The Ukrainians are not winning anything in Kursk, when the goal was to reach Glushkowo and they are still stuck close to the border. It's not about Km2 exchanges, but about achiving their goals and neither is their offensive reducing the Russian gains, nor are they able to reach their targets since the 16th. When you then also factor in the huge losses they are taking in Kursk, especially in this 2nd offensive, it simply can't be further away from any success.

Ukraine says "there were no casualties in Kiev" after several hours of heavy attacks with Russian drones and missiles. As usual, the nifty Ukrainians managed to intercept everything (erm?). Of course this nonsense is still repeated without any qualifiers by the MSM - because nobody wants to openly question what Zelensky and his bunch are saying.

Their original plan was to take the Kursk nuclear power plant, but that failed very quickly. Now they can't admit they screwed up and keep dumping more irreplaceable men, munitions and equipment on another pointless offensive that will accomplish nothing. This is largely what happened to Germany in the 1918 spring offensive, Operation Michael just on a smaller scale. When their initial objective failed they relaunched the offensive somewhere else along the line, which had no chance of breaking through the Allied line. Afterwards with men and material shortages they couldn't hold back the Allied offensives later that year which culminated in the overthrow of the Kaiser right before the army completely collapsed.
@IlovepotatofrАй бұрын
They know that, they are holding there because they will look defeated if they retreated and right now they need weapons and funding from western allies, so they are sacrificing their mens for the purpose
@louise_roseАй бұрын
Exactly. One of the wider goals of the Kursk offensive was also to demonstrate to the world: "Hey, we are able to run a Blitzkrieg on Russian soil and the Russians are inferior to us, they can't hold us back - and they haven't been able to do this kind of operation anywhere within Ukraine over the last two years!". That objective failed as well, the offensive rapidly ground to a halt and failed to break into Russia with any depth. But Kiev will keep pumping in soldiers because to lose this foothold pocket would mean, for Zello, to lose face in a disastrous way after 1½ years spent without any meaningful and lasting gains of territory within their own old borders.

As of yesterday at least, Veseloe was not held by UA forces. As Russian mappers reported, they're trying to go around and cut it off from the north, and taking heavy losses in the process. RF are not going into Plekhove. They're bypassing it. And Borki was captured(or at least removed from UA control) days ago. "swapping lands","winning" Land capture is completely irrelevant. UA has lost at minimum 15k in or in support of the Kursk attack, more likely closer to 20k. RF has lost merely a few hundred. But above all else, UA has lost an insane amount of vehicles there. >600 confirmed and another thousand+ likely or at least damaged. And lots of them seems to be western vehicles, which there simply just isn't a whole lot more of that CAN be delivered.

@DIREWOLFx75Ай бұрын
Actually, it has been confirmed several times over by now, that Russia was aware that UA was going to attack into Kursk, at least 2 months before it happened. And that they demined the border specifically to ALLOW THEM to do it and to make it look like an easier target to make sure they DID do it. UA casualties were going down, so Russia created another meatgrinder for them to merrily launch themselves into blindly. At least 15k UA troops gone just from the Kursk adventure, along with over 1600 vehicles. It's not that Russia is unprepared, it's that they only seriously fight when they can inflict massive casualties without taking much of their own losses. Look at the results instead of bothering about the propaganda BS. RF, lost a few hundred. UA, lost probably around 20k. And UAs lack of equipment has reached the levels that they can't even provide personal equipment for new "recruits". And most so called recruits are by now essentially kidnap victims. They're crashing and burning BAD. And it's just getting worse.
