This, considering he had to pay for the utilities of a building he was told he could move into before he was legally allowed to even be in there, the lying, the extensions of deadlines, he really gave the landlord every chance he could give them, and this is how they treated him, it's no wonder it was left abandoned, building issues aside, if this was how the landlord treated someone whom they had a lease with. Just seriously, there's only so much good will to be given in a one sided relationship.

Defiantly got a landlord that over promised to get a tenant in there. Not sure I agree with the “disaster zone” or “building destroyed” comments. I was expecting to see all the walls and doors gutted and no stairs or ceiling. Looks to me like they can install the drywall in a day. Maybe 3 or 4 more days they can have it taped and muddled. Roll up the plastic and call in a cleaning crew on day 5. After that your left with the damages they caused to the tank stands (probably didn’t realize the value of the stands and assumed it was left by previous tendentious, or they’re just careless and rushing making mistakes. They should absolutely be held accountable for the damages which come to how much $? And yes, he was smart to keep his equipment out until the construction was done. And no he was not smart doing work in a building prior to paying the rent and being insured and having an occupancy permit.

It all really comes down to getting what you pay for, landlord likely hired the cheapest options, and the ones that they hired first were wise enough to realize they had been had, more work than they signed up for with the rate of pay they agreed on, which means the landlord likely had to really scrape the bottom of the barrel for someone to do the job at a rate they were willing to pay.

Keep up the positive attitude Joey. I’ve been your fan since day one. We’ve all seen your ups and downs. This is just one of those down moments that I know you’ll get out of. Looking forward to the gallery and because of you I’m still doing the fish hobby and getting such great results due to you sharing your knowledge with us over the years. Cheers!

When you work in multimillion dollar homes you make sure shit like this doesn’t happen. Good contractors bring that mentality to lower end jobs. Myself I would have been calling them slobs if I was on that job. I have no problem calling people or contractors out for being dirty

Your videos inspired me into this hobby a few years ago and I still watch your videos today. 💪Keep it up!

You can stand upon our shoulders and the Bad Karma the landlord has created will become self-evident and the waves are just beginning .... it will sink-in shortly in all of our brains, as not every one has seen this latest video --- but we care sooooooo much about you and every creature you have so lovingly cared for, Joey! How can we help you?

By the way this is my plan that i will implement in another 2-3 years, hope it helps your current situation. * Buy a peace of land in the town outskirts. * Build an enclosures that will house all the tanks, you can start of with a single one and build multiple structures. * people will visit you if even its a 30-60 min drive from the city center.

I admire your drive and your genuine good nature Joey. You've kept your video informative and formal without letting your emotions form this video into a giant anger fueled rant. You're incredibly mature and well mannered. We all can see how you feel when you speak and recognize how strong you are for not breaking down your composure. You've done the best you can, and sure "hindsight is 20/20", however none of us should feel you made the wrong move holding on as long as you have with this place. This is your dream. We all hold on to our dreams longer than most people would advise us to when things aren't going right. That's how we are, so that's something to feel proud of - not feel defeated or ashamed by. I, and many others, support your efforts and courage to take this ambitious project on. I've always liked you and your inspiringly helpful channel. After seeing your ability to maintain an agreeable attitude through all of this, I full-on respect you. WE respect you, so stay strong and keep working towards your dream no matter how many times you need to revise your plans. It will work out, and all of this will be worth the cost.

I'm also in Truro and was looking forward to this....certainly don't blame you for running from that place. I would think space wouldn't be too hard to find around here...would definitely try to find something with lower ceilings unless you need them...heating it would be expensive. I would sit on the idea for a while. There's a lot of businesses who have people working from home and are now paying rent for an empty building...something better will come up!

As egregious as a lot of this is the one part that I think is on you is expecting there not to be any mess or dust while they're doing these renovations. There is no way to not make a mess while doing that kind of work. Putting your stuff in there while they're working, especially unprotected, is not smart.
