form for a few days before reverting back. They didn't have much control over the evos at first, and its a lot harder hiding a 12 foot tall dinosaur than a 4 foot fall one in the middle of a big city. And like you said, terriermon went berserk the first few times. At one point, they ask if Renamon is a female, because it usually has a female voice. Renamon responds that Digimon don't have gender, they are programs, not biological beings. Then for some reason, the German dub gives Renamon the deepest, most masculine voice they could find. In general, the digimon are just referred to gender by their voices. Impmon, the tiny devil thing, gets "dropped into hell" and is evolved to Beezlemon to be used as a weapon against the kids. Renamon gets the best evos by far in this season. The 2d art is so much better than the CGI the others get.

Worth probably mentioning, since Gender's a bit of a different term now, what Renamon means is more of the idea of Digimon having a birth sex, since gender is more in presentation. Which is a helpful distinction because while Renamon isn't female, the sub translation and the Dub do use female pronouns and even goes through a whole thing where she's romantically pursued by a male-coded Digimon that keeps talking about how beautiful she is. So there is no sex, but there is gendered language and framing every now and then. Which is just super interesting to me, honestly. But because this series came out in the 90s before this whole conversation was even a thing, it just gets described as "Digimon don't have genders", and most people basically get what that means in context. Just for clarification.

A warp digitation is when a digimon evolves more steps at once. Impmon (the small viollet one) i a rookie level you could say child level and his warp digitation ignores his champion and ultra level complet and goes straight up to mega the highest level, beelzebubmon or beelzemon. Its like in the first one when agumon evolves to wargraymon there you can see he goes von agumon directly to wargreymon ignoring greymon and metalgreymon

Nice video :D This series is not only dark because of the deaths (cause even in the previous 2 season there are lots of deaths) but also for the themes it has and explores, like depression, redemption, trauma, forgiveness, loss, etc. Also here's a fun fact to avoid any confusion on later videos, digimon works like a multiverse in which every season (manga and game) is a different universe unless said otherwise (like 02 that is a direct sequel of the first one), so every universe has its rules and lore on their own, thought they influence each other in some ways, basically each season apart from the sequels are different universes :b also another fun fact: the humans that have digimons are called tamers (that's why this season has that name xd) the term appeared in the first serialized manga of the franchise even before the first anime, but in the previous 2 seasons the terms they used were chosen children (or digidestined in the english dub) as it was more of a prophecy and stuff, but for this season there is no prophecy, no chosen ones and that so they used again the term for this series and well this is technically the correct term for any human with a digimon partner :b

This is where the distinction between sex and gender becomes really useful. Because they can't reproduce, so there is no real male or female Digimon, but Angewomon clearly presents feminine, right? So it's more that they present or identify as a gender despite being sexless because they're all just data and programs. Hopefully that makes sense.

Probably worth mentioning, "Realizing" is a term thrown around every now and then in the series. Basically, Digimon are data. They're not supposed to come to our world and become 'real' things made of matter and stuff. So when real stuff like humans go to the Digital world, they're "Digitized" and turned into data. But when Digimon come to the real world, they "Realize" and become actual matter and stuff. It really doesn't change anything, but sometimes there are plot points about how powerful Digimon struggle to "Realize" because of how much data needs to be turned into real matter. Tamers actually has a cool plot point around this where whenever a Digimon comes to our world, the act of "Realizing" creates this giant data fog around them that they're confined to for a period of time as their body adjusts to the new environment. This is also how they get around people knowing about Digimon (for a while), because in Tamers every Digimon fight is hidden in a giant ball of fog, meaning they're obscured and not just battling out in the open.

But somehow it turned into a Digimon and got into the Human World. As a result, as you said. It became the catalysts to the tamers partners digivolution.

