Like most my longtime hairstylist does free bang trims (for clients) and free 15 min consults for new clients. He’s also the owner but still it’s great. I trust him so much I don’t even watch now.

Watching you be stressed was harder to watch than the hair fails 😂 Remember HB, "woooo-saaaah" When people complain that some hairdressers are terrible, it immediately brings me back to beauty school (I went for aesthetics, not hairdressing) and I watched some of those girls struggle *a lot* . To quote Seinfeld, "Not everyone can graduate at the top of the class. Someone has to graduate at the bottom." 😅 You only need a 70% to pass beauty school and the state board licensing exam. They don't care whether you're any good or not, they only care that you work sanitarily.

I really appreciate what you teach. It helps broke people who have to cut their own hair do a better job, shows the more well off how highly skilled stylists actually are, and it gives future stylists an idea of what it takes to do that job well.

I finally took my mom's sisters. Convinced her to grow it out for three months. Made her watch SO MANY yt of real hairdressers/especially HB. Then painstakingly showed her how to cut side curtain and front bangs. She is a retired nurse with degrees and even commendations for it. Getting her to understand over directing was like explaining nuclear fission.

I always look forward to your videos! I worked over ten years in the hairdressing industry ( I wasn’t a hairdresser ) and you are absolutely right! Some hairdressers have lost their passion and will have no problems with messing up a client’s hair, charge them and let them walk out....I understand why quite a few people just want to try and do it themselves,but.... they don’t have all the knowledge that a professional hairdresser has. Even having worked in this industry I am not ashamed to say I cut my own hair...because of a bad experience. Then a year later I thought I would give another salon a try...ooo man it was so bad! The colour was way too dark, my neck was black from the product, I won’t even mention the so-called cut she gave me and my hair felt like straw 👀😭 oh yes and my left ear got in the way of the scissors 🤬 Hair Buddha if ever you come to the South of France let us know because a Tiny But Mighty Cookie will be looking for you 😅

I had my mirror right in front of my, while watching this video, and I've just bleached and toned my hair..... and as you were demonstrating how to slide the scissors to blend the bangs down into the lengths, I paused the video, grabbed my hair scissors, and replayed your demonstration three times, and on the fourth replay.... I slid my scissors down the front lengths of my hair, along with you! AND...... it came out lovely!!! Thank you! WoooHooooo!

I recently discovered your channel and I've learned a lot! During Covid, I tried cutting and dying my hair and I had no clue what I was doing. I did the ponytail cut where I parted my hair down the middle and brought it around to the front and tied the two sections together to trim off the dead ends. I didn't mind how much longer it was in the back or any slight unevenness to it as I always braided my hair up for work anyway. The dye was more of an experiment. I had never had my hair dyed before so I grabbed a box of purple dye that said it could be used on dark hair and I just dyed a section of it. Again, I had no idea what I was doing, I had no idea I should have used nice thin sections. It came out...purple, but it wasn't very good at all. After the Covid restrictions lifted I went to a hair salon and met a really cool hairdresser and I have him do my hair now.

As someone who gets impulsive when drunk and do all kinds of experiments in hairdressing, cooking, reorganizing furniture and things like that, I'm happy hair Buddha is here to educate me, repeat all the time the important things, now when I impulsively and drunkenly do my hair I don't mess it up because I instinctively follow all the right steps without even thinking. When I do other people's hair with my head working correctly I can do so many good results and those close to me really are happy to be able to get their hair done for free. This channel is so important to us noobs, and I'm grateful for its existence

Sometimes hair dressers dont listen. I had a woman i went to for 8 yrs. I had been growing my hair out so I could get a new style, I told her that I was growing out the layers and that I just wanted the ends trimmed, & the bangs evened up. She turned me away from the mirror and proceeded to cut my hair and when she got done she turned me around and said " I didnt think you'd like it so I just relayered it"....i was so angry...I had spent almost a year growing my hair and was less than 1/2 an inch from being able to get the shoulder length bob I had been working toward. I paid for the cut, & told her that I would never let her touch my hair again. That was over 12 yrs ago and I have never been back to her shop. I very much understand why people have trust issues when it comes to someone cutting your hair. I very much appreciate your videos and the good advice and constructive feedback you give😊

