One of the cool workarounds for the augmented lanius is you can get level 2 medbay with medbot dispersal and it negates their health loss when low

If you get it to level 3 it also negates the health loss of suffocation when combined with respirators, negating the need for an Oxygen system!

The Augmented Lanius are great. Got the living off the land Ach with these guys. Never went to a shop because the base ship is really good. Also, you can get medical augments for Engies and Crystals for an oxygenless ship.

Pro-tip, Spearmintz! I've been doing this ever since I started doing normal and hard runs on (vanilla) FTL. Treat the power to your O2 system as a bonus power. Most often you can leave O2 unpowered the whole fight (or for big chunks of it) and have that used elsewhere. Then just remember to bring O2 back up before jumping! Yes it can add annoying wait times, but it's just that extra little edge in saving scrap for big upgrades / store purchases. Precisely, I always have enough power to have everything (drone ships being an exception to the rule and working a bit differently) powered up except medbay and O2 are fully depowered.

If you have an obelisk weapon or object like the carnage you have access to the aether upgrades in the upgrades menu. Can get the zoltan shield form the upgrades menu!

My goals for sector 1 usually amount to getting scrap arm as soon as possible, upgrading medbay to level 2 for free onboard lab, (Overclocked zoltans are so OP), level 2 shields, and either upgrading doors or getting a crew member dedicated to doors room. Getting boarded is such a huge problem in this mod if you have crew that can't fight well. Iv'e lost a few seemingly unbeatable runs to phase 1 flagship just because mfk aces are so powerful. Ghosts are also really annoying to deal with since they can just zoom around your ship with ease and do crazy sabatoge damage without worrying about doors or O2. Also, I know you don't like drones and I agree combat drones are kinda terrible in this mod, but if you find the trinity drone from sylvan or the omni-drone from a cura task, you straight up don't have to ever worry about getting hit anymore. Hell, the reason why I like the recycler bomb is because it can't be targeted and it ignores shields; the only thing you have to worry about getting through if you already are confident that you aren't gonna be hit by anything. Occasionally you'll find a ship that has a defense drone scrambler but remember that that's an upgrade that you can get too! If you hate bombs and wanna go for missiles/flak then i'd look into getting that internal upgrade for sure. (it's in Onboard Tech) Also, thanks again for making these! You're the reason I started playing this game and i'm so glad that I get to watch more content with the latest release ^_^

On my last playthrough, I got super lucky and got TWO Kernel 2 launchers. Combined with my Arty beam and the Explosive recycler, it saved my run and carried me to Victory

oh and, I suggest you invest in teleporter + clonebay strat, these guys are very strong boarders, they can tp over and do 3 damage instantly, basically a preignited bomb