One of the best things the Card Game did is sort Digimon by Levels, which just feels more intuitive and allows them to compare a lot of weird edge case weird forms in a logical way. English on the left, Japanese Sub name on the right Level 0 = Egg Level 1 = Fresh / In Training I Level 2 = In Training / In Training II Level 3 = Rookie / Child Level 4 = Champion / Adult Level 5 = Ultimate / Perfect Level 6 = Mega / Ultimate Level 7 = "Mega / Ultimate", but they are also referred to as 'Ultra'. As an example: Level 1 = Botamon Level 2 = Koromon Level 3 = Agumon Level 4 = Greymon Level 5 = MetalGreymon Level 6 = Wargreymon Level 7 = Omnimon Part of the reason I love this so much is that it also allows us to contextualize other forms. Like, for example, Armor Forms are all Level 4, putting them around the same power as Champion or Adult stage Digimon. This gets super helpful when the series introduces things like Hybrids or Xros Digimon that break the mold and don't fall into conventional stages. Hope that clears things up!

Always remember to pause when referencing something to look cool. 😎 Trying to jog your memory sometimes ends up too long (but you do speak English well ). I know I kinda excluded any additional description for evolutions as I don't want to clutter the screen with text (but I did in the later videos), but essentially when you see "Warp Evolution", it means it is an evolution that skips stages. I extended the Dark Evolution scene for you to see the dark theme but I guess you need to watch it again. Or just imagine Ash losing Pikachu forever. You will yet to see the insanely dark scenes when you actually watch it. Also Naruto's voice coming in the next series Frontier, voicing the main character.

Digimon evolve by absorbing data, the more data they absorb, the faster they evolve. Normally, a digimon will gather data, either by passively absorbing it from the environment or by defeating another digimon and absorbing their data; evolving through this process results in a permanent evolution, like how it happened to Tailmon in Digimon Adventure, so digimon who evolve like this stay that way. On the other hand, evolution can be forced through the use of a Digivice, which creates faux code that enables the digimon to evolve temporarily, after which the digimon returns to its natural level; usually the Digivice is only strong enough to force evolutions up to champion level, and further levels require higher amounts of data from other sources, like the emblems in Digimon Adventure or the cards in Digimon Tamers.

Funny you should mention the voice of Naruto cause both him and Sasuke's voice actors make an appearance in the series. I won't say when cause I don't wanna spoil your reaction if you catch it yourself. Also the reason you may have thought it was Naruto for Kyuubimon is because Kyuubi means ninetails in japanese, so you've heard the word there as well.

some spoilers since you said you werent gonna watch it but impmon/beelzemon isnt exactly a 'good' guy, he did literally killed countless digimons including leomon who was the partner to 1 of the main cast and leomon's partner impmon basically started out as a troublemaker, like his name he was a prankster who harassed the main characters and constantly expressed a dislike for humans yet ultimately he was a harmless villain but when the plot started picking up and things ramped up in dangerousness impmon became jealous at how everyone else managed to achieved evolutions into their higher forms but he couldnt because he ran away from his own partners for certain reasons so when opportunity presented itself he made a deal with the enemy for power which he got drunk off of for a while, he was given the power to digivolve into his mega/ultimate form beelzemon at the cost of being tasked to hunt down the main characters but he was later defeated however instead of being revenge killed they choose to spared his life instead and later ended up getting saved by them again after he lost his powers and devolved back into impmon back in the real world he reconciles with his tamers and then later sees the main characters on tv struggling against the final antagonist and to make up for all that he has done he decided to go and join the fight giving everything he has, this time digivolving into beelzemon of his own power and even going into blast mode gaining a new weapon and wings (his eyes also changed colors to red to green too) and this very scene cemented him as a fan favorite character, also because he did nearly die in the ensuring fight too

@@AnimeZipCommunity considering he was only beelzemon in the digital world and only briefly during the final battle in the real world his power-trip phase where he massacred a bunch of digimon was only in the digital world something interesting to note is that leomon was deader then dead due to beelzemon absorbing his data so there was no hope for revival of any sorta, this is even further cemented by how during the final battle he tapped into leomon's data within him and even used leomon's signature skill too so whatever was left of leomon lies solely within beelzemon/impmon

this season also has some clear references too the matrix movie, even one of the characters wears a very similar trench coat and sunglasses early on, plus of course you have the very matrix aesthetic this time for the evolutions and a literal evolution called matrix evolution. there probably also some ghost in the shell inspiration in this series too especially in the latter half. it is indeed a more darker tone series but i'd argue that digimon savers is more darker after watching both of them, but if you are looking for a more mature digimon series this and savers would be the ones to go. unless of course you already watched adventures and are watching tri because tri is also darker. the next series after Tamers, Frontier is considered the black horse of the franchise and one major reason is the abandoning of digimon and their partners, but you will see why.

