I think Conway’s suggestion for clearly telegraphed incremental jail time (starting with 2 hours) is exactly the right approach to take. If people see that Trump is being given multiple opportunities to avoid spending much time in jail, but his actions keep increasing the penalty, then it’s clearer to people that Trump’s problem is his inability to follow rules.

Yes. Just give him an exponential increasing amount until he is earning a week in jail a couple of times, then give him the full 30 days with a final warning that another violation will cause the same amount. He'll spend most of the trial in jail. The real advantage will be for the other trials where the judges can point to this one and how he had to be controlled in this one with jail time to have the gag order enforce, so that they can bring the hammer down on him immediately when he tries the same game in their courtrooms.