I've been going to the same hairdresser since I was 15.Now 60. I've had some weird cuts and colours over the years, all at my instigation. The only interference my hairdresser indulged in was telling me certain styles I chose from magazines/books wouldn't suit me due to my hair not being like the models & we'd adjust. I always listened and she was always right. Today I'm very staid. I've always kept a fringe and layers for volume but today only layer the very bottom. Recently I wanted more fringe and asked her to increase it. She said 'if I do it, it'll look like a mullet' I took her advice as I always do. But trust is important.

1:15 but in korea, for example, such small bangs are very fashionable. We also like them much more than the bigger ones, and we had different shapes of bangs: thick, straight, thinner, triangle, straight 80's style and very delicate, a few hairs, it suited us best.

About the choice of such a small triangle; If I'm not mistaken it's a trend that came over from south korea. It used to be a very popular hairstyle there and in East Asia in general. The goal was a tiny and thin bang with a lot of face framing side pieces, to hide the sides of the face and make it appear smaller. I feel like a lot of people don't realize that the face framing pieces is the key for that look and it just looks weird without them... Especially if you cut it too short lol
@anthonyrobertson2011 Жыл бұрын
I've cut my own hair for years. One thing I learned early on doing my bangs is do NOT pull the hair as you cut. Just let it hang free and cut. Pulling and cutting is going to result in way shorter length when it releases.
@tkps Жыл бұрын
I also notice due to many girls today having a middle part and their hair being trained to sit down the side of the head when they cut a fringe it immediately separates back into those sides with a middle gap and they wonder why. I always part my hair on one side or the other so when I trim my fringe (the hairdresser cuts it) it never separates into 2 pieces. These girls need to part their hair on the side for a month or two before they cut a fringe.

Thanks for suffering through those for our entertainment! I toyed with my hair EARLY on in the pandemic. BECAUSE I wasn’t going to be seen by anyone (except husband) for a while. HOWEVER: after that mess, I determined I would NOT do that again! It’s been 2 years now since my first ‘since then’ PROFESSIONAL cut, and I’m getting it properly and professionally cut again this Friday! It’s driving me crazy, I look like Denethor’s sister. BUT I’m letting my fave hairdresser have at it! No scissors for ME! ❤️

Pro-tip, because not everyone has long eyebrows (that go beyond the outer corners of your eyes). Use the outer corner of your iris as a reference point. This will be the same as ⅔ of your eyebrows if they are long. This is also where most eyebrows have their highest point before going a bit down again.
@jmc8076 Жыл бұрын
My stylist gave me same tip and how to trim my bangs for my style. But hope the iris tip helps others who didn’t know. 👏

I honestly think a lot of hairdressers here in Australia, have lost the love of hairdressing. In our shopping centres, we have salons that are taking walk ins, so basically you just take a seat in order of arrival and wait. The hairdressers are on a time limit per client, they are just pumping out as many people as they can. They don't smile, they don't talk, you can see the lack of interest in their eye's. I feel for them in a way, that they have had to take a job that they clearly don't like. The salon owners are the ones who should be held accountable for all the terrible haircuts that constantly come out of these quick cut salons.

I haven't been to a salon in 20 years because I had so many stylists mess up my hair - fried perms, bleached, melting off my head, really bad cuts, you name it. At least if I ruin it, it's free! My advice to young women - the most beautiful hair is just very healthy, thick and shiny. If I had it to do over, I'd use nothing but that natural henna with the animal pics on the box. It made my hair thick, strong and shiny for years. And no harmful chemicals!!

I've learned a lot from it, and it's always not only educational, but fun, so thanks for the videos so far :) But I was wondering - would you consider doing a video on how to grow/maintain/care for beards? You have an awesome beard yourself, and there's so much conflicting info out there on the net, it would be really cool to have a definitive, more comprehensive guide from someone who really knows what they're talking about. Stuff like what to wash with and how often, dealing with irritated skin, general growth maintenance, etc. Either way, you're awesome, and keep being you. You've got a fan in me. ✌