I rewatched the series few months ago. It doesn't aged well tbh. Don't get me wrong. The introduction of 12 zodiac Digimon, 4 sovereign Digimon and Dreaper program as the enemy is a cool idea. However, the implementation is a bit forgettable. The character development for Takato is kinda all over the place. The usage of cards also became lesser as they evolved further. Not including the part where they merge of course. But would love to see it comes back from time to time. And don't get me started with their "late" realization of Culumon role. Anyway, it is still enjoyable. They have amazing digivolutions and some of the best songs from the Digimon franchise. And you're correct. For the ultimate evolution (biomerge), they each have different intros to the same song. How cool is that. And they're all good 😆❤

@@AnimeZipCommunity I'm not sure about that. But I think it's true they're trying/experimenting something that is different from the first two seasons in how the violence and emotions are portrayed. Thus, became a darker season. Which is debatable since the 1st two seasons actually also have that. Only this season surprisingly include a partner Digimon dying (among other things) as you've seen in the video. I would say that part was done pretty well. This series does have deep lessons to be learned so I wouldn't say it's just purely for enjoyment. The good storyline is also there. Just felt like cut short here and there. For this season, their approach is a bit relatable since the tamers are normal kids who like Digimon as a franchise. Basically fans like us. I think even in the continuation, later in season 6 Xros Wars it's kinda implied that Takato (Tamers) is a fan of Taichi/Daisuke (Season1&2) which is so cool. Think of it like Marvel multiverse. I do hope you would watch one day and give it your own thoughts 😄😍

I kind-of disagree? Tamers is great and I freaking love it, even on a rewatch. But yeah, Takato's arc is just sort-of a mess and I really can't stand some of his episodes. Also, by the time they go Ultimate, the cards just stop really being a thing? Which is fine, but it is kind-of weird to think about after how much they were built up so far. But yeah, still a good series and I think it hits way more than it misses.

@@dracocrusher It's fine. I do love it too tbh. I mean it was amazing for its time. The song for Ultimate (One Vision) always gets me hype all the time. The usage of cards was cool while it lasted. I honestly believe they could've still implemented the cards usage even until the Perfect level which was such a shame. I love the character development of Ruki & Renamon. There are definitely a lot more hits than misses. But story-wise, I like Frontier more tbh 😆❤️

@@fubuki5hiro764 Honestly, people sleep on Frontier a lot. Frontier was actually pretty great until the final arc just stretched things out way too long, and even then it still sticks the landing. It's a shame Izumi/Wendy is so poorly handled, though. I mean, she's serviceable enough, but after we had all other great likable female characters... Rika, Yolei, Sora, Mimi, etc. it feels weird to have someone whose entire gimmick is just "They are the girl and they're Italian". Like the unironic "Be kind/pretty unlike the ugly evil girl" thing is just a lot, especially when she's consistently shown to be the most useless member of the team. I kind-of liked how Yoshino was handled later on in goofier parts of Savers/Data Squad, but I feel like she really wasn't that great, either.

@@AnimeZipCommunity It's the latest card game. It's still ongoing and is honestly pretty good if you ever want to get into it. The last few sets specifically gave a bunch of new cards for Adventure and 02, like the full evolution lines of all the original Tamers' Digimon and the 02 cast and stuff. So if you're getting into the series now then it'd be a good time to look into things because of how strong a lot of early-series decks are. Basically pick your favorite Digimon from Adventure, look up their evolutions, and you're probably going to have something that's going to be pretty solid for a good while. The Digimon Tamers characters have been pretty solid for a while, too, with a lot of nice support for their cards. Frontier feels like it desperately needs to get a lot more stuff, though. They didn't even make a card for one of the main antagonists of the series and everything else just doesn't really feel as strong as it should be anymore. There's just so many great cards out there that a lot of the cast for that specific series just became kind-of outdated.
