Thanks for another reaction to VoicePlay! This one is another older great one from the guys. Jose is a great collaborator for them. VoicePlay uploaded a new short last Friday and another today. Their full video release for this month should be coming before long and it's wonderful. Today we found out that "The Way You Make Me Feel" did not receive a 2025 Grammy nomination in the "Best Traditional R&B Performance" category (Category #21) nor did it or "Hellfire" receive a nomination in "Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella." Sad and disappointed for them, but the guys said that it was unlikely as they didn't go to the parties or promote their work as the recording industry does for their artists. As 100% independent artists whose work was submitted by others, I'm glad that they were considered anyway. Perhaps it will just take time. We appreciate VoicePlay for their excellence and that will have to suffice for the time being.

A couple of years ago they brought back these characters and did "Valhalla Calling".

If you want to know about Laynes beatboxing methods, just ask. Layne, in fact most of VoicePlay, are very open to being interviewed.

True. But they are incredibly busy with multiple jobs. So patience will be necessary.

Although they're all busy with extra jobs, maybe Klown can ture Layne out with a carrot......

I take it as a great honor that they were submitted. I think we knew it was a longshot, but I am so proud anyway.

I have to admit that I used to have little to no appreciation for beatboxing. It seemed like little more than noise used to rap to. But Voiceplay, and especially Layne, won me over. I’ve developed an appreciation for what a good beatboxer can do, and how much they add to a performance. And your reactions and tutorials have furthered that. I am hopeless at trying to beatbox. On a Zoom call Layne was asked to teach us something simple. He did and said “even Judy can do this". Sorry. I proved him wrong. But that only adds to my appreciation of it.

Beatboxing can be used in many different types of music which is whats so cool about it!

They were separate because it was during the covid thing and they did a lot of videos separate back then

No, they were all in the studio for this. They filmed green screen for this so they could use the different backgrounds that Eli created in Unreal Engines to go with the costuming.

Layne's also singing throughout in many instances. Since his beatboxing is so epic they tend to highlight that in the mix and use his vocals as a harmonizing layer. I guess his techniques in beatboxing will remain a bit of the mystique of Layne.....

I think this was the first one with Jose Rosario Jr. It's hard not to love him. That little nose scrunch he does is just adorable.💙
Great reaction, again! Check out the costumes. You will see them in some of Geoff's solo work (all of the Hobbit/LOTR) series and in VPs Valhalla Calling, maybe some of it in In The Hall of the Mountain King and Classical Chaos.

I can't say for sure but I have always had the impression their shorts might not be pre-recorded. I know their ACA series of videos were single take, not pre-recorded. Although most of them are several years old. These might be a way to view Laine's beatboxing.

I had also heard that and posted it once and Huldra corrected me and said no these are not live. They don’t spend as much time with the set but they are pre-recorded. But all of the ACA’s except for the movie one are. I wish they do more of the ACAs. I thought they were a lot of fun.

You should really watch his interview with the Charismatic Voice here on KZbin. It was released around the time when they did the "Moana" medley. You can see how he puts down the individual tracks and he does some demos. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bny7n3Vvn7yUbKs

Please react to Voiceplay's Elenor Rigby. And also The Greatest Showman Medley. I would really like to see your take on the beatboxing.

Great reaction! I wish I could have seen it happen live but I'm on a game with a dear friend (right now we are just waiting until I can continue after the dog walk) so I couldn't focus on a stream sadly. Bonus Beatboxing too xD

I am subbed, but I don't get notifications when you go live. I hit notifications, but...alas, nothing.
This won’t be a popular comment, but I think Geoff is the one most concerned with optics, considering his frequent costume modifications to make them more form-fitting. I think what you are seeing most with Layne is that sometimes the tracks are layered, so he has to choose which sound to represent in the video. And when Geoff directs and edits, often Layne isn’t shown as much.
